Q: Dealing with oppressive members

SayyidMy issue is particularly with goldPseudo, who's unfair and bullying. Editing or deleting posts of which, in his mind, are irrelevant even though they're completely part of the topic. Once he's questioned, he makes the claim that I'm making rude and offensive comments, even though they're not. ...

@Islam.SE And if anyone's curious, reactions like that are a very significant reason as to why I typically prefer silent moderation. Commenting just gives posters a visible target if they feel like being belligerent.

A: Why I am stepping down

Shog9Last spring, I spent several weeks analyzing closed questions on all Stack Exchange sites, in preparation for the changes that would enable per-site off-topic reasons. All too often, I would find questions closed without any discussion or explanation as to why they were closed... But here, that ...

this one case (or more) shouldn't be the reason to change your style of moderation. What has to change is belligerent's attitude!

@BleedingFingers If it was just one case, I'd agree with you. But it's hardly an isolated incident.
And it's hardly a "change" to my style of moderation; I'm naturally more of the silent type, I literally have to force myself to be more open. It's not easy for me, and when it mostly just involves me leaving comments that only duplicate what is easily found if anyone bothered to check meta, or read the help centre, and which are comments that quite literally any other user could leave just as easily...

@AlUmmat assalaamualaikum. looks like you had a nice tym with tom
@Sword Wa Alaikum salam, no, it was not that good. I hope I did not ruin what you were trying to do.
nope you dint.. i wanted to explain it to him through science..
traversing large distances through the universe and having a kind of receiver with a probably infinite wavelength detection capability. I mean , a range of wavelengths from 1nm to 1 km dont even cover a glassful of water in an ocean..

science is overrated. too many people fall into the trap of believing that science can do (and prove) everything.
science is so very much a moving target. new stuff gets discovered and old stuff gets discarded all the time.
yes true
but he isn't ready to accept anything except for wht science says @goldPseudo
so its better to help him understand the limitations of science
true.
but it's like teaching colours to a blind man.
and Islam is about faith. Everything that happens on earth is a miracle.. but only people who pay heed to it understand.. remaining dispose it off as a usual occurrence
Allah would grant him vision if he willed. we cant stop efforts from our side :)
a lot of those "Qur'an is full of scientific miracles!" claims are full of double-edged swords; since science itself is at least as much theory as fact, if the current working theory of science changes, the "scientific miracles" suddenly become "science fiction".
and get latched on by the anti-Muslim polemics.
yeah..
