You have the advantage that you can compare how things worked on two different sites. (I was only involved in tag-related issues here - and, to a lesser extent, on MathOverflow.)

I'll try my best to contribute here too - things are much more leisurely on Music Fans since it's a very small site. So, mistakes can be easily corrected or reversed with time and patience there. But, that may not be so easily possible on Mathematics SE, so I guess we have to tread more carefully in creating new tags and removing/merging old ones.
My impression is that there aren't too many users on this site who try to be active in the maintenance of tags. So it's nice to see a new face in this room from time to time.
