7:24 AM
got a new toaster hand-me-down from my dad
he installed Mint on it, but we don't like that

7:48 AM
wow - the sound patch for my (normal) toaster is getting merged in 4.13

4 hours later…
11:31 AM
lol is the new toaster better the old one?

nah
the old one is better, because it's a newer, smaller, lighter machine that's more comfortable for me to type on, and a faster CPU and SSD
but the new toaster has more RAM, more storage, and I just installed Xubuntu on it without having to do anything weird haha

mmm tasty RAM

I had all but forgotten this room existed. :)

i thought you might do arch again ;)
@EliahKagan whoa looks like you were actually one of the original owners of this room

Indeed.
(Or I was added as an owner shortly after the room was made. I don't remember which.)

11:37 AM
ah so nice to see such awesome people visiting here ^_^

Does that mean I'm also an awesome person? o_O

@BhargavRao obviously
look at that userlist :) :)

@BhargavRao Hold on let me check... Affirmative.

sweats nervously
Yay! Awesome person - checked

11:46 AM
haha it's a great honour that you lurk here

lol, thanks :D

maybe I should ask them to elaborate... last seen 20th May

hi
Tried again and got a reply
wow! We've got Eliah in this room!

ikr!
we are fans haha
@BhargavRao it has more than a link, perhaps as much as it can have :/
@BhargavRao however I am going to vote to delete than answer as it seems to be totally useless

@Zanna ah, the "Try to update your kernel" part seems like an answer. :/

12:37 PM
@BhargavRao and "this is a bug" is also an answer, kind of, although that really belongs in the comments by itself
If it was valid, I could upvote it
but it's just trash
"found this irrelevant thing on google by pasting part of your question into the box. Didn't bother to actually read it but HTH"

Sad that non 20k users can't do anything about bad answers except downvote and comment.
@Zanna lol, yeah.

@BhargavRao yeah... if jokerdino was here he might take pity on our lack of hammers

Yeah, he's become busy apparently. :/

if there were just a couple more people who regularly checked the delete votes page we might be able to get rid of stuff like that more easily
have you heard from him?

I did ping him in a mod only room where he said that he'd be busy for a few weeks.

12:42 PM
:) I hope he will come back and lurk with us again

Yeah, he'll only be away during the busy days. ;)
btw, I might get busy from next month, so I might not be in active mode.

hmm I hope it's a good thing for you
and hope you will visit us when you can

Yep, that's for sure.

1:15 PM
:)
@Anwar that's good to know
sorry I got sidetracked!

1 hour later…
2:36 PM
Hey :)
thanks

:)

2 hours later…
4:47 PM
@edwinksl I will do later, but I have to do some urgent work for my dad, so installed using USB I had to hand the easiest possible system for me to use haha

interesting delay in response...

haha I missed that comment earlier

3 hours later…
7:46 PM
Hey, if anyone free can you send me a screengrab of this? askubuntu.com/questions/789170/… Thanks!

@Zanna It seems to me (for the reason given in my second comment, at least), that we can really just delete this post as not-an-answer. What do you think?
As you said, it's not very clear, and as I mentioned in my first comment, it's massively dangerous as it does something quite different from what it is intended to do, but the clearest problem with it is that it doesn't seem to address the question asked.
@BhargavRao Sure. It's a thanks post. It quotes the last paragraph of this other answer (though it applies formatting differently) and just says "thanks ." after it. It looks like this:

8:04 PM
@EliahKagan thanks :)

No problem.

8:39 PM
@EliahKagan oh yes I agree that it misses the point of the question and we can flag it. It might even have been posted maliciously thinking about it

2 hours later…
10:10 PM
Unfortunately trying to remove wine* is a common enough mistake -- and I think may occasionally may skate past problems, depending on what Ubuntu flavor and release are installed -- that I don't suspect it's malicious, unless there's other reason to think so.
