This question was not asled by the user Alp Sankhya. The same user posted another question supporting induism so that he can get sympathy and reputation.(I feel like this) @Pandya @Aghori @TheDestroyer @KeshavSrinivasan @SwiftPushkar

@SS Yeah. Saw that after closing the question. We can edit question and remove upvotes.

S S
@TheDestroyer I didn't upvote at all... :D
@TheDestroyer First of all, it is not a good question. People upvoted because it had something pro-hindu. And DV because it is asking some sensitive issues in Hinduism. We should overcome this habit.
Adding link is not needed @TheDestroyer

@Tezz could be. Planning to delete his question. But his account is different from Alpa Samkhya.

Good Morning @TheDestroyer @Tezz @SS @RakeshJoshi -:)
@SS - Which question ?

6:03 AM
@SwiftPushkar Good Morning...
@TheDestroyer yes, you should delete his question... as his intention is seen clearly from his previous question ..

oh already voted to keep it closed :)

@Tezz That could be a possible reason. "It is the greatest anti-hindu site" This was his statement.
@SwiftPushkar Good morning!

I think all such spam posts started from day after Anurag made chat available on Islam SE
But most of those rude accounts are from India.

Q: Two questions about Raavana

KetanFirst, how is Raavana a Rakshasa and a Brahmin at the same time? Second, if Raavana is Brahmin, how is he the king of Lanka? Since one's caste was determined based on one's karma, I would think Raavana to be a kshatriya by that logic.

we need better tittles then this
that's why auto duplicate check suggestion don't work

Q: Ashtavakra Gita :

user150700I want to read the Ashtavakra Gita. I find difficulty in finding the right translations and explanations. Can someone name some widely used translated forms of this book which contain the original slokas.

another incomplete weird title

S S
@AnkitSharma Done
@KrishnShweta Why do you think 9.32 is an interpolation?
A single word can't be injected into a verse because it alters the grammar of the verse.

@SS great
@SS WTF

7:37 AM
@KrishnShweta Sri Charan is correct. A single word can't be injected into verse. It alters grammar. I think they are misinterpreting Krishna.

So what is correct according to you both?

Is there any rule against edit spree here?

@SS @TheDestroyer What grammar you both are talking about? Can you people explain how the meaning will change?

7:58 AM
Done with my edit spree, will do second round soon

S S
@AnkitSharma is after a rampage.

only did 11
and they were needed
Mostly tagging standard are bit messed up

S S
8:15 AM
@KrishnShweta Every shloka in sanskrit has a specific chandas. If one random word is interpolated, then the chandas will be disturbed. So, it is next to impossible that single word "Striyo" is injected into 9.32.
Do you remember Utpalamala, champakamala from Telugu in tenth class?

My first language was Hindi. As far as I remember, in my second language(Telugu) there were no Utpalamala and champakamala. So, I don't know.

Vedic meter refers to the poetic meter in the Vedic literature. The study of Vedic meters, along with post-Vedic meters, is part of Chandas, one of the six Vedanga disciplines. == Overview == There are several other minor metres found in the Vedas, such as: Virāj: 4 padas of 10 syllables Kakubh == Gayatri meter == The shortest and most sacred of Vedic meters is the Gayatri metre. It consists of three octosyllabic feet (pada, 3x8) with 24 syllables. The following is an example of a Rigvedic hymn in Gayatri meter: Depending on the emphasis (da or DUM), the Vedic poets developed many varieties of...
Sanskrit prosody or Chandas refer to one of the six Vedangas, or limbs of Vedic studies. It is the study of poetic metres and verse in Sanskrit. This field of study was central to the composition of the Vedas, the scriptural canons of Hinduism, so central that some later Hindu and Buddhist texts refer to the Vedas as Chandas. The Chandas, as developed by the Vedic schools, were notable for including both linear and non-linear systems. The system was organized around seven major metres, state Annette Wilke and Oliver Moebus, called the "seven birds" or "seven mouths of Brihaspati", and each had...
@KrishnShweta ^^

Ok... as I'm not aware of these rules, can you please explain me the difference when stri is added and removed in that verse?

