Unclear? Or maybe it could be considered a duplicate of something about why su doesn't work out-of-the-box as a non-root user on Ubuntu.

@Natty ah, yeah. AU shouldn't probably have the self-answer filter.
uh, looks like I should add that command here as well.

@BhargavRao [ Natty ] Link to Post 5.0; Proposed comment: NAAlowrep;

Yep, now blacklisted

I'm not sure if this is relevant, but I do see a lot of good self-answers on AU, including self-answers that are good but might look NAA at first glance. But those particular two self-answers were instead attempts to add new information, and not to present a solution.

1:56 AM
Yeah, on SO, Nat is tracking only the old answers, so it is very very rare that an OP comes back after 30 days to add more information. So, on SO, it'll mostly be an answer. That filter is a negative filter and shows that a post is not a NAA. Here, we're scanning all the answers, so it is not useful having that filter.
But as of now, Nat is still running v3, where separate filters for different sites isn't possible. Once I manage to find some time to dev, then I can get the v4 of Nat running, where it's completely customizable for different sites.

Kinda XY-problem:

Q: Extensions missing from Tweak Toll menu

MiladioussAfter installing gnome-tweak-tool and gnome-shell-extensions on Ubuntu 16.04, I am still missing Extensions under Tweak Tool UI. How can I resolve this issue so I can use GNOME Extensions from https://extensions.gnome.org/ on my Chrome or Firefox? sudo apt-get install gnome-tweak-tool sudo apt-...

OP has Unity, but complains GNOME extensions are not working/available. I believe that's the expected behaviour.

I think you can just post an answer explaining that, then.

@BhargavRao This post is intended as a success report (basically a thanks post) but the surrounding context is necessary to discern that. It's NAA and I flagged it as such on the site. But should posts like that be reported to Natty as NAA?

@EliahKagan tricky. On SO, we prefer custom flags for those, so we don't flag them as NAA (and therefore no report to Nat). But on AU, if you're flagging as NAA, then do report them.

Also, (unrelated), I've been seeing some errors while calling API for AU, but nothing while calling the API for SO. There's something amiss, but I'm not able to find out what it is. I'll check the code again, tomorrow.
@Natty things like these should have been detected automatically.

Should link-only answers similarly be reported to Natty? Sometimes one can fix them by adding information from the linked source. This post is flaggable, but if someone wanted to watch the whole video (it doesn't appear to be spam or anything) and decide if it's worthwhile to write a summary...
@BhargavRao Is that related to the errors accessing AU through the SE API? (It's the same API, right?)

@EliahKagan yep, report LOAs as well. That helps me tune the link only detection.

OK, will do.

It is the same API, but I dunno why SO one is working, but AU one is throwing errors. I should probably log them properly.

Q: MobyDroid - Android Device Manager (for Linux, Windows and MacOS)

BiluxMobyDroid is a simple and cross-platform Android Devices Manager. It runs on any operating system with Java support (Mac OS X, Windows, Linux, BSD, Solaris...). THIS IS JUST A BETA RELEASE ! I have been running linux from while now. And what I noticed is there is no GUI Android Devices Manager ...

(just because OP added a disclosure...)

I think it does qualify as spam, yes.
I have commented to let them know that they should not post it here, since they seemed unsure about that in the post. They will probably delete it. But I have also flagged it as spam. There have been far less brazen instances of borderline spam that were deleted as spam, so I feel like it would not be reasonable to hold off flagging spam in this case. If they delete the post themselves before it is deleted as spam, then I believe the system will not penalize them for spamming.

Strangely, someone upvoted it and countered my downvote.

10:52 PM
When Natty posted that, shouldn't it have posted a message for it in this room, too? @BhargavRao

11:08 PM
Oh, so you got Natty in here since I last checked.
Nice.

@EliahKagan Nopes, I've added that for debubugging that other problem. The ones without [ | Sentinel ], don't take any feedback.

@BhargavRao Ah, I see. Thanks -- sorry to bother you about it.

np. Still trying to figure out what's the issue :/

So... that post has been around a while, even since we flagged it. Perhaps people aren't comfortable flagging it as spam. If it's not going to be deleted by the OP or as spam, then maybe we should go ahead and vote to close it? (cc @pomsky)

11:37 PM
@EliahKagan Since we flagged as a spam, the ball's in moderators' court now, innit?
But we can also close as unclear (?) as a pre-emptive measure and later delete it. Should we do that?

If nothing else happens, a moderator will (eventually) handle the flag, yes. But many spam flags are handled automatically by the system when enough of them are received to delete the post without moderator action. Also, if the post is deleted for another reason, then that, too, will clear the spam flags, usually marking them helpful.
@pomsky I'm not sure if it's best to take any other action. I do think it would be acceptable for us to cast close votes on the question.

okay, as unclear?

That would be okay, but I think off-topic -> not about Ubuntu would be better.
The software they're (perhaps in some sense unintentionally) spamming about supposedly would run on Ubuntu, but it's not a question about Ubuntu, and it doesn't even appear to be specifically directed toward Ubuntu users.

aye, aye. cap'n. VTC-ed as OT.

:)
I really don't know what's best here. So I hope I'm not coming across as a reliable source of best practices in this matter.

11:44 PM
Something unrelated, today I found out there's a daily cap on number of comment-upvotes (unrelated to votes on posts). I tried to upvote your comment. but it said daily limit is reached. Never noticed that before!

Yeah, the limit for comment upvotes is 30. And it includes comment upvotes that the system casts for us automatically when we vote to close a question as a duplicate, it's not the fifth close vote, and there is already an automatic "Possible duplicate" comment for the same target.

Aha, now it makes sense.

This edit is correct and should be approved, even though the edit summary is really bad (and may result in it getting rejected, which is why I'm mentioning it here -- but please do check it over yourself first before approving, as usual, if you choose to review it).
