Ugg, one of those parenting moments today that I really don't care for, but also am somewhat pleased that I think I handled it right...
My son has a friend who has somewhat looser rules about multiplayer games than he does, and had him over for a sleepover.
He asked about playing Minecraft on a multiplayer server, and I said no, because we haven't discussed the dangers inherent to multiplayer environments where I don't know the players.
But that we'd have the discussion soon, and consider setting up some limits.
This morning, I come down to find them playing on a multiplayer server, and lying to me about what they're doing (sort of hilariously funny kid lies... the "my parents are too stupid to know that I'm lying" lies, really would be cute if it wasn't serious)
End result, multiplayer option in minecraft account is turned off (for any non-local MP play), friend had to go home earlier than he would've otherwise, and discussion still pending (for when he's not quite so upset)...
Makes me sad, because he had a lot of fun playing, and until now hadn't shown any evidence of either lying to me about anything important or trying to covertly do things he knows he's not allowed to, beyond sneaking an M&M or something truly minor
But - also a good learning moment for both of us, I think, and far better that both of us learn this now than when he's 16 and driving to Tijuana with his friends or something...

@Joe Lying is the worst! I hate it when my kids lie. And they are so terrible at it too.
