@AnthonyTanas Emulators are allowed as long as they don't execute arbitrary downloaded code.
Since all the content in the C64 emulator is built in/purchasable through the store, it's kosher.
You can only run apps on your own device if you jailbreak, or pay the $100 and be able to deploy the adhoc version of the app.

Quick show of hands - anyone a fan of google plus?
19:29
The silence is deafening.
The site seems cool, so I would be willing to be a fan if any of my real-life friends were on it.
But there are maybe two or three of them on G+, vs hundreds on Facebook. So... not really a fan.
19:54
@NathanGreenstein That's why I never got into Twitter until the AD promotion last year.
@AnthonyTanas 6502 is also the Apple ][ chip. Speaking as someone who once upon a time wrote assembly code for it.

Hey, Apple bros. Is there an app for controlling an Apple TV with a Mac?
It's frustrating having my Macbook on my lap but having to grab my phone to go to the next netflix episode since apple doesn't make a native remote app for OS X
@MDMarra Great question - never heard of one, so why not ask it...
@JasonSalaz yup - i tried it when a friend that worked for google suggested it, but I tried it when it was just hatching and too much was broken, not working, not designed, getting into place.
@bmike Is "Halp! Need an App" on topic here?
As long as the requirements are very specific, sure.
I know it'd get murdered on Server Fault (and I'd be one of the killers)
@MDMarra Software recommendations are
22:24
cool
when in doubt - check the FAQ
It falls under the domain of shopping questions. We generally handle them case-by-case, but if it's specific: "help me control my appletv from a computer" is better than "suggest a remote app"
speaking of, I never did write up mine.
lots of writing I need to do today.
on top of all the writing I do for my job
Yeah, every stack exchange site classifies shopping differently. Like I said, it's get walloped on SF, so I thought I'd check in here first
@MDMarra Yes - you will get mocked or worse if you ask (what's the best X or even what's the best X for Y type person).
You'll want to think through the precise requirements you have (those are simple in your case - you want Remote app for OS X instead of iOS) and do a little research to rule out any obvious answers.
got it
22:27
@MDMarra like pee wee herman in a biker bar
Ouch. Just lost rep because a user was deleted. :-(
Evening all
how much?
22:43
@stuffe indeed
@JasonSalaz ten points!
It's surprisingly difficult to make your iphone into an all purpose fitness/workout tracking device you know
I thought that was the point of the nike+ integration?
Also, FitBits
It's fun seeing all those data collection services and which ones will integrate with the others and what parts of out data they lock in their web portal silos.
@stuffe Since you mentioned bikes: I love Strava's service and app for tracking rides and runs.
I have a Nike+ on the way that I got dirt cheap. But it is a bit old school, not GPS enabled as I understand it, from before iPhones etc.
Might make a useful pedometer/cadence tracker, but I think the data is in the app silo and not sharable.
@NathanGreenstein Been playing with it - hate it
22:47
Really? What about it?
There are loads of apps, some do loads of sports, most are for outdoor GPS style automated tracking, with limited options for inputting say an indoor swim or cross trainer session etc.
@NathanGreenstein The data is stuck in it, and it's limited to the (in the UK at least) really expensive "Wahoo" ANT+ tranceiver
I have found other apps that can send to Strava, but none that can take data from it.
Strava is nice, but very focussed on bike and run (why have 2 apps, when they are both free?) - it's not all that good for indoor sessions etc.
However, because the Bike and Run bits are nice, it might be nice to use them for that purpose, and shuttle the data into a more fully featured area like iCardio etc.
Ah, I see. Never tried to use it for indoor stuff. Their site has a GPX export feature but you have to do it manually for each ride. Fwiw, the only difference afaik between the two Strava apps is defaults; both work for everything.
iCardio works with the Garmin ANT+ key, which is half the price of the Wahoo one, but very few apps use it. At least iCardio has lots of API linked options for sharing data, but unlike Strava which is import only, it's export only. Very few bidirectional sync options between apps
Cyclemeter is ugly but it has lots of import/export stuff, if I remember right. Does lots of different types of activities.
The whole system is a mess. Buy an expensive transceiver that works with apps like Strava, or with a little frig buy a cheaper one that works with less apps but from which you can export into Strava etc etc - it's all so horrible. And then there's the mess of different apps and transceivers now being compatible with the various sensors - I thought that was the point of having a standard!?
22:55
No no, the point of having a standard is so that companies have something that everyone can agree to ignore so that they don't accidentally forget to lock you into their own ecosystem.
I'm trying to find a single app that will track GPS suited activities like an outdoor run or ride, and indoor gym/swim so all my data is in one place. Sadly the more comprehensive the feature set, the more limited the UI etc - the single use apps like Strava do a better job in use, but their data is wasted.
@stuffe RunMeter/WalkMeter/CyceMeter - all the same code with different icon and slightly different shuffling of the presets. Get one of the apps and use for all your activities.
The best I have found is Endomondo, but that has very limited sensor support (heart rate only) or iCardio, which is FUGLY but comprehensive.
@bmike Hey, it was just 10 points. Cool. I mis-read it as 100 points.
The general lack of swimming aids is appalling too, bar a few single purpose watches there is no sensor for pool use that will record useful stuff like strokes/length, number of lengths etc, and waterproof heartrate monitors are like Unicorn droppings.
23:08
That's right, you're doing that crazy triathlon thing. Not just biking. Not just running. Not just swimming. All frickin' three at once.
Well, serially, not in parallel...
23:33
@stuffe Get the wahoo and a nike fuel band. Best option my tri friends have found - sadly they don't integrate well.
The wahoos cost a fortune though, and I don;t know a lot about the fuelband, other than is seems....gimmicky?
23:54
Been wearing it for month and a half. It's the real deal. Fitbit doesn't do much for me, Jawbone up was a disaster - great app and potential, but HW was so bad.
Do they have REI near you?
REI?
rei.com but your answer tells me all I need - it's a nope
