OT no-repro, the problem went away by itself - I have been using Darktable and GIMP independently and find this to be quite functional, so I'll leave things as they are.

@Zanna You may want to have a look at the revisions here, someone disagrees with your edit

@pomsky what do you think? I think the question had a terrible title, and my edit didn't make any answer invalid
If that user really wants to interpret the question as being only what's in the title, it's obviously a dupe
I really, really, really hate bad titles
Bad titles mean wasted time for visitors
But people only care about their willfully misinterpreted downvoted crappy answers
Did that user who rolled back even read the question after I edited it?
That user normally does very constructive things

So I am very upset
@pomsky voted to reopen
@karel not no-repro, OP doesn't want an answer but others may, and there's already a good answer from xenoid imho
But I'm extremely upset about that question so I shouldn't talk about it
I can't let it have that title :(
Well I rolled it back to my edit
I didn't even change the body except to correct the formatting
It still asks about PATH
(Misunderstandingly)
No justification for keeping the XY problem title and confusing visitors

6:34 AM
@Zanna Of course, I think "XY problem" is one of the leading causes of having questions remain unanswered
and one is not supposed to write an answer to only the "title of the question"

@Zanna In my opinion no one on that page is paying attention to the most important thing of all not to mention the tone of the discourse. So as not to allow my idea to get lost completely, I decided to evacuate the "GIMP installed via FlatPak" webpage and make my same point in a more explicit and articulated way on another Ask Ubuntu webpage.

@Zanna Even if you don't agree that the question is off topic I think it would still be a better idea to close it as a duplicate of Open RAW image files in GIMP that works on all versions of GIMP, including GIMP 2.10 from the default repositories in 18.10. However the accepted answer does not work on snap or flatpak packages, only apt packages.

@pomsky rejected the edit as an "attempt to reply"

@karel I could get behind that suggestion :)

looks like this question can be closed as a dupe of that one when it's reopened

@Zanna This question has been reopened and it can be closed as a duplicate of the link in the comment below the question.

done, thanks!

hmm did I misinterpret this person's original answer? It was certainly lacking detail...
