@Pandya @Tezz I just posted a question about Adi Shankaracharya's Brahma Sutra Bhashya:
0
Q: How do Sri Vaishnavas interpret the "Vedas are not Vedas" quote in the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad?

Keshav SrinivasanIn Hindu philosophy there are three main Pramanas or valid means of knowledge: Pratyaksha or sensory evidence, Anumana or reasoning, and Shabda or revelation/scripture. But as I discuss in this question, Advaitins believe that these Pramanas are only valid in the perspective of someone still liv...

@KeshavSrinivasan - Hello 🌷 :)
@SwiftPushkar Vanakkam :-)
15:55
@KeshavSrinivasan Do you know any Sri Vaishnava Acharya who can answer your unanswered questions?
@TheDestroyer No, I don't know any Sri Vaishnava Acharyas personally.
@TheDestroyer I've met two Sri Vaishnava Acharyas in my life, the Parakala Matham Jiyar and one other, but I didn't get a chance to ask either of them questions.
@KeshavSrinivasan Ok. Peripa of my friend is priest in a Temple in Perungalathur. I think they are Sri Vaishnavas. Peripa is pandit for a temple in Perungalathur, Chennai, i think this temple.
@TheDestroyer Also a few weeks ago I attended the lecture of a Sri Vaishnava lecturer (not an Acharya) named Velukkudi Krishnan, but I didn't have an opportunity to ask him questions either.
@KeshavSrinivasan I even visited that temple but i forgot as i wasn't interested in these things at that time.
@TheDestroyer Yeah, that temple is a Sri Vaishnava temple, since the description lists statues of Alwars and Sri Vaishnava Acharyas.
16:03
@KeshavSrinivasan I will ask my friend to join his family elders this site.
@TheDestroyer Yeah, that would be good.
16:16
@KeshavSrinivasan but my friend is attracted to ISCKON now.
His mother and maternal grandmother are staying in Vrindavan permanently in ISCKON.
@KeshavSrinivasan they are from Trichy i think Sri Rangam to be precise.
16:36
My understanding is , Nirguna in Visistadvaita doesn't mean total absence of all qualities. It means that all "heya" gunas i.e all inauspicious qualities are completely absent in Brahman. So, it reconciles all parts of Vedas , Upanishads, which says Brahman is saguna and nirguna i.e all parts of Upanishads and Vedas are fully valid. Unlike in advaita where they consider the verses which talk of Nirgunatva sublates the sagunatva. — Krishna yesterday
@KeshavSrinivasan ^^ How about it? I want to know how Vishishtadvaita interpret the term Nirguna.
Also I think you've seen the answer as well...
@KeshavSrinivasan - I want to ask one question abt Upanishdas on main site , & just want your opinion abt. this q. " How are Upanishdas are relevant in todays world" , is this question too broad , or i can safely post this question. What do you think?
Unclear what you're asking!
@Pandya - ok , what i mean is , how can the teaching of upanishdas are important even in todays modern world , since time's changed a lot , situation's , challanges changed lot since etc
@Pandya and how can we we make use of teachings of upanishdas to find solutions for problems we are facing in todays world etc.
@SwiftPushkar I want to say time can (though rarely) affect Smriti literature whereas Mukhya Upanishads are considered Shruti (eternal).
@SwiftPushkar I'm not sure whether a chance to be closed as too broad or primarily opinion based. But If you want to ask, don't hesitate or fear; feel free to ask.
@Pandya ok , yes you are right , i know this , but what i want by asking this q . Is to tell how upanishdas are important , so that those who dont know abt them will come to know abt. Importance.
16:48
@SwiftPushkar Good!
I also want people know and understand the importance of Upanishads! (The Vedanta itself) (The extracted knowledge from Vedas) (Lead to Absolute/Ultimate Reality/Truth)
@Pandya ok :) grt. 💐

𝓑𝓮𝓼𝓽 𝓸𝓯 𝓛𝓾𝓬𝓴! ?????
@KrishnShweta i think , this is some graphics , but not been properly shown by site
@KrishnShweta may be some text also
OK..........
@SwiftPushkar I have 1 pic, tell me what's that.
@KrishnShweta ok post it :)
17:50
@KrishnShweta the pic. Is of shiv shankar for sure , cause chandra , and ganga , snake all are in pic. But cant tell the meaning , it might be related to tantra part , or some sadhu matha etc.
@SwiftPushkar Yes. But I was asking what is in His hands?
@KrishnShweta in general that is called "Chilim" , and used by many sadhus ,saints etc. eg. Saint gajanan maharaj frm. MH
@TriyugiNarayanMani - have u seen the you tube link i have given to you on upanishdas ?
@SwiftPushkar Ya, he is using that as well. But why?
@KrishnShweta i also don't know the answer , Destroyer might provide us the answer
18:05
@KrishnShweta Lol. He doesn't smoke.
@KrishnShweta But Naga Sadhus do that to retain concentration of Him.
7
Q: Does lord Shiva smoke Chillum?

