@TheDestroyer When Yadava Prakasha taught that portion of Adi Shankaracharya's commentary, hot tears starting coming from Ramanujacharya's eyes. Yadava Prakasha asked Ramanujacharya why he was crying, and he said "How can you think that the Chandogya Upanishad compare the supreme Lord's eyes to a monkey's butt? Kapyasa means lotus flower, not a monkey's butt. The verse is saying that the supreme Lord's eyes are the color of a lotus flower."
@KeshavSrinivasan I still feel some conspiracy here. Lord Vishnu might have used his maya and deluded Adi Shankara, so that Ramanuja can propound Visista Advaita. haha..
@TheDestroyer Yes, I have often had a very similar thought. I think Adi Shankaracharya, being an incarnation of Shiva, may have intentionally written that in order to get Ramanujacharya to become a Sri Vaishnava.
@TheDestroyer If Adi Shankaracharya had not written that, I and all other Brahmins would still be Advaitins today :-)
As the material world is made up of five great elements/PanchaMahabhuta, everything is associated it with. Similarly in Jyotish the 12 constellation are also related with it. It shows which constellation/Rashi is characterized by which Tatwa.

@TheDestroyer That is from Ranga Ramanuja's commentary on the Chandogya Upanishad. Ranga Ramanuja shouldn't be confused with Ramanujacharya. Ranga Ramanuja is the Sri Vaishnava commentator on the Upanishads. Ramanujacharya wrote commentaries on the Bhagavad Gita and Brahma Sutras, but he left the task of writing Upanishad commentaries to future generations.
@TheDestroyer The Sri Vaishnava interpretation of the verse is in agreement with the interpretation of Tanka's Vakya, a pre-Shankara commentary on the Chandogya Upanishad which is now lost. I discuss Tanka's Vakya in my question here:
As I discuss in this question, by far the most popular school of Hindu philosophy is the Vedanta school, which bases its tenets on the doctrines laid out in the Brahma Sutras, a work by the sage Vyasa that summarizes and systematizes the philosophical teachings of the Upanishads. You can read the...
@KrishnShweta You have answered to my question of immortality right
@SreeCharan if karnas kundalas made of amirta then his kavasha will also be made of amrita and they will also have healing ability is it correct or not
@sakthi Rama was an expert archer and learnt special astras. I think divyastras create destruction when they are misdirected or countered with other equal powerful astra. You may see that during the war between Lakshmana and Indrajeet in Ramayana. They both counter each other's weapons and it is said there was fire all over that place. But when it comes to Rama, he aims well and does not miss any target. So there was no fire or chaos in the sky or surroundings.
@sakthi haha. All chat rooms are public. I have only one book with me right now. I downloaded some books but need to see them in lappy. They are unsorted.
@sakthi As I have said in the comment, He also used the brahmastra against jayanta who came to earth in form of a crow. There was no counter against the brahmastra and the astra was well directed. The speed of Rama are unmatchable too. No archer cannot match his speed. It is probable that Ravana didn't match Rama's speed. Killing Khara, dushana and their entire army of 14000 in 90 minutes (if i'm not wrong) is an example of Rama's speed. Only Brahmanda astra> brahmastra .

Which Hindu scripture narrates the story of Vyฤghrapฤda (the name literally means tiger-footed)?

@Tezz @TheDestroyer - And he asked for the boon to obtain feet like tiger , so can he can run fast through rough jungle , rough terrains to offer flowers to various shiva temples ,which were some distance apart , but now lost that link , still searching.
@SreeCharan - Yes , me and @Tezz some time ago discussed abt. that question , either it's a female deity perhaps depicted in (south asian style) or a dancing apsara or yakshini like urvashi .Might be a popular fig.outside India .
Maya can never be supreme as it operates only in Vyavaharik level. According to Advaita there are three levels of reality:
1) Paramarthika Satyam
2) Vyavaharik Satyam
3) Pratibhasik Satyam
Paramarthika Satyam:
This is the absolute reality. In this level neither Ishwara nor Maya exists...
Rudra is both Born and Unborn. As I discuss in my answer here,
Rudra means who cries, who makes other cry and who removes the cry of Samsara.
There may be confusion regarding born and unborn nature of Rudra with the Smriti. However Vedas themselves attest both Born and Unborn Rudra:
Unborn Rud...
@sakthi No, lord Shiva isn't demigod.. (he is also at the same time.. (all forms are his forms):.. my answer here discusses about it:
Also see my answer here for the Vedic origin of Lord Shiva:
I think you are going through some western speculations. But whether there was Shaivism in a certain place doesn't matter at all. It's because Vedas are revealed scriptures and it's mantras are heard during deep meditation.
And Lord Shiva is revealed itself to Vedas through Vedic seers during th...

