(unrelated) Often users don't realize that the filesystem is case-sensitive and they try to cd, cp, chmod, etc., with their Documents, Desktop, or some such directory as the operand, except they write it documents, desktop`, etc. I'm pretty sure that's what happening here, though perhaps they're also not in their home directory. What's our best question for that?
