@TheDestroyer Do you have any translation of the Skanda Purana other than the one published by Motilal Banarsidass?

2:00 AM
The answer written to Ramanuja's answer is a copy of Sai's comment. @TheDestroyer @Pandya @Tezz @KeshavSrinivasan @SwiftPushkar @Yogi
It is low quality answer. Cast a delete vote @SwiftPushkar @Tezz @Yogi in case moderators take some time.

A: Why did Sri Ramanuja refuse to hail Shiva? What was the need to prove that Vishnu is the one true God?

Surya Ram KumarBeing Supreme is being one, The higest devotion in any form is to be considered. According to Ramanuja's Vishistadvaita, Hari is Supreme and all other Gods are separate from Him, although they are a part of Him. According to Advaita Hari and Parameshwara are One as we know it.

Actually according to Ramanuja's Vishistadvaita, Hari is Supreme and all other Gods are separate from Him, although they are a part of Him. According to Advaita Hari and Parameshwara are One. But even according to Advaita, why should He bend to the will of the dictator king? Ramanuja is an elightened saint. He has no fear of the King or anyone else. Why should one change His Ishta Deva just because someone said so. Although all Gods are One, still one has an inclination for the Ishta Devata, and God assumes that form for the sake His beloved and takes Him/Her to God. All the best sir — Sai Sep 10 '15 at 16:37
Most of the answer is copy. Even if it is unintentional, it is a low quality answer.

@KeshavSrinivasan No. I have Motialal books only.
@KeshavSrinivasan But i searched the verse in Maheswara Khanda and Kasi Khanda both in Sanskrit and English separately.
in Agama and Tantra, 20 hours ago, by The Destroyer
@Rickross I searched whole text searchable Shiva and Linga puranas for "Akasam...." quote.
in Agama and Tantra, 20 hours ago, by The Destroyer
Now, i will search fatty Skanda Purana.
I guess it could be in Nagara Khanda.

4:38 AM
@TheDestroyer Oh, I wasn't asking about the Akasam Lingam verse. I was trying to see if I could get an alternate translation of verses 14 and 15 here: indianscriptures.com/Content/Articles/PDFs/27480/…
@TheDestroyer I think the verse is saying that (Vaivasvata) Manu became the lord of men in the 11th Mahayuga, not that the 11th Manu became the lord of men after one Mahayuga.

5:04 AM
@Friendy - Hii , You can download most of them from indianscripture.com site.Most of them are large files so its not possible to send them through mail. But will give you google drive link for some of them in few min. , you can download them from there😊

@Friendy Ask @TheDestroyer, he has a Google Drive folder which he shares with people containing Purana PDF's.
@Tezz I just posted a question related to that Skanda Purana chapter I showed you:
0
Q: During what Yugas did Hiranyakashipu, Mahabali, and Ravana rule?

Keshav SrinivasanThis excerpt from the Prabhasa Kanda of the Skanda Purana describes how long different demons ruled the three worlds for: Hiranyakashipu shone as the king for one hundred seven million two hundred eighty thousand years. He was the emperor of the three worlds.... He performed a very severe pe...

5:23 AM
@TheDestroyer please share link of google drive folder ,thanks in advance :)

@KeshavSrinivasan Let me see sanskrit verses.
@Friendy your mail id.

5:52 AM
@SwiftPushkar QPD increased but answers per question decreased.

@SreeCharan - Yes , a good action plan is needed , OR we can request SE about letting us to graduate as successfully operating since 2 years , if we all ask one Q per day it will ve easy πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ’πŸŒ·

@SreeCharan SE thumb rule for graduation is at least 10 QPD. But this isn't the only rule. But if this happens, there are more chances of graduation.

@KeshavSrinivasan Oh ok... Nice!...

@Friendy shared.

thanks

6:07 AM
@Friendy i deleted your email id as it is public chat.

@TheDestroyer I just finished reading Matsya Purana (escaping some parts)... I feel it's like Itihaasa rather than Purana... It goes very deep in general stories like story of Yayati and so on other...

@Tezz Yes. Matsya Purana stories are very interesting. Moreover, it's very recent. Vaivasvara Manvantara of Sweta varaha kalpa.
Btw, what do you think about kings of future?