@sakthi They are Gaudiya Viashnavas.. obviously not true. They just pick some selective verses and say Krishna is supreme. We should believe Vedas as ultimate truth. @Tezz answers are informative read them.
Basically by asking "How were Trimurthis born?" This question is asking "Who is the originator of whom?" Or "Who is the Ishwara?" Several answers are given here, but most of them are only from their perspective. Here I present all perspectives of all Trimurty.

@Tezz You have some familiarity with Buddhism, so do you know anything about Buddhist legends concerning Sri Lanka? They're relevant to my question here:
In this chapter of the Yuddha Kanda of the Ramayana, after Ravana's death his brother Vibhishana is coronation as the king of Lanka:
Hearing the words of the great soled Rama, Lakshmana replied, 'so it be' and rejoicingly procured a golden pot. That mighty Lakshmana, then placing that pot in ...
I know that Hindu scriptures classified as Shruti and Smriti but don't know much about Aagama.
I would like to know about Agama Scripture:
What are the Agama Scriptures?
Are they related to Vedas?
How are they originated?
And are they classified as Shruti or Smriti?
@Pandya Let me see if I can provide an answer. I have lots of info on Pancharatra Agamas and Vaikhanasa Agamas (the two main kinds of Vaishnava Agamas), but as much info on Shaiva and Shakta Agamas.
@Pandya - Yes , that's what i also want to know , ie. Pancharatra agama & Shaiva Agama , where we can find these Agama ( Tantra เคคเคเคคเฅเคฐ) part ?
@Pandya By the way, this isn't an exact correspondence, but to a first approximation, Shakta Agamas advocate Advaita, Shaiva Agamas advocate Dvaita, and Pancharatra Agamas advocate Visistadvaita. What I mean by that is not that the Shaiva Agamas advocate Madhvacharya's Dvaita Vedanta philosophy or that the Shakta Agamas advocate Adi Shankaracharya's Advaita Vedanta philosophy. In fact most philosophical Shaivites and Shaktas reject the Vedanta school.
@Pandya Rather, what I mean is that they agree with those Vedantic philosophies on the specific issue of the relation between Brahman and the world. Shaktas believe the world is an illusion, just as Advaita says. Shaivites believe that Brahman is the efficient cause of the world but not the material cause, just as Dvaita says. And Vaishnavas believe that Brahman is both the efficient cause and the material cause of the Universe, just as Visistadvaita says.
@KeshavSrinivasan Though I don't want to know which Agamas advocates which Vedanta philosophy at present for my question. I just want to know some primary questions which are asked in that question.
@SwiftPushkar Hindu scripture comes in two forms, Shruti and Smriti. And Shruti comes in two forms, Nigamas and Agamas. Nigamas are the Vedas, which focus mainly on Yagnas, whereas Agamas focus on more devotional forms of worship, like idol worship for instance.
@KeshavSrinivasan I think Buddhist Mahvamsha records Buddha going to Sri Lanka 3 times using his pshycic powers by flying.. it was just to teach the Dhamma.. I have read it in one answer given in Buddhism SE... I'm searching...
The Buddha visited Sri Lanka on three different occasions. His first
visit was to Mahiyangana; the second to Nagadipa, and the third was to

monks. For that r...
@KeshavSrinivasan I'm not sure whether the Buddhist texts talk of Vibhisana or not...
@Tezz According to the Mahavamsa, Buddha didn't just teach in Sri Lanka, he also drove away the Yakshas (which may be a metonymy for Rakshasas) from Sri Lanka and sent them to a place called Giridipa.