Mr_GreenI have seen many people who worship lord Shiva who prefer to be naked and they have ash (Bhabhuti) powdered all over their body. I am not sure what these people are known as but I have seen them in Kumbhmela on Television. These people always drink Bhang and smokes Chillum. They say that lord S...

@KrishnShweta There are no references in scriptures to support this.
@TheDestroyer Okay.
@TheDestroyer ok nice find :)
@SwiftPushkar I had searched a lot to find references for this but i couldn't find. I think just Vamacharas and some Sadhus do this.
I apologize for asking this (feeling shy as well) but............
@TheDestroyer yes , we can see those sadhus in kumbhamela ect.
18:09
Why few saints stays naked?
@KrishnShweta That is DIGAMABARA (directions as their clothes), so some saints are naked.
@KrishnShweta Shiva is Digambara. Shiva Pnachakshari stotra says, " Nityaya Suddyaya Digamabaraya"
@TheDestroyer Oh!!
@TheDestroyer but how our society allow them?
@KrishnShweta Even Lord Shiva roamed in forest naked and wives of sages living in forest were attracted to Him. Sages cursed that His "Phallus" would fall and it emerged as column of fire without knowing that Digambara was Shiva.
@KrishnShweta His Phallus is Linga. And Yoni is Shakti. Shiva Linga represents cosmic union of male and female energy.
18:17
@KrishnShweta Well, they are not subjected to Social norms. They are wanderers.
@KrishnShweta According to Shiva Purana, Shakti is responsible for birth of females. Brahma asks Ardhanarishwara Shiva to give His half (Shakti, literally primordial energy) to produce females. Thereafter, females were created by Brahma and people replicated.
@TheDestroyer but i always wonder , how people chosse the path to become sadhus , i mean , they dont get married , or decide to become sadhu at small age ?
@KrishnShweta But Shiva Linga is not Phallus in vulgar sense. It is source of everything. Indeed Brahmanda is Linga.
18:22
@TheDestroyer wht abt their parents relatives etc?
@SwiftPushkar We must first get rid of RUNAS or debts. Those who married should beget sons or else they should renunciate everything.
@TheDestroyer yeah. Sadhus won't feel any attractions?
@KrishnShweta Shiva bewilders you first. His acts looks somewhat against the social norm, but point here is everything is created by God and we must choose those norms based on our requirements.
@TheDestroyer ok
@SwiftPushkar

http://hinduism.stackexchange.com/q/8929/3500
@KrishnShweta No. They won't get any attraction. Sometimes,they will get but they want to get rid of Maya and they yearn for Moksha.
18:26
@TheDestroyer OK.....
@TheDestroyer good question :)
@KrishnShweta Sex is divine in Hindusim. It gives power to create. But it became topic of taboo after Islamic invasions.
@KrishnShweta See Tezz answer to know about Shiva Linga.
6
A: Why is Shiva primarily worshipped in a linga form?

TezzThis question can be answered into two aspects: 1) Why is Linga form worshipped ? 2) Why is Shiva primarily worshipped in Linga form ? 1) Why is Linga form worshipped ? Among the 18 major Mahapuranas one of the Purana is named Linga Purana, thus glorifying the status of Linga. Linga is ...

@TheDestroyer have one objection in one answer. But first I look at Tezz answer.
@KrishnShweta Divine sex is Maithuna, union of Shiva and Shakti (Parvati).
Maithuna (Devanagari: मैथुन) is a Sanskrit term used in Tantra most often translated as "sexual union" in a ritual context. It is the most important of the five makara and constitutes the main part of the Grand Ritual of Tantra variously known as Panchamakara, Panchatattva, and Tattva Chakra. Although some writers, sects and schools, e.g. Yogananda, consider this to be a purely mental and symbolic act, a look at different variations (and translations) of the word maithuna clearly shows that it refers to male-female couples and their union in the physical, sexual sense and is synonymous with kriya...
@TheDestroyer@KrishnShweta - Chalo , i will take your leave , Bye for now GN TC to both:)🌛
18:30
@KrishnShweta This is sex not for orgasms. But for divine Union or Union of Shiva Shakti.
@SwiftPushkar Ok Bye.
@KrishnShweta Vamacharas (Aghoras) do that but sad part is most (98%) of these Aghoras don't feel it as Shiva-Shakti union but feel as normal sex for Bhoga (pleasure). Due to this, Aghoras have very bad name and many Acharyas censure them.
@KrishnShweta Left handed part is very difficult. Very few people know their esoteric meaning. You must have good control of Indriyas. So, people generally follow Vedic paths.
I will give one link.
@KrishnShweta According to Shiva Purana, All Purushas are Shiva and All women are Adi Shakti. This can be said as union of Atma with Prakriti.

Q: What is the punishment for consensual sex in Hinduism?

user4753If someone has sex with a maid or someone else's wife with their permission (mutual consent), what is the punishment for it as per Hindu scripture?

