yes, so my answer based on the fact that bows can't work at extreme low temperatures is not good because the temperature beyond the wall is not as low as I thought. I expected -30 to -60 °C, a temperature where a wood bow can't stay functional and humans dressed like Jon's crew is can't survive that long without moving

I was hoping we'd see Jon Snow crawl out of the ice lake as a Wight, blue eyes & snarling, and then at the Night King's bidding, mount the undead Viserion... This would have been a dramatic turn of events, but probably too bold even for D&D. Too bad, would have been cool to see an undead Jon Snow realizing his new fate & having an existential crisis, interacting with his new undead comrades (lots of grunting no doubt), take on an undead girlfriend.
