@TheDestroyer When Yadava Prakasha taught that portion of Adi Shankaracharya's commentary, hot tears starting coming from Ramanujacharya's eyes. Yadava Prakasha asked Ramanujacharya why he was crying, and he said "How can you think that the Chandogya Upanishad compare the supreme Lord's eyes to a monkey's butt? Kapyasa means lotus flower, not a monkey's butt. The verse is saying that the supreme Lord's eyes are the color of a lotus flower."
@Tezz ^^^
@SwiftPushkar which answer?

6:44 AM
@TheDestroyer Here's the relevant part of Adi Shankaracharya's Chandogya Upanishad Bhashya:

@KeshavSrinivasan I still feel some conspiracy here. Lord Vishnu might have used his maya and deluded Adi Shankara, so that Ramanuja can propound Visista Advaita. haha..

@TheDestroyer Yes, I have often had a very similar thought. I think Adi Shankaracharya, being an incarnation of Shiva, may have intentionally written that in order to get Ramanujacharya to become a Sri Vaishnava.
@TheDestroyer If Adi Shankaracharya had not written that, I and all other Brahmins would still be Advaitins today :-)

@KeshavSrinivasan No doubt. It's Sri Hari Maya that deluded Shankara.

@TheDestroyer Well, either Hari Maya or Shiva Lila.

@KeshavSrinivasan Yeah.

6:52 AM
@TheDestroyer By the way, if you're curious here is the Sri Vaishnava interpetation of that part of the verse:

3
A: Jyotisha - Relation between Pancha Mahabhuta and Rashi

TezzAs the material world is made up of five great elements/PanchaMahabhuta, everything is associated it with. Similarly in Jyotish the 12 constellation are also related with it. It shows which constellation/Rashi is characterized by which Tatwa. According to classification by Brihat Parashar Horash...

@Tezz @TheDestroyer -โฌ†

@TheDestroyer That is from Ranga Ramanuja's commentary on the Chandogya Upanishad. Ranga Ramanuja shouldn't be confused with Ramanujacharya. Ranga Ramanuja is the Sri Vaishnava commentator on the Upanishads. Ramanujacharya wrote commentaries on the Bhagavad Gita and Brahma Sutras, but he left the task of writing Upanishad commentaries to future generations.
@TheDestroyer The Sri Vaishnava interpretation of the verse is in agreement with the interpretation of Tanka's Vakya, a pre-Shankara commentary on the Chandogya Upanishad which is now lost. I discuss Tanka's Vakya in my question here:
3
Q: What Chandogya Upanishad verse is the sevenfold discipline of Bhakti Yoga related to?

Keshav SrinivasanAs I discuss in this question, by far the most popular school of Hindu philosophy is the Vedanta school, which bases its tenets on the doctrines laid out in the Brahma Sutras, a work by the sage Vyasa that summarizes and systematizes the philosophical teachings of the Upanishads. You can read the...

@sakthi Question about ravana and brahmastra, good one.
Did you get that clarified?

@SreeCharan I have a question about Amirta
@SreeCharan No

9:08 AM
@sakthi well, you need to wait until someone will answer to your question. If anyone knows about that they WILL definitely answer.

@KrishnShweta You have answered to my question of immortality right
@SreeCharan if karnas kundalas made of amirta then his kavasha will also be made of amrita and they will also have healing ability is it correct or not

@sakthi I will try to clarify what I think. I didn't answer because it seems opinion based.
@sakthi Yes.

Yeah... I have just put a comment. But delete bcz you have edited

@KrishnShweta I have another qusetion that ego,pride,vanity,arrogance are what ? like tamas,rajas,satva are gunas what are these named
@KrishnShweta ok
@SreeCharan can i message anyone or the one who messages me

@sakthi Ayurveda is vast Science. You should know a lot of things to understand it. I suggest you to read Robert Svoboda books

9:15 AM
@SreeCharan then why the kavasha are provided kundalas are enough as they can heal him and rejoins his body parts

What do you mean by that? Do you want Sanskrit words? @sakthi

@sakthi lessons and lectures on Ayurveda by Robert Soboda is good book to start.