S S
8:34 AM
There are many interpretations to that verse which do not give meaning against women or caste.
@TheDestroyer That is obviously the primary room of the site. So, I like that room.
@KrishnShweta It is in Anushtup chandas. In which four verses are present with each 8 syllables. It is also written widely as 2X16. Every line in Gita has 16 syllables. Removal of the word makes 14 in the verse or 6 in the third verse. disturbance to that verse making 9.32 grammatically incorrect.
Krishna or Vyasa cannot make a grammatical mistake.

A: Why Vedas prefer Son over daughter?

SwiftPushkarThere is a verse in Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 6.4.17 , Which says - अथ य इच्छेद्दुहिता मे पण्डिता जायेत , सर्वमायु-रियादिति, तिलौदनं पाचयित्वा सर्पिम्षन्तमश्रीयाताम् ; इश्वरौ जनयितवै ||१७|| He who wishes that daughter to be born to him who would be a scholar and attain a full term o...

😀 Thank you

9:41 AM
@Tezz - are Tyaja त्याज्ज् (to be avoided) and forbidden are somewhat similar words OR are too different in their interpretations ?

@SwiftPushkar Nice answer....!...
@SwiftPushkar I think they are similar words..😀😀

@Tezz - ok , thanks , i am writing a answer of "what items are forbidden in chrarak samhita , but its talking about foods to be avoided so got confused about the sameness of two words .:)

S S
@SwiftPushkar To be abandoned, to be left, to be avoided.
Nishedha is the word for forbidden.

@SS - Yes , you are right , but when we talk about food , i think the items to be avoided or to be abandoned also falls in category of forbidden. What do you think ?@Tezz
@SS - editing of the title will also affect my answer , i have given the answer based on previous title

S S
@SwiftPushkar It doesn't. Edit the answer accordingly

9:58 AM
@SwiftPushkar yes it's same..

@SS - haha , edit the answer accordingly ... ??

S S
@SwiftPushkar Yes. The intention of the OP was finding verses with daughter.
How did my edit effect your answer?

@SS - i think , Op was previously was asking about why there are no verses ? But now it looks like , he wants what are the verses ?

S S
@SwiftPushkar He is quoting from a website. They are posts from that website

@SS - yes , but the Op is still active nd was present here some time ago , let him change the meaning of his question , how can we ? and after someone given the answer ?

S S
10:11 AM
@SwiftPushkar Present version doesn't effect your answer. In that version, the question has a prejudice.

@SS - hmm ok , sorry , but , anyone could now raise objection about my answer that its not valid ..So was concerned .. nothing else :)

S S
Who would raise objection? Send them to me :P
@SwiftPushkar I remember once you asked about eyes of shani

@SS - haha, yeah .😀

S S
@SwiftPushkar I wrote scriptures in the question instead of Veda. So your answer is valid

@SS - hmm , which scriptures have you wrote so far ... :D
@SS - oh , when ?

S S
10:21 AM
> Now its clear from above verses that people from Vedic period also wish a daughter child to be born to them.

@SwiftPushkar I don't answer because I am not good with scripture and have none with me, I know answer mostly from folk version of stories and TV shows :D
Can't say why other don't

S S
@AnkitSharma See deleted rooms of the site.

@SS seen a bit already, I think it's already cool down now

@AnkitSharma - hmm , ia was not talking about you actually , but may be in the beginning no scriptural ref. were necessary , but now it is , so i think because of that , may be they are not getting much time ..

@SwiftPushkar I think so

10:41 AM
@SS - Do you think is it ok to give sources of Astakshari mantra in a answer. ?

@SwiftPushkar Which answer? Where is the question?

@SS - i have written the answer of this question , but is not sure whether its ok to give answer with sourses of the mantra , because i remember @Yogi saying that it should not be reveled on sites like this one and in books also. So wanted clarification what you people will think ?