@TheDestroyer but parts of adtronomy is horrible... eg. It says circumference of moon is twice that of sun... I'm not sure how to intrepret these types of things...
@TheDestroyer Now, I want to read Narada Purana... where is it avaliable for download?...
@TheDestroyer where does it contain about king of future?...

@Tezz - πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

@SwiftPushkar haha what happened?... πŸ˜€πŸ˜‚πŸ˜€πŸ˜‚

6:15 AM
@Tezz ohh.. i don't remember that. I think they meant moon (when seen from earth) and sun (when seen from earth). Lol.

@Tezz - SB is also talking abt.future kings

@TheDestroyer then also it is similar in size... πŸ˜€πŸ˜€ now we can say from such place where size of moon looks twice as that of sun... haha...

@Tezz i think it says 2 kings from Andhra or south rule Bharatavarsha before Kalki. I rember vaguely. But i think commentator interprets them as some kings who already ruled India.

@Tezz - " I'm not sure how to intrepret these types of things...

@Tezz Did you see Sanskrit verses?

6:18 AM
@TheDestroyer I found that King Lomasa got boon of very long life... he got boon that only one hair of body will fall from his body in a kalpa... and he will live until all hairs fall from body... πŸ˜€πŸ˜€
@TheDestroyer about that sun moon thing?..

@Tezz yes.

@TheDestroyer yeah... but I think it is related to eosteric concept... eg describing horses of sun it says... 7 horses are 7 Vedic metres... Day and Night are it's wheels etc...

@Tezz These types of boons are dangerous too. Long life can dangerous since we can't expect only happiness in long life.

@TheDestroyer In Tirumantiram, Tirumular explains about very deep meanings of Sun and Moon relatef things....
@TheDestroyer but Dadhichi was clever and he also asked 'Life free from distress' along with Invincibility...

@Tezz See Story of Indradyumna in Kaumarika Khanda. He comes to Earth after spending some time in Brahmaloka. Brahma sends him to earth. This story is very intersting with full of suspense.
@Tezz ok.

6:24 AM
@TheDestroyer In Matsya Purana?...

@Tezz haha. But he became weapon to Indra.
@Tezz Kaumarika Khanda- Maheshwara Khanda of Skanda Purana.

@TheDestroyer Agastya got boon that he would live until 1000 Brahmas come and go...
@TheDestroyer Oh ok I'll read that ....

@Tezz ohh..
Where is it mentioned?

@TheDestroyer in the Matsya Purana...

@Tezz ohh ok. I think i forgot.

6:28 AM
@TheDestroyer it's told in that chapter related to Vrata/Puja of Agastya...

@Tezz ok.. I think i skipped some Vratas. They were boring.

@TheDestroyer yeah...

@Tezz i think Narada Purana in both Sanskrit and English is not available.

Should I delete the answer as it is copy paste edit? As @TheDestroyer someone has downvoted as well.

A: What is Shaktipata?

Rohit Singh RathoreAccording to Kashmiri Shaivism there are hierarchies in self realization. Similarly, there are ānandas (7 in number) associated with these self realization. Although, one can have lower realizations without grace (to some extent) but to attain ultimate ānanda, which is jagadananda - The highest a...

@RohitSinghRathore ohh..from where did you copy it?

6:36 AM
Wikipedia

I was wondering why you got downvote.

@TheDestroyer ok... where is only English version avaliable?..

@RohitSinghRathore i think pure copy paste from wiki is not good.
@Tezz I will update my Purana answer.

Edit also.

@TheDestroyer Ok...

6:52 AM
@Tezz I updated the Puranas answer with links.

7:19 AM
@KrishnShweta when did you asked..?
@TheDestroyer Oh ok... Thanks..

2 hours later…
8:52 AM
@Tezz Happy to know that you don't remember it.
But I remember....

9:21 AM
@KrishnShweta Oh ho ho ho ho.... I'm not sure what you are talking about... πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜€πŸ˜‚ haha...

9:33 AM
@SreeCharan - Wikipedia is saying there is only one charan in Kali yuga - en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindu_units_of_time

@Tezz nthg -_-

Shayad aaj madam ka mood thik nahi hai πŸ˜ƒπŸ«

Aisa kuch nahi hai sir. Accha nahi lag raha tha tho........

