deletable, not useful at all for this specific question. The question exists in the first place because answers like this are not adequate sometimes. The OP explicitly linked an older question with this solution and mentions that in their case for a specific application launcher the 'add to favourites' option simply doesn't appear (reproducible, often the option doesn't show up for some specific .desktop launchers, especially manually-created ones).

@Natty fp Borderline, since it seems more like a comment on that earlier answer than a separate solution, but it does recommend a different approach, i.e., not bothering with the configuration files but just reinstalling the package(s).

@Kulfy Yes, though it could (not very probable) be a genuine answer.

There's another answer on another site which mentioned the same link.

@karel yes, I think that suffices in this case
@karel great, thanks! (thanks @EliahKagan for adding another target)

@Kulfy Then there's no doubt

Indeed.

@Natty fp Borderline but no other answer mentions doing that and it may be an adequate solution or workaround for some people.

OT no-repro, I ended up upgrading to a Samsung 1TB and the issue went away. I assume it was hardware related.
