@MarkDominus In my opinion this can be useful tag. If some users disagree, they will say so in meta (or in chat).
I guess there are several people who follow new tags tab.
At least I am sure about Willie Wong - he removed a few newly created tags recently: linux; cosine-series; bayes; regularity.
Obviously he cares about tag-wikis and tagging quite a lot.