@KrishnShweta - Ok πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ’ , keep smiling

You too...
@SwiftPushkar What is Charana?

9:48 AM
@KrishnShweta - Charan = parts , Yuga is divided into parts ,so each part is a charana , but the actual meaning of charan is foot , the word symbolically used here to denote partsπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ˜Š
@KrishnShweta - see the image , how yugas are divided into parts ⬆

@KrishnShweta - Read this , Also SB & Vishnu Purana is talking in detail about yugas - en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuga

10:07 AM
@SwiftPushkar OK..

10:24 AM
@SwiftPushkar LOL

@SreeCharan - Actually my message is related to question you asked , i am finding another ref.so that this can be proved that kali yuga has only one charana , as stated in puranas , πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

@SwiftPushkar Oho...OK. I took it other way.

@SreeCharan - πŸ˜€ ok , no problem πŸ’πŸ‘πŸ‘

@SwiftPushkar I think in many posts on hinduism.SE, there is mention of timeline of yugas. there are only 432000 years i

@SreeCharan - Yes , but your enquiry specifically about how kali-yuga is divided ,i.e. currently we are in pratham charana etc.and when the transition will occur , so those posts are not much imp. as the shown in image.

10:36 AM
@SwiftPushkar But Rickross's answer is according to bhavishya purana. In that answer, he talked about second half.

@SreeCharan - ok , which answer , can you pls.post that link hereπŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

@SwiftPushkar Same question.
11
Q: How will we know the end of first part of the Kali yuga?

Sree CharanAs we know, There are four yugas (Satya, Treta, Dwapara, Kali). Every yuga consists of four parts (known as pādā in sanskrit). Many are aware that in the daily rituals we perform, we say Kali yuge prathama pāde as a part of Sankalpa of that pooja. It is quite common in almost every pooja. My q...

@SreeCharan - ok πŸ‘

@SwiftPushkar Even if there is only one charana or pada, I think 4,32,000 years will be divided into 4 parts i.e.,. 1,08,000 years.

@SreeCharan - yes quite possible , it could be divided as such

5 hours later…
3:35 PM
@TheDestroyer - got mail πŸ“§?

3:54 PM
@Tezz - 2 min difference between both of u πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸ‘

I think 4:3:2:1 is the ratio.

@RohitSinghRathore 4:3:2:1 is the ratio of the lengths of the four Yugas, but I don't know any scriptures that say that the four Padas of a single Yuga are in that ratio.

@RohitSinghRathore - yes , the wikipedia is also saying that , and in Bhagvat purana the same ratio is given ,but its not preety clear that SB is making parts of yugas or notπŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ’

4:21 PM
Yes @KeshavSrinivasan @SwiftPushkar Nothing about padas have been mentioned. :)
Good night @SwiftPushkar πŸ˜ƒ

@SwiftPushkar Yeah... I didn't know Keshav was posting answer... and when I posted there was answer... haha.. πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

@RohitSinghRathore - GN πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸŒ› TC ,BYE
@Tezz - Yes saw that πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ˜€

@SwiftPushkar saw it. Will update shortly.

@TheDestroyer - Ok πŸ˜ŠπŸ’

@SwiftPushkar I already have index. But your header is good. It has Shiva's image.

4:38 PM
@TheDestroyer - Yes and also want some background to pages , like old manuscript style background on which the chapter names will look nice🎴
@TheDestroyer - Yes you said u are also preparing one , πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ“ƒ

@SwiftPushkar ok. Good.
@SwiftPushkar Actually, i made individual files. But just need to append them.

@TheDestroyer - ohh ok , will try to finish soon , its pending from longπŸ˜ƒ

@SwiftPushkar ok. Also, two chapters are missing in Shiva Purana. So, will combine all PDFs again. Will do it soon.

@TheDestroyer - ok , are those chapters are from the part which i have compiled ?

@SwiftPushkar Don't know exactly which chapters.

4:46 PM
@TheDestroyer - ok , but uptill Haven't seen any number missing ,but again will check for proper numberings

@TheDestroyer - ok I got that , I was talking abt.pdf also and said that I will check the further part of pdf for missing chapters by looking at Chapter no.πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸ‘

@SwiftPushkar In regards to your comment on my question, do you have a specific scripture in mind other than MB for explanation of Achyuta ThiruNaamam?

5:05 PM
