Yup first year we had a module called lab software where we basically learned C LabVIEW and MATLAB and I really enjoyed it

Apprenticeship money goes straight to the company as sort of an incentive for them to hire an apprentice and then they pay you something

Yeah a loan somewhere between 2-6k depending on what your parents earn irrespective of whether they'll help you or not but that all has to go back too

And that's per year

Some lucky people get grants but they're either for the really poor or really smart

So the majority of the people are screwed

Well depending on how much effort you put into uni to earning money afterwards

There are people who pay it off in 3 or 4 years cuz they make bank after leaving

There are some who never pay it back because they earn less than 27k per year until they're 45 or whatever the cut-off is.

For example my gf can't get a job, even though she has a degree, because she doesn't have any experience in that particular job. And of course to get experience you have to have a job but you can't without experience etc etc

The brits like to make a huge crisis of the student loan, and while for the majority because they sleep their way through uni it is, the system is pretty helpful in making sure most get wiped clean. Now why the Unis charge so much compared to mainland Europe, I don't know. But yeah

I bought one for the flat in London when I lived there that was 175x50 or something, absolute weapon of a desk. Left it there when I moved out because 1 no one wanted it and 2 I wasn't pointlessly shipping that bugger back home

I bought it before I moved in with my gf too and it's only used for my PC

I just prefer the monitor to be further away from me, staring at a screen is bad enough but I do have eyesight problems and I wear anti glare glasses too to try and stop it

I don't wear normal glasses yet but I think I'm going to have to get a pair soon cos my right eye is going completely now

Oh yeah it does, I mean my right is the lazy one so I generally don't have much FOV to my right, I can't use 3D glasses though the "new" polarised ones aren't too bad and when something is coming directly at me from a certain angle I can't see it at all and I have some problems with depth perception haha

But generally those problems don't effect me day to day haha