@sakthi this is public chat room. Anyone can see whatever is discussed here

@sakthi Rama was an expert archer and learnt special astras. I think divyastras create destruction when they are misdirected or countered with other equal powerful astra. You may see that during the war between Lakshmana and Indrajeet in Ramayana. They both counter each other's weapons and it is said there was fire all over that place. But when it comes to Rama, he aims well and does not miss any target. So there was no fire or chaos in the sky or surroundings.

@sakthi These Guna arise due to ignorance.

9:18 AM
@KrishnShweta I didnt mean that I mean that they all must be under a main heading or scriptue so i am asking what is that?
@TheDestroyer do you have Robert Svoboda books link

@sakthi They are copyrighted books. I can't share them in a public chat here.

@SreeCharan if that is ok then karna would have slayed gattotkaja using bhramasthra without using sakthi astraa
@TheDestroyer is there a private chat here friend

@sakthi BTW, where are you from? You have too many questions.

@KrishnShweta are asking my native place

@sakthi haha. All chat rooms are public. I have only one book with me right now. I downloaded some books but need to see them in lappy. They are unsorted.

9:22 AM
@TheDestroyer thank you

@sakthi But i don't think this book will answer your cancer question. You may need more knowledge about Ayurveda.

You can tell us the state where you live.@sakthi

@TheDestroyer thank you
@KrishnShweta sorry

@sakthi if you want this book, i can mail you. My email id is in my profile page.

@TheDestroyer how can i download with your mail id i am not familiar in these

9:26 AM
@sakthi i will send you an email with book attached. you can download it to your computer by opening your mail.
@sakthi First you should send email to my mail, leaving some random message.

@TheDestroyer ok
@KrishnShweta i cant tell my state

@sakthi This book is just for introduction and good start. But, i'm not sure whether Ayurveda is on topic here.

@SreeCharan besides bhsima's explanation about women's character is there any other scriptures explaining about women
@TheDestroyer ok

@sakthi No problem

@KrishnShweta How are you?
@SreeCharan Hi Bro!

9:30 AM
@sakthi As I have said in the comment, He also used the brahmastra against jayanta who came to earth in form of a crow. There was no counter against the brahmastra and the astra was well directed. The speed of Rama are unmatchable too. No archer cannot match his speed. It is probable that Ravana didn't match Rama's speed. Killing Khara,dushana and their entire army of 14000 in 90 minutes (if i'm not wrong) is an example of Rama's speed. Only Brahmanda astra> brahmastra .
@TheDestroyer Hi Bro!

@TheDestroyer Good and you?

@KrishnShweta fine.

@SreeCharan thank you

@sakthi I guess u are from Kerala or Telugu states.

@SreeCharan why are you thinking about my native

@sakthi No need to feel anything. I'm from hyd (don't think I'm asking you again it's all up to you)

@sakthi If you don't want to add your state, it's fine. No offense.
@sakthi Because all the people you are talking to currently are from south India. So a bit intersted. That's it.

1
Q: Is this a Hindu deity?

MaximinIs this a Hindu Goddess? If yes which one and what do they represent?

Sep 28 at 14:38, by Tezz
@TheDestroyer I think she is Buddhist deity...

10:33 AM
@TheDestroyer ""How can you think that the Chandogya Upanishad compare the supreme Lord's eyes to a monkey's butt?" ... Haha.. in Advaita we can compare.. they are same..๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€
@SreeCharan I think same as you thought when you saw that question...๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€

@KrishnShweta I'm sorry if U feel offended when I asked you where do you live. Didn't realise that you are a female. Sorry.
@Tezz Confused.

@SreeCharan What do you think of that question..?

Is it on topic now?

@Tezz yeah. It doesn't matter in Advaita. But "to doesn't matter", disciple must understand properly Advaita..

@TheDestroyer yes..