@SS - yeah , and i think he is trying to prove himself correct from that discussion

in Discussion on question by suman: Is it written anywhere in Ramayana that Ravana failed to defeat Nivatakavacha and Kalakeyas?, 7 hours ago, by suman
Ramananad's serial is best worst serial of india. According to original mahabharat, Hanumana never met with Arjuna......... WHY ARJUNA WAS BETTER THAN RAMA.....1) APART FROM ARJUNA NO ONE could shoot the arrow within a range of 2 miles.....2) Arjuna alone defeated all kaurava warrior in virat war, did Rama ever achieve this feat, in reality meghnad had defeated him

I am writing a answer from MB .. Of Course from neutral point of view .. and proving OR disproving superiority of either of these

S S
1.He shot rajasthan from Tamil Nadu 2. Kaurava warriors were killed by Bhima not Arjuna

@Pandya - images look nice in answer :)
@SS -
1.He shot rajasthan from Tamil Nadu - didn't got that , whts it ?

Q: Why couldn't or why didn't Lord Rama withdraw his Brahmastra when Arjuna could?

Prakash KThere are a few instances in Ramayana about Lord Rama firing Brahmastra weapons but couldn't withdraw it saying that a Brahmastra weapon never goes waste, but we see in Mahabharata that Arjuna while fighting with Ashwathama withdraws his Brahmastra. @SS - You forgot to press Arrow .. Are u a good archer 😀

@SwiftPushkar So, have you also started reading Brihadaranyaka?

S S
Not better than Rama or Arjuna @SwiftPushkar
@SwiftPushkar When we are the only people talking in the room, I don't use arrows. They are precious. :P

@Pandya - No , Although i have downloded that some months ago , but have not started to read it , just given ref. from book .. for answering purpose , I will read it after finishing 9 upanishad & Bs .. BTW i want to talk to you , right now writing answer , may be after some time :)
@SS - haha like Arjuna lost his infinite arrows (akshya Bhata) R u fearing the same ... But dont worry they wont gona end :
@Pandya - About the right sequence of reading our scriptures for better understanding of various philosophies etc.

1:05 PM
@SwiftPushkar If I'm correctly remember, you earlier declared that you've finished 9 Upanishads.

@SS - haha i was't saying that , so said "good" they were the BEST :)
@Pandya - Yes , But I am reading them again , like repeating for better understanding and as I told you earlier I yet to go through Shankar Bhasya (which i am finding little difficult to grasp as i dont know about BrihadAranyaka and chandogya) shankara quoted then most in commentory .
Mar 9 at 10:19, by SwiftPushkar
@Tezz - No , finished Isha , reading kena but i have a question about one shloka of kena 😊I think iwill finish them in 4-5 months but not less than that😊

@SwiftPushkar oh! Yes, you've not gone through Shankaracharya Bhashya. Yes, Chhandogya & Brihadaranyaka are peerless.

@Pandya - Yes , but now I can answer from those 9 , as i have grasped the whole idea , topics covered in those and actually read about the terms like virttikara , purvapaksha etc. also came to know about lots of other technical terms used in HINDU philosophy , like efficient cause , material cause etc.

@SS - the question about astakshri mantra , which i asked u sometime ago

Btw, (just asking for knowing opinions), is it true that we (Hindu) feels unsafe or uncomfortable when we are passing through Muslim area? (I'm not going into deeper, I'm just..... you may ignore if you feel irrelevant). (May be applicable to children only).

@Pandya - its quite true in all the cities , especially in mumbai (Bhendi Bazar )area :)

S S
@Pandya No. It depends on the area. There are very nice people in every religion. There are dangerous places in hindu areas also.Can't discriminate based on religion
@SwiftPushkar New answer tomorrow

@SS - oh ok to the same question , i am going to write or to the diff. one ?

2:41 PM
I'm thinking to ask same in the chat room of Islam.SE but not sure how will they take it. May be they take it negatively or get offended or as rude/criticising.

@SwiftPushkar Established user has only vote counts. It is 1k on graduated sites.

@SwiftPushkar Wait...is this the feature request you want to propose?

@Tezz Can you help me with the grammar of a Sanskrit sentence from Adi Shankaracharya's Brahma Sutra Bhashya? yathābhyudayahetutvāddharmo jijñāsyaḥ evaṃ niḥśreyasahetutvādbrahmāpi jijñāsyamityuktam
@Tezz What is the difference between jijñāsyaḥ and jijñāsyam?

