Q: Can we eliminate adjacent opposing pairs while classiying the surface in other than the second step?

onurcanbektasWhen we apply the method of classification of surfaces to a given surface, in the second step we can eliminate adjacent opposing pair, but can we do this when, for example, in the sixth step if we get any adjacent opposing pair like $$.. d d^{-1}... ?$$

@MartinSleziak good idea. Coud be useful indeed.

@quid Maybe you could create it - to have a shot at taxonomist badge.
However, I suppose it would not be good to retag all old threads, since we would end up with too many old posts on the frontpage.
I'd say that if some old question is especially important, maybe the tag would be worth adding there. For question which are relatively recent, bumping does not matter that much.
But probably the tag would be mostly added if a question is bumped for some other reason.
And, as usually, after creation of the tag maybe it's useful to wait a bit without retagging too many questions - if somebody objects to the new tag, they can say so before the tag grows too big.

I created it.

Ok. Let's simply wait whether somebody objects. If not, I'd say the tag could be added at least to some relatively recent posts (without bumping too many of them at once).
I see you have chosen some of the most linked posts related to the topic. That seems quite reasonable.

Q: Can we stop the "Show your work craze"?

YoTengoUnLCDFor some reason, it seems that more recently the users of this site have adopted the fashion of commenting things like "What have you tried?", "Show your work", etc. In almost every question for which the OP has not shown his work. I completely disagree with this stance, here's why: The commen...

A: Can the tag (logic-translation) be useful?

Bram28I was the tag-creator and so let me first apologize for the problems I apparently caused! Sorry, I really didn't know the protocol here. I did do some searching for creating tags, but I never saw anything about having to propose the tag on Meta. Going by the comments, I clearly did not search de...

I have just made this post on meta - basically as reaction to that: FAQ for tag creation?

Q: FAQ for tag creation?

Martin SleziakIf you look at the posts about tagging you can see that several of the recent discussions where concerned with tags that some user created and somebody else questioned the usefulness of the tag. In some such discussions, the consensus was that tag should be removed - but in the meantime the tag w...

The page in the help-center is not among those that are editable by per-site moderators. I think a meta-faq post could make sense, which then could be mention in the tag-info. Maybe this Q could be expanded, so that proposals for content of said meta-faq could be included as answers here. (Reading again, maybe this is the intent anyway. ) — quid ♦ 8 mins ago
@quid If you think that this is a reasonable way to go, I can modify the post the way you suggest. (I.e., change it from the question "Should we created FAQ for tag creation?" to "Let's create the FAQ for tag creation here.")
Mainly, I would add to the question that the page in help centre cannot be customized for specific site - which means that this suggestion from my original post is no longer an option.

@MartinSleziak sounds good to me, but maybe somebody else has another opinion. Posisbly it makes sense to wait a while.

Fair enough. Let's wait a bit.
After all, we can later go either way.

Q: Should the "unit-of-measure" tag have a broader usage?