10:37 AM
I think Off-topic because it doesn't seem like a hindu deity. But stopped before voting as off-topic due to "Recent issues".

@SreeCharan I think it's not off topic.. it's similar like another question "Who are those in this Shiva Picture?"...

@SreeCharan no need of sorry at all. It's totally fine. And btw, many people that I'm male unless they see my call-sign clearly :D

@Tezz That's why I didn't vote.

@KrishnShweta what's call sign?..

@KrishnShweta I thought that early. But when I thought at Sweta, I thought it may be female.

10:45 AM

@Tezz you know about me very well. Please..... ^.^
@TheDestroyer I have one question about modi
He introduced Jio Sim card with Reliance. So did he payed anything to them?

@KrishnShweta Modi has no role in Jio

Oh so he just promoted it?

@Tezz do you know anything about Vyagrapragada?
@KrishnShweta He didn't even promote. They used his Digital India slogans and posted photo of Modi in Newspapers ads. Even PayTM did the same.

11:10 AM
@TheDestroyer Vyaghra means tiger ... I'm not sure what exactly means by Vyagrapragada..

@TheDestroyer OK I'll go through it.

@KrishnShweta Haha..

@Tezz Who walks like tiger.. or having tiger feet. I read his story somewhere in Shiva or Skanda Purana but unable to find it now.
5
Q: What is the source of the legend of Vyฤghrapฤda?

sv.Which Hindu scripture narrates the story of Vyฤghrapฤda (the name literally means tiger-footed)? From Wikipedia: Vyaghrapada was a rishi and he was entrusted with the task of picking up fresh flowers, untouched even by the honeybees, for offering to Shiva in his aspect as Nataraja in the tem...

@TheDestroyer Oh it's Vyagrapada.. pada means foot.. I do not have idea who he is...

ohh. Sorry..

11:57 AM
@TheDestroyer @Tezz - i think i read somewhere that , Vyaghrapada was Maharshi & devotee of Lord Shiva

12:13 PM
@Tezz @TheDestroyer - And he asked for the boon to obtain feet like tiger , so can he can run fast through rough jungle , rough terrains to offer flowers to various shiva temples ,which were some distance apart , but now lost that link , still searching.
@SreeCharan - Yes , me and @Tezz some time ago discussed abt. that question , either it's a female deity perhaps depicted in (south asian style) or a dancing apsara or yakshini like urvashi .Might be a popular fig.outside India .

12:29 PM
@SwiftPushkar Oh ok... Shiva Purana might contain it...
@sakthi hi.. where do you live..?

@tezz i am in tamilnadu
@tezz where are you from
@tezz I am very new to vedas and other knowledges. I want to know the best place to start

12:45 PM
@sakthi oh .. I'm from Nepal..
@sakthi it depends on in what philosophy are you inclined to.. Advaita or Dvaita or Vidhistadvaita...
@sakthi for Vedic knowledge the best place to start can be from the Upanishads...

@tezz what are the upanishads contain

@SwiftPushkar Yeah..

@tezz what are the difference between advaita or dvaita or vidhistadvaita
@TheDestroyer where are you from

@sakthi Advaita holds that.. Brahman only exists.. this world characterized by name and form is illusion...

@TheDestroyer many of vaishnavas say that lord krishna is the only paramadhma and other gods are demi-gods is it true?

1:00 PM
You can see my answer here for more about that:

A: What is the Position of Maya(illusion) as per Advaita doctrine? (Or According to Advaita is Maya superior to Supreme brahman?)

TezzMaya can never be supreme as it operates only in Vyavaharik level. According to Advaita there are three levels of reality: 1) Paramarthika Satyam 2) Vyavaharik Satyam 3) Pratibhasik Satyam Paramarthika Satyam: This is the absolute reality. In this level neither Ishwara nor Maya exists...

A: Is Shiva or Rudra born and is he still alive? Was he killed or merged with supreme brahman at any point of time?