@SwiftPushkar Images?

3:16 PM
@SS - 😃 Think about something else , which we provide , along with main answer and text .

S S
@SwiftPushkar Links? Sources? Title?

@SS - 😇 A good guess , its about , color of hyper-links , they sometime do not get visible due to the same bluish color of the page , and the text , we need to make them bold , so that they are clearly visible. So will request a different color and default bold format for hyper-links. Like orange color etc. @KeshavSrinivasan @Pandya @TheDestroyer

@moonstar2001 - रक्षिता स्वस्य धर्मस्य स्व जनस्य च रक्षिता |

"He is the champion of his own self-righteousness and also champions for adherent's welfare in the same righteousness, and he is a scholar in the essence of Veda-s and their ancillaries, too. He is an expert in dhanur Veda, the Art of Archery... [1-1-14]
Valmiki ramayana

@Tezz There's a story that Adi Shakti gave 3rd eye to Shiva (maybe Shankara). Do you know that story?

प्रजापति समः श्रीमान् धता रिपु निषूदनः |
रक्षिता जीवलोकस्य धर्मस्य परि रक्षिता|| १-१-१३

"He equals the Omniscient, he is an exalted one for he is the sustainer of all worlds, and he eliminates enemies completely, thus he is a guardian of all living beings and he guards probity, in its entirety...

Right. But I am thinking about the destruction of Ravana;s reserve forces - moola sainya

@KeshavSrinivasan I think जिज्ञासा means curiosity and जिज्ञास्य: means that subject matter where there is curiousity... but I'm not sure..

S S
3:41 PM
Rama is also praised as " sarvashreshta dhanushmataam" I think in Rama Raksha stotram. Not sure whether it is Valmiki Ramayana or not.

@TheDestroyer Oh I didn't know where is it...?

@TheDestroyer This book says it's folklore from Andhra Pradesh: books.google.com/…
@Tezz It's translated as "It has been said that, as practical religious duty has to be enquired into because it is the cause of an increase of happiness, so Brahman has to be enquired into because it is the cause of absolute beatitude." sacred-texts.com/hin/sbe34/sbe34134.htm So both are being translated as "has to be enquired into."
So I was wondering why two words with different endings are being translated in the same way.

@TheDestroyer Oh I just remembered I just forgot to put this thing in the answer 'Not only Lord Shiva but also Residents of Rudra Loka also have three eyes and wear moon on their head.'....

jijJnasya has no meaning afaik. whole sentence?

@moonstar2001 यथाभ्युदयहेतुत्वाद्धर्मो जिज्ञास्यः एवं निःश्रेयसहेतुत्वाद्ब्रह्मापि जिज्ञास्यमित्युक्तम्

3:49 PM
@moonstar2001 The whole sentence is "yathābhyudayahetutvāddharmo jijñāsyaḥ evaṃ niḥśreyasahetutvādbrahmāpi jijñāsyamityuktam"

@moonstar2001 - एष हन्ति गजानीकमेष हन्ति महारथान् |

@KeshavSrinivasan I think translation is right because of use of word 'yatha' in the beginning which makes it analogous comparison...

@moonstar2001 - this is the verse - you might be looking for - अनीकन् दशसाहस्रन् रथानां वातरन्हसाम् |

@KeshavSrinivasan furthermore both contain the word जिज्ञास्य I thought one was जिज्ञासा... the difference is of Visarga (:) only...

@SwiftPushkar Thank you! Would you like to go ahead and edit the answer?

3:53 PM
@Tezz But do you know what the reason for the difference in endings is?

@Tezz Shiva's entire family has 3rd eye. Devi, Kumara, Vinayaka,

@moonstar2001 - yes , it will be a whole answer which i prepared with lots of other info . is it ok to add other info too ? or should i add only these verses , because these verses should have some context .

@TheDestroyer not only family Rudra Ganas also have three eyes and wear moon on their head...

go ahead an add or if you have lots more, post a separate answer. i will be hte first to upvote :-)
btw, it is wrongly translated at 3 hours

@Tezz Yeah. :)

3:56 PM
he detroyed the moola sainya in 1 hr 11 minutes or so.

