// Just to give a few rules, we basically discuss within the chat, sometimes you would want to make a comment
// which shouldn't appear within the published interview. For that we will use Java-like comments
// // comments until the end of line and /* */ comment a block
// We discuss today, and tomorrow, I'll put it together in a blog post, once it is done, I'll give you the link so that you can review it
// It's better to add a picture... so if you have anything you'd like to have, tell me :) otherwise, I'll try to come up with something
// I try to wait for a reasonable time in between two questions, but you can add more details to a previous question anytime :)
// Normally, I just take whatever you write and add it to the blog verbatim. Well maybe some typo etc. correction...
// That should be about it
// Any question?
20:30
// Just to mention that I try to prepare some questions before hand, but I might react to what you were mentioning :)
21:10
//whoosh!
//ooh, I can provide a picture?
// yes that would be helpful :)
// I have some great splash pages from a Skyrim fan comic I made about four years ago
// also, I like these comments. I have a joke about comments
// I'm all hears :)
// nah, I could never figure out the wording for it
21:14
// let's do this? Leeroooooooyyy....
// I feel I'm missing something... but I'm not sure... ^^"
// Sure... I'll add another point, I'll number the questions. And if you answer to a previous question, you simply have to include the number :)
0. Hi DaaaahWoosh, thanks for agreeing to be interviewed for the blog.
Hello! Thanks for having me, I love being interviewed
not that I have been very often
// ooh, add some punctuation between those two
1. Before we get to talk more about worldbuilding, we like to know more about you. Can you tell us where you are and what do you do for a living?
// will do :)
Sure. I'm currently living and working in Cincinnati as a developer. I help make/configure/maintain software for different companies' loyalty programs.
2. Pardon my ignorance, but what are "loyalty programs"?
21:21
Ah, yes, people do often give me blank stares for that one, I guess it's a jargon. Loyalty programs are those things that businesses offer so that you can get discounts or rewards for doing business with them, and they can store more data about you to help them do business better with you.
// I'm worried my words are winding more than usual
// ah, I was program... software program... anyway... :)
// but feel free to follow up with further inquiries
3. As many others, I believe you got to the SE Network through SO, is that right?
Yep. When I was an intern, I occasionally had a lot of time to kill. So to look like I was working, I browsed SO. Then through the Hot Network Questions I found Worldbuilding, and haven't turned back since.
// hey, not two questions at once! ;-)
21:27
// sorry, sometimes I read minds?
4. Do you remember which was the question that brought you to us?
Oh, man. No, that was over a year ago, I hardly remember last week. But I recently found my first answer, it was a really interesting one about how time travel works. I'd like to think that's the answer I joined the site for.
// ooh, I want to elaborate on that
// but maybe I shouldn't
// yeah, never mind
// go ahead..?
// well as you wish, we have time, and since in one go you actually answered 3 of my questions ;)
// I'm all about efficiency :I
// so plenty of time to elaborate ;)
21:34
// well, fine, I can add a sentence then
// add it before the last sentence
// never mind again, I just defeated my own argument with itself
// I see :)
// time travel breaks down all barriers
5. Since you joined WB, you seem to be quite exclusively active there?
// I might reformulate that question later, but the idea should stay the same...
Well, anyone who knows me knows I don't have too much specific experience. I'm more of a general-purpose kind of guy. And while I think that has its benefits here on WB, where questions can be about literally anything (though anything would probably be too broad), it doesn't really transfer to other sites with specific answers. I try to browse around though, for instance I've learned a lot about Star Wars from SFF and am getting an interesting perspective on the English language from ELL
But since I can't really contribute to those sites, I try to stay out of the way of the people who do when it comes to things like chat and meta
6. This "general purpose" seems to be confirmed by your most active tags: society, culture, science... Do you have a preference?
21:54
Well, as far as I can tell society and culture are kind of the same thing, and for both of them I like them because it's interesting to see what happens to a soul when it's placed into a different world, or even a different species. But I would say that it's not so much the tags I prefer, but instead any question that is on-topic, in-scope, and sparks my imagination.
7. s many of the people interviewed on this blog you ran for a moderator post in the earlier election. How was it for you?
// the s was part of "As"
Well, I lost. But I was expecting that. What I liked the most about the election, though, is that it sparked a new interest in the site's scope, and really brought us all together as a cohesive group, all of us willing to help out to make this site great. I like feeling like a part of a group, and I usually don't, but during that election and ever since I've felt like I have a place here. And that's a victory in itself.
8. Amongst your own, what is your favorite question? Answer?
// ooh, that one's going to take some time
// I may have to get back to you on that
// sure... I won't be able to stay much too long... would it be fine by you if I just write the next questions, and you take your time to answer them... just mentioning the question you answer with a number?
22:08
//yeah, that sounds good... I should be getting out of here too
9. You have been around for some time already. Would you say there is a user who really inspire you? or that you look up to?
10. Are you actually building a world? And if so to what end?
11. Now is time to come to an end. Is there anything else you would like to add?
12. I'd like to thank you again for your time and looking forward to read your posts on WB.
// good questions, all of them. I will be back, mark my words...
// here would be it :)
// so in the morning (for me) or whenever you tell me it's ok, I'll put it together in a medium post
// remember to give me a link to the picture :)
