Q: Was Varys trying to poison someone?

MöozThere is a theory going around about Game of Thrones, Season 8, Episode 6 (The Bells), that Varys was attempting to poison A lot of the "evidence" is around Varys' new "little bird", the girl who says: To which Varys replies: Is this true? Is there official confirmation that Varys was at...

Q: Why did Theon charge to his death in S8E04, "The Last of the Starks"

alec_aIf he was trying to stall, he could have done so more effectively by waiting. If he was trying to kill the Night King, surely he could have thought up a better strategy than allowing the NK to see him charging for so long. One-on-one combat would be a better option, because it would be harder for...

Q: Can Arya wear the face of White Walkers or the Night King?

alec_aI was wondering this while she was wandering around in the crypts, and now even more so after she killed the Night King. Do faces literally have to be cut from the bodies of one's victims, or does it work through magic? I would think the latter, as Jaquen is able to wear Arya's face in S5E10

Q: Why didn't Night King resurrect Viserion under water?

ashveliIn Game of Thrones, we can see in the episode "The Long Night" that the dead can be resurrected from the underground crypts. Why didn't Night King resurrect Viserion under water? Why did he have to make so much effort with poor wights with huge chains to extract the dragon from deep?

Q: Would Gendry have inherited Storm's End anyway?

LevenTrekThis is a question about the show. In the books, some characters are alive that are dead in the show, so the answer would be different. In S08E04, Queen Daenerys makes a show of granting Storm's End to Gendry, the bastard of King Robert Baratheon. Before she does, she asks if anyone knows who th...

Q: Have GoT's showrunners reacted to the poor reception of the final season?

JasmeruThe final season of Game of Thrones is coming to an end but many fans are disappointed by the rushed conclusion of the final episodes. Ratings for season 8 have taken a "critical nosedive" and some fans have demanded that season 8 be rewritten. Many people are also concerned for the next Star War...

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau's interview on the writing:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EIN_04N1AHQ&feature=youtu.be&t=482
Quoting him:

"And I'd get into all these arguments and fights with the writers and they're like "Yeah, we heare you." "Yeah but please, you have to babiba..." And they go "Yeah, we hear you and we respect you, but we don't care. Ok, we don't.. (f***). You're an actor, just say the words." They didn't say it like that, but that was the gist.
And the funny thing is, we've gotten through these song-and-dance-routines every season since season 4, where I come back and I'm like "This doesn't make sense!""
Out of all of them, I loved Emilia's the best
Funny how they keep their character role

Q: What happened to Crastor's son in S8E4?

a123At the end of Game of Thrones S8E4, before we see all of the of the White Walkers gathered. Where was the baby White Walker that the Night King created earlier in the show? Do they grow up super fast? Was he left behind? If so then with whom and where?

Q: Have the writers and actors of GOT responded to its poor reception?

alec_aSeason 8 is by far the worst-rated season by critics, and it's most recent episode, "The Bells," is the lowest-rated episode in GOT history according to Rotten Tomatoes (47%). My interactions on the internet and with my friends, along with audience-scores for season 8, give me the impression tha...

The thing that gets to me is the lack of consistency. 2 dragons easy to kill, drogon is a god. NK all-powerful god immune to dragonfire, dies to blade forged in dragonfire. NK sees Jon far behind him, doesn't spot Arya for so long. Yes, all of these can be loosely explained by in-universe things, but they just don't seem real
Yeah there really is a lack of consistency but what I meant in my comment on your question is that EP5 really is spectacular, the complaints are from frustration on the season as a whole and that it is the culmination of poor writing... the writing was improved for that specific episode but they had to work with what was set up for them

Q: How is the feather from the trailer related to what has happened so far in the episodes that have aired?

defau1tDuring the trailer launch of Game of Thrones season 8. A feather is shown with good amount of significance. We have seen this feather related to Robert Baratheon visiting the Crypt of Winterfell but that's the old story. How is the feather related to season 8 so far what has been aired?

@alec_a BTW Dragons are supposed to be just as OP as Drogon was in the last episode. Well minus the cannon balls shooting out of Drogon's gullet. And it is suspected that Valyrian steel may kill the Others, Dragons will presumably play a huge role in the real ending. That Arya thing was pure nonsense.
(Aeg knows the book canon better than most you'll speak to)
also, even if valyrian steel may be made by dragonfire, there are spell on it
@TheLethalCarrot George.R.R Martin > Elio and Linda > Aegon > nerds > casual viewers > my dog > D&D

They blew their CGI budget on an episode nobody could see and can't really do anything without it
and I don't even have a dog
Just look at Tyrion
*tyrion's trial
@Kepotx LOL
for an example that required absolutely no CGI and was incredible
Let us stop assuming that Valyrian steel is the only bane to the Others. The others were defeated the first time after all, when there was no Valyria in the first place
And the first men had bronze weapons back then, mind. Not even steel
15:25
but children used obsidian
Yup and we know from Sam's adventures that it works on Wights and others.
And since Obsidian is more readily and cheaply available than the extremely rare and expensive VS reckon that would be the weapon of choice for the living in the battle for dawn
Yup, it seems to work very well and isn't as brittle as it is in our world too
@Aegon the concentration of VS blade in the same place was impressive however
@TheLethalCarrot well, they even cast it
it's a rock damns it
15:31
Well, it was, no? They had Gendry make weapons from it.