@moonstar2001 - haha not posted yet , yet to find some references though , and yes thanks for your encouragement :)👍🏻

what is the offered translaation? asyAh is probably the vibhakti form

@moonstar2001 - in 3 hours , see above text - Within a matter of three hours, with his arrows looking like tongues of flames, Rama killed an army of demons, capable of changing their form at will, including ten thousands chariots possessing the swiftness of the wind, eighteen thousand strong elephants, fourteen thousand horses with their riders and a full two lacs of demons fighting on foot.

Yes. Wrongly translated I believe

@moonstar2001 I think you are trying to locate the verse where Rama says "only me and Trayambaka possess this weapon.."

Why did this answer get many downvotes?

@moonstar2001 Oh sorry!... it's from VI.93.38

4:12 PM
@moonstar2001 It's translated as "It has been said that, as practical religious duty has to be enquired into because it is the cause of an increase of happiness, so Brahman has to be enquired into because it is the cause of absolute beatitude." sacred-texts.com/hin/sbe34/sbe34134.htm So both are translated as "has to be enquired into".

@TheDestroyer - me not voted to that , but because of the screenshot content , i think ,it says quarrels etc. may be due to that ..

@SwiftPushkar But same story is present in both Devi Bhagavatam and BrahmaVaivartara Purana.

Then, the virtuous Rama spoke also to Sugreeva, Vibhishana, Hanuma the monkey, Jambavan, Mainda the foremost of monkeys and even Dvivida, who were in close proximity to him as follows "Such wonderful power of this missile exists either with me or with the three-eyed Rudra the lord of destruction."

@moonstar2001 So So the words jijñāsyaḥ and jijñāsyam constitute two different vibhaktis, right? So what is the difference in meaning?

@TheDestroyer what happened?

4:20 PM
@moonstar2001 - you can also add the story from mahabharata , where Arjuna lost all his divine weapons , aftre shree krishna's departure from this world , so he looses his divine astra but rama did not :)
@Pandya - Hyperlink color change .. Orange may be .. for better visibility

@SwiftPushkar on Q/A posts?

Taking up my bow I found myself unequal to even string it. The might that had existed in my arms seemed to have disappeared on that occasion. O great ascetic, my weapons of diverse kinds failed to make their appearance. Soon, again, my shafts became exhausted.
This was Vyasa’s reply on Arjuna’s question

Thy weapons, having achieved success, have gone away to the place they came from.
So from Mahabharata point of view Arjuna was the greatest archer remained true only through the times until the Mahabharat war and in the presence of Shree Krishna on this earth. After Sri Krishna leaving the world . Arjuna seems to have lost all his Mighty powers. He was even defeated by ordinary thieves.

vedana is more of a dry philoso[phy

@Pandya - Yes , i know that , but what about default bold hyper-links ⛓ currently they are not

@TheDestroyer 1. Flags must not be discussed in open forums. 2. The user's personal beliefs are immaterial

5:00 PM
@Pandya - hyper-link text , not the actually hyper links themselves , like we give the link to the words - You can read Here" etc.

@TheDestroyer I discussed about this swiftpushkar
@TheDestroyer Because it is to a low quality question

@SwiftPushkar yes, blue is standard color for hyperlink and it's cool (eye candy) than orange.

@TheDestroyer Can't help it. Low quality and troll posts are not generally answered. Also the word of scripture was against general knowledge that saraswati is wife of Vishnu and Ganga is daughter of Vishnu. So people might have voted against it.
Also he was supporting OP from long. This might be the reason too

@RakeshJoshi Yeah, I can undelete but *shrugs * let it be in deleted state for now :)

what for

If I'm unable to clarify the objections raised against it then how my answer really is an answer?

@KrishnShweta other objections u can give your views later on.

5:29 PM
@RakeshJoshi I got 3 upvotes for that answer though it was partial answer. And the other answers are having 1 and 0 votes which are not partial answers.

then why u deleting it ? my question also heavy downvoting but its controversy so its expected

Ok... I'll undelete. But I'll be happy if people downvote to my answer when they are disagreeing.
