@CreationEdge More info?
@Zizouz212 absolutely agree, having those super powers is extremely useful when necessary
Poor peeps at 3d printing, they've gone 90 days... And I thought Open Source was having problems with no mods
YAY! It's a new day... and I'm out. I'll try to stop in later.
Are they unable to find any volunteers or is it because of a site issue?
user132126
Well, getting set up for Atelier method, maybe? Or laying structural lines down (like figure skeletons/mannequins) without having to use another sheet to get rid of them.
00:02
No clue. There's a few mods that I really like there actually
I think they just forgot
@Zizouz212 Bring it up in Meta?
@Zizouz212 Eeesh. That's unfortunate.
I highly doubt they look. They've sent emails, and I've sent pings in TL, but eh
@CreationEdge Dunno... I'm not knowledgable enough to weigh in on that... always worth a meta question, though...
I'd have thought 3D Printing would be a high-visibility sort of site with lots of potential user interest...

There's other things, like proportion systems for faces and bodies. So a question like "Using this method, how do I determine where to lay the corners of the mouth?"
HAH... I got the notification for Vox Populi but I still haven't gotten Critic.
@Erica They have more visits than us actually
But they have little activity
Which is honestly quite normal
user132126
It's highly specialized, right now. A site like that will get busier as consumer printers go down in price.
Okay, I need to seriously get off this place. I have work to do...
user132126
I a $350,000 3D printer that could use like 4 different types of material/color on a single sculpt
00:06
Just watch. 5 minutes and I'll be back
user132126
@Zizouz212 I'm "working" on a final class assignment.
I have a psycho project to finish. Sadly, it's in french as well
user132126
Je ne parle pas francais.
I've been doing it for 11 years.
Uhhhhh mon petit chou.

Mais, j'adore pretendre
Vous parlez bien!
user132126
I had to Google to pretend. I would've guessed "pretender"
user132126
I need to get Duolingo going again.
Ooh... Duolingo
I'm so behind... I'm trying to learn Norwegian :)
Oh. Work
user132126
That was 5 minutes of not even getting to work. Lol
00:10
I'm really bad when it comes to this stuff.
I get distracted a little too easily
user132126
I'll just ping you every 7 minutes.
That's absolutely lovely
user132126
Random, but I saw a pic I made that reminded me: I can draw perfect circles freehand on small paper. I turn my hand into a compass and rotate the page.
user132126
People are generally impressed.
@CreationEdge Literally what I do all the time :)

@TheIndependentAquarius I'm having a hard time coming up with the drawing questions I want to ask that aren't too broad. Graphite is my medium of choice, and the art I'm most interested in.
user132126
But developing a good question is difficult, since I know what I know but I don't know what I don't know.
01:26
@CreationEdge I request you to ask what you know, since I would want to learn from you. Today I am experiencing the true joy of this site creation. I knew this site would be a great resource when I proposed it in Area51.

@CreationEdge just in case I was not clear - I meant that you can answer your own questions. That will provide learning ground to others.

I love this site already
@fredley I almost feel overwhelemed at the topics here. So much stuff I don't know and will never know.
@Matt Yeah, it's very broad in scope
That's a good thing though
I'm enjoying asking/answering technical questions about oil painting, but it's slightly odd having it listed next to technical questions about knitting
I think the scope is good though
@fredley I agree of course. I just want to help as much as I can but besides voting on those questions I am stymied.
@Matt I guess it's like DIY, with metalworking, woodworking, painting, plumbing - lots of different areas of expertise under one roof. I think it's good to have a broad but clearly defined umbrella though.
I think it's good to have a broad but clearly defined umbrella though. That is left to be seen. It will be cool to see how big we can make it (and comfortable maintain).
10:44
@Matt Yeah. I'm sure there will be quite a few scoping issues in meta as the site grows - working out where to draw sensible boundaries.

draw sensible boundaries I see what you did there :)

Q: We should be giving credit where credit is due

MattI have seen several answers now that are just cut and paste from other websites. While that is fine as we want to have the content here it is important that these external sources be properly attributed to give credit to the original authors. When I say external I mean external to this SE site A...

Q: Should we have a kind of dictionary of tools?