Q: Was Tyrion always a poor strategist?

ThatOneGuy789One particular criticism of season 8 caught my attention. According to some fans, Tyrion had recently become an idiot in the series. This has been blamed on lazy inconsistencies in character and sloppy writing. However, having watched all of the seasons and read the books, I'm having a hard time...

@NapoleonWilson Gendry melt it, and made axe, swords or other kinf of weapons like this. Real obsidian would shatter on first hit
the artefacts found by Sam were arrowheads, spearheads and such
Well, sure, but it's magical dragon glass. ;-)
small part of obsidian put at the end of a more or less big shaft
Point is, noone said Valyrian Steel was da only real deal. They made quite a big deal out of the obsidian.
15:40
Can't recall, how much Obsidian weapons were used in The Long Night?
Presumably most had them bar the Dothraki
Unclear, but they certainly showed them being mass produced, including Jon organizing a supplier back in season 7.
^ basically their mission
You forgot the resurrecting part
@NapoleonWilson Oh yeah I recall that now, the mines scene on Dragonstone and this season in the forge
@TheLethalCarrot Maybe the real NK is Dany? EXPECTATIONS SUBVERTED!
15:44
The NK wearing Dany's face which is Arya wearing the NK's face inside of Bran's dream and he wakes up still a cripple!
@TheLethalCarrot if a whole army didn't have any obsidian weapon, why assume all the others had?
Because we saw them make them. Assuming they rot in the crypt together with the kids would be a bigger stretch.
Cos they had FIRE!
@Aegon so, if Jon kill dany, does that mean Nissa Nissa is the NK?
15:47
@Kepotx What is lightbringer then
The stick that King Daeron fashioned for his blind nephew?
#BoatBaby?
MARTHAAAAAAAA
She has a name carrot
@TheLethalCarrot meh. babies are not the best weapon to stab someone, believe me
She grew up quick!
Trying to kill her own mother!
The shame!
the baby tend to die before your targer
15:48
Kinslayer! SAD
@TheLethalCarrot "This was all foreshadowed in the very first episode. You know when Gregor Clegane found those wolf pups near their dead mother on his way to Duskendale. The babies had killed their mother by ripping her apart from within. So that's how it was foreshadowed that the Prince that was promised would kill her mother who happens to be both Nissa Nissa and NK" - Inside the Episode

I do think this season is getting way more stick than it deserves, it has been a good season...not the strongest at all but not everyone can get their own way on how it ends even the actors.
17:41
@JostySpoons I don't think the reason it's getting such backlash is because the fans are simply angry that the ending isn't to their liking. The anger is mainly because the Fans expected a logical, consistent ending which resolves all the plots. In short, they want he Quality that was taken for granted in the first three seasons and gradually evaporated as the show went on
Of course with how huge the fandom is, there was always going to be some backlash regardless to what way they chose to go. Some people would have mocked whatever they came up with (I confess I am one of those, I have been doing that since Season 4). But when majority of the fandom agrees that they've lost it, well there's certainly something wrong. I mean the very fact that now D&D have to explain the character decisions, motives, goals in a way they never had to before says quite a lot
Not sure that's why they're doing it rather than just because doing "after show parties" has become the next big thing since Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, and stuff like that.
They also heavily reworked the intro sequence, but I've not (yet) seen too many complaints about that. ;-)
I'd be lying if I said I paid any attention the intro sequence ever. I've read people complaining about it though. How it used to show which castles and which characters would feature in the episode and nowadays they keep showing Last Hearth even though they have not been there or shown an Umber since Ned Umber died
What I noticed it that it seems to pay much more attention to the interior of buildings.
But at the end of the day, it seems a little like they simply wanted to outdo themselves with trickery there.
The locations weren't always accurate to the episode, though. But I guess the primary problem to the old approach was that they aren't scattered across the globe anymore now. This season largely has the entire story take place at a single location each episode.

Q: If Cersei is pregnant, why can't you see it?

wenzzzelOkay so this has been bugging me a lot. Cersei reveals that she's pregnant at the end of season 7. Since there was no modern pregnancy tests and she still seemed certain of it, she must have been at least a couple weeks into it. After that these things have happened: Jon and company go beyond...

Q: In ASOIAF faceless man theory

Dylan LeeThe faceless mens statement that there is only one god Death is misleading and I have some crazy head canon theories about what it means. It has been inferred that the faceless men were born in the mines of the five flames. I suspect that deep within the five flames lived a god(alien) that empowe...