TezzRudra is both Born and Unborn. As I discuss in my answer here,  Rudra means who cries, who makes other cry and who removes the cry of Samsara. There may be confusion regarding born and unborn nature of Rudra with the Smriti. However Vedas themselves attest both Born and Unborn Rudra: Unborn Rud...

@sakthi No, lord Shiva isn't demigod.. (he is also at the same time.. (all forms are his forms):.. my answer here discusses about it:
Also see my answer here for the Vedic origin of Lord Shiva:

@sakthi I'm from Andhra

10
A: What is the Vedic Origin of Lord Shiva?

TezzI think you are going through some western speculations. But whether there was Shaivism in a certain place doesn't matter at all. It's because Vedas are revealed scriptures and it's mantras are heard during deep meditation. And Lord Shiva is revealed itself to Vedas through Vedic seers during th...

@sakthi and Vishistadvaita holds that Jeeva also eternally exists with Brahman but their relation is like Sun and Sun light... or body soul relation...

@sakthi They are Gaudiya Viashnavas.. obviously not true. They just pick some selective verses and say Krishna is supreme. We should believe Vedas as ultimate truth. @Tezz answers are informative read them.
@sakthi read this answer

A: How were the Trimurthi born?

TezzBasically by asking "How were Trimurthis born?" This question is asking "Who is the originator of whom?" Or "Who is the Ishwara?" Several answers are given here, but most of them are only from their perspective. Here I present all perspectives of all Trimurty. Brahma: Yajurveda Shatapatha Brahm...

@sakthi and Dvaita holds that Jeeva also eternally exists and their relation is like of Water and oil... Oil floats with support of water but they are completely different...

@sakthi I follow Advaita with Ista Deva as Parvati Parameswara.. I feel Advaita to be proper one which in crude form says all Suguna forms (Shiva, Vishnu and Krishna) are one and same.

1:10 PM
@sakthi Upanishads are Vedanta and they are conclusion of Vedas.. they are generally found towards end of Vedas...

@sakthi if you want to start, i suggest you to start with Ramayana and Mahabhartha and then BhagavadGita..

@sakthi - Hi , me (pushkar joshi) from Maharashtra , Pune Welcome To Chat V&P ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ˜Š
@TheDestroyer @Tezz- found this abt Vyaghrapada - sivalayaottam.blogspot.in/p/history.html

@sakthi if you know hindi you might have heard "Brahma Vishnu SadaShiva Jaanata Aviveka.. Pranavakasharemein Sobhit Ye Tino Eekaa" ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€ This summarizes all...

@SwiftPushkar Yeah. But i want to know where Vyagrapada is mentioned in scriptures. I actually forgot where i read.

@TheDestroyer - Yes , may be in MB as @KeshavSrinivasan mentioned

1:17 PM
@SwiftPushkar hmm.. nice story...๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€

@SwiftPushkar I think i read in Shiva or Skanda Purana.

@Tezz - Yes , bhima was assigned by Shree Krishna to bring milk from half lion & half human rushi , and told him the trick how to do that๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€
@TheDestroyer - ok will check both out ๐Ÿ˜Š
Bhima & Vyagrapadha realized that it was Lord Siva. Both great people understood that Lord Siva and Lord Vishnu are same and one.

@Tezz You have some familiarity with Buddhism, so do you know anything about Buddhist legends concerning Sri Lanka? They're relevant to my question here:
3
Q: When did Vibhishana stop being king of Lanka?

Keshav SrinivasanIn this chapter of the Yuddha Kanda of the Ramayana, after Ravana's death his brother Vibhishana is coronation as the king of Lanka: Hearing the words of the great soled Rama, Lakshmana replied, 'so it be' and rejoicingly procured a golden pot. That mighty Lakshmana, then placing that pot in ...

@KeshavSrinivasan By the way, can you provide answer on my old question? (recently revised):
4
Q: What are the Agama scripture? Are they related to Shruti/Vedas?

