@EliahKagan I'm very impressed
@EliahKagan I ran the query for posts with just ~~~ and that came to 455, so it seems there are 55 posts with both ~~~ and, er, triple backticks too

3:34 AM
@Zanna Perhaps those use ``` inline for code spans and ~~~ for code fences.

seems likely

There were only a few (like, three, IIRC) posts that the script newly caught when I added the ability to recognize broken ~~~ code fences.

well, at least it was worth doing if it caught something

It might've been worth it even otherwise. Without checking, I'd never know if there were others that ought to have been caught.

I'm wondering if this comment is useful anymore and if I should delete it. I don't like the way I wrote it, and wish I'd worded it differently.
I worry it may be read as saying some people don't have lives outside Ubuntu (and as accusing people of that), which is the exact opposite of what I mean to say. I considered this undesired interpretation at the time and decided it wasn't likely, but now I'm not so sure.
This edit is probably good but can the "Note: part be made clearer?

what is the import of the Note?

I think the goal is to say how to find out what version you have or to find where it is. I really don't understand the note.

I skipped that suggestion because I couldn't figure out whether it actually made sense
@EliahKagan well, now the question is reopened, so, maybe the comment about why it should not have been closed isn't needed

4:09 AM
Although this edit narrowed the scope of question but I was unable to find any input/hint from the questioner regarding the part to be removed. I have rejected the edit.

@EliahKagan I have improved the edit little bit but I guess $HOME/snap does no longer exist. I'm not sure about that since I don't really use snaps.
IIRC it used to be there in 16.04 and 18.04.

I just edited this post but should its title be shortened? I am not sure.

that title seems perfectly fine to me

5:39 AM
I won't change it then.

Should the regex skip leading whitespace to account for the style where people write things like
``` bash
printf 'Hello, world!\n'
```
instead of
```bash
printf 'Hello, world!\n'
```
?
That seems to be why it caught this post.
Why did askubuntu.com/posts/1246695/revisions appear twice in the output of my script?

@Kulfy that's true, but, I think their goal at least is clear and there is a limited amount of room for speculation about what the problem might be and suggestions for approaches that would work. I don't want that question to get closed (and likely deleted) as it has answers with positive anonymous/low-rep feedback

Oh I didn't see the anonymous feedback. Thanks for the info.

:) that's the nature of anonymous feedback :(
how did you come across that post?

jokerdino yesterday sent a query which I modified a little bit. I picked 2 random questions from the results. One was that and the other one was this one.

2:02 PM
yeah that one seems highly unlikely to help any future visitors haha
so many results from that query

I really want to resume that project
somehow battling the images tag is taking forever
good work on fixing that query
it is much more useful after your edits

Currently I'm trying to figure out the answer for this question. OP solved the issue since they edited the title and added "SOLVED". The answer must be hidden somewhere in the comments.
@Zanna Thanks :)
I'm wondering of the threshold of the view count and score.
Should it be increased/decreased? What do you think?

I would not set a threshold for views at all because people could be landing on the question just because of misleading keywords

If I remove threshold for views but keep for score, only ~200 more posts are returned.

2:16 PM
but for score I think the threshold is right
if a post has that many upvotes, there's a pretty good chance that it's useful
but it depends on your goal
if the goal is to delete useless things, then a low score threshold makes sense
but abandoned questions might not be useless at all
> thanks Serg, your advises saved my OS ! <br/><br/>So, I didn't reboot and typed ctrl+alt+F1 and got to the full-screen prompt, then, I typed "stat .Xauthority", (logged,) and saw my "User" name in the infos - understanding I was owner (of what you wanted to know about !), after what I typed "sudo service lightdm restart", little wait ...and TADA ! (...'and' without any metacity stuff bugging around) the nightmare was over !

I consider questions as abandoned if the question was unclear or was specific to some version of some software and that version is EOL or no longer available and not enough info is provided.

OK, 1) don't post in the answers area. That area only for answers. Information goes into question pos or here, in the comments. 2) running unity with sudo makes it start sure, but a lot of indicators will be missing. Go to Ctrl + Alt + F1 , login like I told you, and run sudo service lightdm restart command. That will restart unity, should be OK. If you cannot log in, make sure .Xauthority is owned by your user, not root. I'm off to sleep now, it's night time in my place — Sergiy Kolodyazhnyy Mar 29 '16 at 6:33

I was trying to make some sense out of the deleted answer.

@Kulfy oh, well it sounds like those questions are probably not useful and should probably be closed... that's just not a definition of "abandoned" I would have expected
@Kulfy I read that but I could not make any sense out of it
time to go clean the floor

@Zanna I was wondering is it worth posting a CW answer out of the comments since Unity is no longer maintained?

(unrelated) dupe

@Kulfy yeah, I'm not sure how useful that question is. If restarting the display manager fixed it, presumably it would have been fine on the next boot. Still, maybe there is some stuff worth knowing in there.

I'll try to post a CW answer.

This edit changes the meaning of the post (the OP did not express being certain that there was no physical damage). Besides that, it makes the post's wording worse rather than better.

Rejected.

hmm
the edit has 3 reviews
but it may need fixing
I have made a rule not to do any work after dinner though
so, good $(your time) all & catch you later

@Zanna I think the system permits that and applies the edit afterwards. It's still shown as rejected in the suggester's profile. This should probably be considered a bug because it results in material written by someone else being attributed only to the late editor.
However, I've re-edited from the original version of the post for a different reason than that: the edit contained the same unsubstantiated claim that was in the suggested edit.