SurbI'm not a english native speaker and to be fully honest, I probably don't even know the name of the tools in my first language. Should we consider having a list of the (more or less) commonly used domestic tools with a picture of them? I made a sample answer in community wiki, feel free to edit...

Q: Is woodworking on topic?

Tom MedleyThis question has recently been posted: What type of thin or light wood is suitable for making box joints? Do we handle questions like this, or do we consider them to be a better fit for DIY.SE?

Q: Do we limit the scope of woodworking questions?

MattConsider this question: What type of thin or light wood is suitable for making box joints? As an avid member of the Woodworking.SE I can say that this question is more than suitable for that StackExchange website. So there are several questions that can stem from this Do we want these questio...

Q: Is this question on topic?

neongreenfruitRight now there is a question about covering a book with contact paper (How to cover books without bubbles) And I'm curious if this is considered "on topic" I would like to get some opinions because at first glance to me it seems off topic but I'm not sure. Discuss!

Done with school
@Kanth How is it going?
I am helping people getting their edit points. My grammar is terrible.
@Matt :D Sorry. I got one of them fixed up for you.

Q: Are questions about art restoration on topic here?

CatijaFrom what I understand, the scope of this site is to act as a place for people who are artists/creators of art and crafts. Are topics that relate to art restoration/preservation considered part of that scope?

user132126
22:39
Busy day, not enough time for here :(
user132126
I need 20 more rep
23:19
Anyone able to check something for me?
What does the text under say?
@Catija nothing?
or do you mean
> For products that are non-toxic and hypoallergenic.
Really? Hmmm. For me it says "non-toxic and hypoallergenic." The first part of it is cut off.
oh
But my computer is weird sometimes so I wasn't sure if it was everyone seeing it that way or just me.
there's a meta.SE answer about that somewhere
in essence, very common phrases like "For products that are" or "Questions with" are not visible on the Tags page
23:22
I think this weekend we should have a tag wiki excerpt event or something to get people to write tag wikis.
it gets stripped out of their excerpt preview
@Erica Oh... interesting.... except that makes the excerpt look really dumb in this case.
@Catija I really must look up the meta on this ;) The goal was to reduce redundant definitions, I believe.

A: New tags page mangles tag wiki excerpts

Jeff Atwood The layout script, or whatever it is, tries to be clever, and removes some stuff in front of the tag excerpts to avoid repetition, presumably Correct. You can take a look at the tags on stackoverflow.com superuser.com serverfault.com (all page 1 only, for now) to get a sense of what th...

It can be circumvented by coming up with more unique and creative wording.
Honestly, the broader definition is a better excerpt for that one:
> Items that when ready for normal use will not have a toxic residue or allergens that could affect someone using it to prepare or eat food or drink.
Your idea of a tag excerpt event is a very good one, and I'd be happy to participate.
How odd is that... the wiki is certainly a better choice... there's no reason to keep it so short.
And we really need to get the CMs to approve the edits. I sent in two of them yesterday as a test and neither have been approved yet.
Surely something is better than empty excerpt.
We need users with 500+ rep. We'll get there. :)
23:27
@Erica I don't know that foodsafe = hypoallergenic, though... Lots of food safe oils are nut-based...
(As long as I come up with some questions. Jeepers, I swear I'm crafty...)
Yeah... I have the same problem... fortunately, answers get you more rep, though the questions are needed first. I've never been good at coming up with questions, though. The only place I ask questions is on Meta (including Meta.SE).
@Catija I don't actually know enough about it to be sure, but that sounds right -- food safe doesn't necessarily take allergies into account.
I know, I'll go find some scrap felt and try an experiment and make an answer out of it :D
TO THE CRAFT ROOM
@Erica YAY!
@Catija it may turn into a PersonalProductivity.SE question (How do I store my fabric so I can find my felt quickly when necessary)

Q: Does "foodsafe" actually mean "hypoallergenic"?

CatijaWe don't have a lot of tag wikis (or even excerpts) yet (hint hint...)... But one of the ones we do have is for foodsafe. It reads: (Excerpt) For products that are non-toxic and hypoallergenic. (Wiki) Items that when ready for normal use will not have a toxic residue or allergens that ...