PandyaI know that Hindu scriptures classified as Shruti and Smriti but don't know much about Aagama. I would like to know about Agama Scripture: What are the Agama Scriptures? Are they related to Vedas? How are they originated? And are they classified as Shruti or Smriti?

@Pandya - oh ok thanks :) i Mostly use my Tab (Android) ๐Ÿ‘

ok

@Pandya Let me see if I can provide an answer. I have lots of info on Pancharatra Agamas and Vaikhanasa Agamas (the two main kinds of Vaishnava Agamas), but as much info on Shaiva and Shakta Agamas.

5:01 PM
@Pandya - Yes , that's what i also want to know , ie. Pancharatra agama & Shaiva Agama , where we can find these Agama ( Tantra เคคเค‚เคคเฅเคฐ) part ?
@KeshavSrinivasan - a coincidence here

@SwiftPushkar You can read lots of Pancharatra Agamas here: archive.org/details/pancaratra-agamas

@KeshavSrinivasan ok. no-problem. You can prepare information/knowledge about it and then can post when you are free to.

@KeshavSrinivasan - Shreemad Bhagvatam also mentions "pancharatra" word , but which part is "pancharatra" ? or its entirely not in Bhagvatam

@KeshavSrinivasan @SwiftPushkar I think Hindupedia have useful information about it.

@Pandya - Yes ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

5:06 PM
@Pandya By the way, this isn't an exact correspondence, but to a first approximation, Shakta Agamas advocate Advaita, Shaiva Agamas advocate Dvaita, and Pancharatra Agamas advocate Visistadvaita. What I mean by that is not that the Shaiva Agamas advocate Madhvacharya's Dvaita Vedanta philosophy or that the Shakta Agamas advocate Adi Shankaracharya's Advaita Vedanta philosophy. In fact most philosophical Shaivites and Shaktas reject the Vedanta school.
@Pandya Rather, what I mean is that they agree with those Vedantic philosophies on the specific issue of the relation between Brahman and the world. Shaktas believe the world is an illusion, just as Advaita says. Shaivites believe that Brahman is the efficient cause of the world but not the material cause, just as Dvaita says. And Vaishnavas believe that Brahman is both the efficient cause and the material cause of the Universe, just as Visistadvaita says.

@KeshavSrinivasan Though I don't want to know which Agamas advocates which Vedanta philosophy at present for my question. I just want to know some primary questions which are asked in that question.

@SwiftPushkar Hindu scripture comes in two forms, Shruti and Smriti. And Shruti comes in two forms, Nigamas and Agamas. Nigamas are the Vedas, which focus mainly on Yagnas, whereas Agamas focus on more devotional forms of worship, like idol worship for instance.

@KeshavSrinivasan - yes i am aware of this :)๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘

@SwiftPushkar Pancharatra Agamas are not part of the Bhagavatam. Agamas are Shruti. The Srimad Bhagavatam is a Purana, so it's Smriti.

@KeshavSrinivasan The point/information/knowledge that Shruti comes in two forms Nigama and Agamas is I think not known by most of users/people?

@Pandya Yeah, most people don't have much familiarity with Agamas.

@KeshavSrinivasan - ok , I thought , that might be described in bhagvatam as well , so asked

@KeshavSrinivasan Yes, that's why I've asked question.
Though I wanted to start a small bounty on that Q. but want to get (or missing) protection ability and I'm close to it, so, didn't started

@SwiftPushkar Yeah, the Bhagavatam does mention the Pancharatra Agamas in various places.

On these three occasions he stayed at sixteen specific locations and meditated by himself or with his disciple monks. For that r...

@KeshavSrinivasan I'm not sure whether the Buddhist texts talk of Vibhisana or not...

@Tezz According to the Mahavamsa, Buddha didn't just teach in Sri Lanka, he also drove away the Yakshas (which may be a metonymy for Rakshasas) from Sri Lanka and sent them to a place called Giridipa.
@Tezz See this chapter of the Mahavamsa: lakdiva.org/mahavamsa/chap001.html