@KrishnShweta Yes. This is offence. One should only do sex with his/her spouse.
and that too only for progeny.
@KrishnShweta Concept of "consent" doesn't work here. They will get their results.
I will describe my doubt. In that they says No punishment So consider this situation:
18:43
@KrishnShweta I think i already provided a link how sex before marriage is bad.
@KrishnShweta No. That user iammilind interprets in modern way. According to him, there is no sin of consensual sex.
@TheDestroyer Yeah. you have provided that link.
@KrishnShweta It creates Samskara or impressions in Subtle body, which is even carried after death. But some Samkaras or impressions in subconscious region of mind (part of Sooksham Sareera) can be wiped out by doing Yoga. That what sages or Rishis do in Himalayas. They literally clear these impressions of Karma and delete of all their Karma.
@TheDestroyer OK.........
@TheDestroyer Do our religion allow multiple marriages?
@TheDestroyer I mean more than one wife/husband
@KrishnShweta Days were different in olden days or to be precise in 10th century. Students followed strict Brahmacharya. They are 100% celibate. Even women wore short clothes (more like clothes of Tamanna in Dhivara song) but as men had their Indriyas in control, nothing happened. After Islamic rule, to avoid rapes, women increased their clothes length.
7
Q: What does Hinduism say about polygamy (multiple marriages)?

Registered UserAre there any references to polygamy (multiple marriages) and whether they are allowed or prohibited in Hinduism? At least in the Indian law, multiple marriages are banned for Hindus. But what do the sacred books say?

@KrishnShweta What objection do you have?
@TheDestroyer How about multiple husbands? :D
18:53

Q: Was Polyandry allowed prior to Mahabharata?

AbyI read in ACK Mahabharata-3 that Pandu convinces Kunti to have sons with Gods by giving reason that Polyandry was allowed in earlier times and it was Rishi Shwetaketu (son of Rishi Uddhalak) who has made rule for a women to not follow polyandry. He did so as his mother also use to follow polyandr...

@TheDestroyer My objection was that before marriage
@KrishnShweta BTW, do you know rules followed by Pandavas as husbands of Draupadi.
@TheDestroyer I guess 1 year 1 pandava would be her husband. No other 4 pandavas would enter in her room.
@KrishnShweta Draupadi should stay with each husband for 1 year and other should not enter into room of Draupadi when she was with a Pandava. If anybody enters, they should go for 12 yrs Vanavasam. Arjuna had his weapons in room and without knowing he entered and he did 12 yrs Vanavasam.
@KrishnShweta Yes.
@KrishnShweta before marriage?
@TheDestroyer Hmm..
19:00
@KrishnShweta i personally think sex before marriage is bad as it creates unnecessary attachments. That guy explains some AstRal tubes but I don't know where he read That.
@TheDestroyer That's what.
@KrishnShweta But still many Puranas say that as bad .
@TheDestroyer If a girl done that before marriage and later married some other guy. then God won't punish her?
@KrishnShweta She just face Karma.
Only she?

Q: On use of contraceptive methods and enjoying sex-life without being kandarpa

YogiKandarpa is a person who only uses his sexual power to beget good children form his dharmapatni or wife. So for being a kandarpa a person can only have sexual contact with his wife for having children. Therefore any type of sexual activity without this holy purpose is cause of attachment. Some e...

See student answer
Both who has done that.
@KrishnShweta The most dangerous Guna is Rajas. KAMA comes under Rajas. It gives us attachment. Due to attachment people suffer. So, indeed sex for pleasure belongs to this Rajas.
Okay.... I'll see the answer.
@TheDestroyer Thanks for all these clarifications :)
@KrishnShweta do you know meaning of Satva, Rajas and Tamas?
@TheDestroyer already we gave discussed about this. But I forgot the meanings. Sorry
@KrishnShweta You must know them to understand Hindu Philosophy properly.
@KrishnShweta but there are remedies for that sin. Dip in Ganga would erase all bad sins but only heartfelt dip.
@KrishnShweta so, technically, dip should erase impressions in subconscious mind of Sookshma sareeram.
@TheDestroyer Okay...........
19:16
@KrishnShweta i think there are other remedies also.
@TheDestroyer I just wish people will stay out of these things.
@KrishnShweta i also read that Kanya Danam would make bride parents go to Brahma loka.
@KrishnShweta me too. People are deluded very much. But indeed, this Kali Yuga is great. People
@KrishnShweta me too. People are deluded very much. But indeed, this Kali Yuga is great.
@TheDestroyer Yeah.
@KrishnShweta True spiritual aspirants are rare and they can get Moksha with ease.
@TheDestroyer Hmm....
19:22
@KrishnShweta both good and bad are created by God.
@KrishnShweta Kali demon is son of Brahma
@KrishnShweta it's only Gunas that decide a person which are acquired by vasanas
Of previous births
Okay.
@TheDestroyer That's it.
@TheDestroyer Thanks.
@KrishnShweta ok.
@TheDestroyer Good night :)

@Pandya Yes, everything that the user Krishna said is correct. Sri Vaishnavas believe that the term "Nirguna" in Hindu scripture means "no inauspicious qualities". Whereas Advaitins believe Brahman has no qualities at all. Sri Vaishnavas believe that there is no such thing as a being with no qualities.
