@nohillside Watched the WWDC video on it. I get the general cryptography behind it. The problem is, while the 3rd party servers maybe operated by the third parties, Apple still controls them. They almost definitely posses the ability to access the key. So we are back to blindly trusting Apple to be good.

Hopefully I didn’t over answer here, but I barely have a handle on all the ins and outs of M1 recovery - it’s quite complicated with tons of changes…
