@EliahKagan I didn't worry about that, I knew what you meant. I mean, although I mentioned the question and I think it's the most upvoted one about this, I don't like this answer
because we don't know that the error isn't going to be about an important package with many dependencies
If the question you have not answered needs information to answer it that is not in the answer you have posted elsewhere and doesn't belong there, then it's probably not a duplicate.
the script I mention in the comment fixes some other things specific to the device as well as adding bootia32.efi, which is enough to boot the USB. The problem they mention is that they can't boot the USB. But I guess it would be unfair to leave them in that state
Unless the comment is mostly explaining how the answer applies (and thus contains a link to the page with the answer it's explaining), I would suspect it's not a duplicate. It may be that I don't adequately understand the situation, I guess. But questions that have the same or similar answers are not really duplicates if the entire answer has to be rewritten so that it makes sense that it applies to each one.
Im not sure if @Zanna is going to post the answer but all I needed to do is add a file to the boot drive and make sure secure boot was off.
Here is the file Ubuntu on 32-bit UEFI (only) based tablet pc
I'm abandoning posting my answer for now because the script author posted a script-free guide which is up to date and seems better than using the old script, but I have to test all of it. And I was ready to sleep 4 hours ago :..(
