10:00 PM
@Mahnax what's that for?

@ruddfawcett Why? (suspicious)
:-)

@ruddfawcett Chemistry SE.

@DanielLawson Oh, yeah, about that........

I had a sweet idea for your avatar (@daviesgeek).

@ruddfawcett No problemmo....just a sec

10:00 PM
@Mahnax Uggh. Chemistry... Good thing I did that last year!

@Mahnax I can't click on either of those buttons. They just take me to the picture. Ugh!
2

Well, the site could have been useful I guess...

(Note: SARCASM. HEAVY, SARCASM.)

@JasonSalaz Star for trying to click the buttons!

10:01 PM
@JasonSalaz Darn, eh?
@ruddfawcett gasp
I'm going to be starting Chemistry next year.
I'm quite excited.

I did have the urge to click them at first, then I realized what it is.
and didn't actually click them

@Mahnax Me too. I'm not sure if I'm excited or not...

@daviesgeek I'm definitely excited.

I think i'll come up wiht an article about the hidden features of Preview.

I love all the sciences. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, in that order.

10:02 PM
There are a ton.

@ruddfawcett I love Preview.

Me too!

It seems so simple but is capable of a good number of things.

@ruddfawcett Agreed. Do you listen to Macbreak Weekly?

I can't say I do... I'm not really supposed to be on my computer unless it's Friday or Saturday, and I'm not one for podcasts.
I'll check it out though.

10:04 PM
@Mahnax Yah. Physical Science was easy for me, but Biology has been hard...I've had to really study it well...

Oh, are you a youngun too, Rudd?
@daviesgeek I've found Biology to be a breeze thus far.

Oooh, he's younger than both of us @Mahnax

@daviesgeek I see.

@Mahnax For me, I think it's the definitions.

Why how old are you guys?

10:05 PM
@daviesgeek Hm, I just hated remembering the whole Kreb's cycle thing.
@ruddfawcett Fifteen.

@ruddfawcett Sixteen

There were too many sixes.

@Mahnax cool, do you like python? :)

@Mahnax I don't think I've learned that yet...I'm a bit behind in Biology...

@ruddfawcett Yeah, but I haven't much time for it. By the way, if you want to directly respond to a message, hover over it and click the little grey arrow on the right.
@daviesgeek Hm? What are you learning in Bio then?

10:06 PM
@ruddfawcett You mean the snake-that-strangles-you type of python, or the language?
2

@daviesgeek The language :P It's his avatar.

46
Q: Is Python a snake or a programming language? If the latter, why is it choking my dog?

RobustoWe've been getting a rash of questions asking, essentially, what a programmer should name methods or properties. One such was a request for a word that meant both "add" and "remove" because the programmer wanted to have a method that could add or remove an element. Does this really fall under E...

@Mahnax Just finished learning about the phylum Chordata and the basics of plants...

@daviesgeek Oh, in Science 10?

@ruddfawcett I know what you're talking about ;-)

10:07 PM
@Mahnax That's hilarious/sad/stupid
Who asks that?

@Mahnax Science 10? What's that?

By the way, best Meta post ever.

@Mahnax I can see :P

@ruddfawcett The title is a joke.

ya i got that.

10:08 PM
@daviesgeek Grade 10 science. Or do you even use the 10, 20, 30 system?
The guy who asked the question is an established EL&Uer and he knows his programming.
Actually, he's the top EL&Uer and may stay that way forever.

@daviesgeek I don't say LOL often, but you really made me laugh there. And I'm proctoring an exam, so I shouldn't.

@Mahnax I dunno. I'm homeschooled, so I don't think about such frivolous things. :-) However, it would be grade 10 science, unless sophomore year isn't grade 10
@DanielLawson :-)

@DanielLawson Which exam? :)

@daviesgeek Is it a combination course that introduces you to Bio, Chem, and Physics?
Or do you have separate classes for each of those?

@Mahnax No. It is Biology only.

10:10 PM
I will draw a quick diagram of our science system.

Ok. I wish I could say I could too, but I can't, 'cuz I don't know the system...:-)
@DanielLawson About those edits...I was going through new tags and editing questions tagged with the wrong things.

There.

@Mahnax Cool.

@daviesgeek Yep.
Of course, for IB students, there is a Bio 35 after 30, and Physics 25 before Physics 20 and after Science 10.
(At my school.)

I see
Well, I must be off. I need to continue studying/writing my paper for my final.

10:14 PM
Yep. Fairly nonsensical business, this 10->25->20 stuff.
Good day to you, then.

@ruddfawcett Econ 2

@Mahnax Yah. Why not just 1->2->3 etc.?

@DanielLawson Oh :O

I'll just leave this here...
user image
2

@daviesgeek The usual way is 10->20->30.

10:15 PM
@Mahnax Ah.
(leaving now)

@jtbandes Why would someone want to study Computer Science?

@DanielLawson Someone has to herd the lolcats and wrangle the interwebz.

</deliberately-provocative>

</i-figured and-thats-why="the frivolous response">
I doubt attributes are valid in closing tags, but this conversation is at a level above such things.

10:19 PM
Thought you were very surprised for a moment there :P

no, just can't type
also, O is just below )
on my keyboard

More importantly, 0 is )
(which I think is what you typed)

yep, you're right

0 it was.

10:20 PM
all typos must be dissected thoroughly.
It's the law.

/me just read that sentence for ironic typos about 5 times

Well, I didn't capitalize the A.

I figured it was consistent with the non-capitalization of your previous 4 lines so I ignored it.
Are we really having this conversation?
3

It appears we are.
And now that Daviesgeek is gone, the time has come to approve his edits.

@DanielLawson I saw that!!!!

10:23 PM
ahaha.

@daviesgeek You're supposed to be studying.
Notice I didn't even @ him, and he read the comment instantly.

Shouldn't have notified him last time, should it? yeah..

He's using the ninja lurker trick, I see.

@DanielLawson :-P

Yep
You have learned well.

10:25 PM
Is that the "log out" trick? or the "private browsing mode" trick? or the "iDevice" trick?

I hadn't thought of the iDevice trick. I'm partial to logging out.

@DanielLawson i learned from you
@jtbandes What's the "iDevice" trick?

@daviesgeek being on chat on your iDevice, but not logged in... and opening a tab (logged in) on your computer to talk.

@daviesgeek You also seem to have learned the "not getting the work done that you're supposed to be doing" trick from me... I've seriously got to get back to grading here. Which I'm obviously avoiding, given the stupid grammar discussions I'm engaging in rather than grading essays.

@jtbandes That's not what I'm doing
@DanielLawson :-)
I am really leaving now

10:32 PM
That's what they all say.

You can still see if the person is on by doing @ and then seeing what comes up...
Right?

@ruddfawcett I don't think that's true
That's only affected by recent posts, not current status.

Ah...
I gotta go eat :P
I'll be back.

That's what they all say.

"That's what they all say" is, apparently, what they all say.

10:37 PM
@ruddfawcett Hmm…dunno if I like it or not...

@daviesgeek ahem

@ruddfawcett I'm gonna switch it back. Not enough color. Try making the letters a different font so they fill up the space more. Thanks for posting that and taking time!!!

10:52 PM
Sure.
