Look familiar? Making a Time Machine clone with support for Rsync. You'll be able to backup with rsync but still be fully compatible with Time Machine restoration tools.
I predict within 2-3 years my tool will become mostly obsolete when Apple introduces iCloud backups for Macs and improves network based Time Machine performance.
P.S. for anyone wondering, that is not a native app, it's electron with css to look like macos.
