Clearly, I am not the only person who noticed that grew quite quickly.
And this happened again, this time with logical-translation which was created and after five days the creator decided that it's probably fine and went on to tag 70+ questions. Can we please try and push this stronger? — Asaf Karagila 8 mins ago
BTW the tag also has a tag-excerpt: "For translating between natural language expressions and logic expressions."
And the Taxonomis badge has already been awarded for this tag.

@MartinSleziak Also amazingly, the creator of the tag has 70 answers out of 72 questions. If that's not a disingenuous approach to retagging, I don't know what.

Q: Change the [Taxonomist] tag not to include self-edited questions

Asaf KaragilaAs we are increasing in size and in number of users, we start to see more often users which have enough reputation to create a tag, and without much oversight, they go on a spree to add that to 50+ questions in the span of a day or two. This is horrible, and Martin Sleziak has already had one go...

Hi Asaf, it's nice to see you in chat after some time.
@AsafKaragila As you can see, I have posted a bounty on the Meta Stack Exchange question to attract more attention. I am not sure whether I can do much beyond that. If you have some suggestions on the linked question and suggestions about specifics of the implementation of this feature, maybe you could post answer there - this could encourage other users to comment or your suggestion or add some more feedback in their own answers. — Martin Sleziak 1 hour ago
Ugh. I don't like the idea of starting to participate on more SE websites. — Asaf Karagila 56 mins ago
I am definitely not going to pressure you into joining Meta Stack Exchange. It's up to you to decide whether it might be useful or not.
My feature request here is at score 14 (+14/-0) and the one on Meta Stack Exchange is at 19 (+21/-2). I do not think that one more upvote from you would make that much of a difference. (And I am pretty sure that I have seen feature requests with much higher scores that are not implemented.)
As far as my feature request is concerned, I planned to wait a few more months and if nothing happens, then add one more bounty.
Since you linked to my question in your recent post on meta, perhaps this could bring some attention to my post on local meta and also to the one on Meta Stack Exchange.
Similarly, I am not in a position to judge whether you're feature request has better chance to get implemented if posted here or on the general meta. I did not find a similar feature request there meta.stackexchange.com/questions/tagged/…
This discussion is at least related to your feature request since it mentions retags by tag-creator as one of the concerns:

Q: What counts as "creating" a tag, for Taxonomist? And what prevents gaming the badge?

KipThe description for the Taxonomist badge is: "Created a tag used by 50 questions." This leads me to a few questions. Consider the following scenario: Alice creates a question that is tagged with aardvark. This is the first-ever question in the system tagged aardvark. After a few days, Alice ...

> Could I simply go in at an off-peak hour and retag fifty questions to get the badge, then undo my changes before anyone gets mad?

A separate issue: How can we help some that already has some positive feedback to get noticed by SE staff and maybe eventually get implemented?
On my meta.SE post I got link to this as advice:
Bounties on bug reports and feature requests usually tend to be a waste here. Some other ways of getting official attention for requests are outlined here: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/306397/…Sonic Wizard Mar 20 at 6:36

Q: How do I get attention for old, unfixed bug reports and feature requests without official responses here on Meta?

Sonic WizardI posted a question here on Meta Stack Exchange, or on a per-site meta, regarding a bug I found in the system. I got no comments, or a few comments stating that this is a legitimate bug (and not by design). However, it's been quite a long time, and no official response was ever posted there. Or,...

Aside from contacting SE team - which is mentioned there as the last resort - I think I have already tried with this specific feature request everything I could.
It is possible that moderators have more possibilities to bring feature request to attention of Stack Exchange team. (Maybe they can ask in Teachers' lounge. And maybe they have also some other channels available.)
@quid Do mods sometimes bring feature request from local meta to the attention of Stack Exchange staff?
Perhaps knowing more about this could be useful also here. Do you think that question such like this could be useful here on Mathematics Meta: How can I help feature request to get noticed/implemented? (Basically it is a question whether there is nothing else to do but wait patiently before it gets noticed - IIRC it was mentioned a few times that per-site metas are monitored by SE team for feature requests and bug reports.)
@AsafKaragila Maybe you have some comments on the above, too. At least you might have some ideas - I am not exactly sure what you had in mind when you said that we should "push this stronger".
And this happened again, this time with logical-translation which was created and after five days the creator decided that it's probably fine and went on to tag 70+ questions. Can we please try and push this stronger? — Asaf Karagila 1 hour ago
BTW I was surprised after clicking on the link in your comment to see that is already removed. Only then I noticed that it was a typo and the tag name is .
I see that you have also pinged the tag-creator:
@Bram28: Are you serious? Did you create a tag and then added 70+ questions to it in one day, without even bringing this to discussion, without waiting to see if anyone has any input? Are you kidding me??? — Asaf Karagila 1 hour ago
And since I have already pinged you @quid, just a reminder of this:

I am not sure whether mods should also remove the proposed synonym $\to$ and change the master tag in the synonym for to . (The other alternative would be to leave this to voting of users.)
Mar 4 at 12:29, by quid
@MartinSleziak my intent was to do so, I do not think it's reasonable to leave this lingering around. At some point it might kick in and no one might noticed. There is no urgency. I'll leave it for a bit, but likely I'll just remove them in a while.
The synonym $\to$ is already at +3, the one with has score zero: math.stackexchange.com/tags/synonyms
I support this very much. I've been planning to make (a) related feature request(s) in the main meta. IMHO ideally all new tags at Math.SE should be cleared in meta. And also, the taxonomist badge should be only awarded to those tag creators whose suggestion is adopted by sufficiently many other users. While thinking about it I searched Meta.SE. There is at least this thread, and others linked to it. May be we can revitalize that discussion there, possibly by starting a new thread? Network wide support would surely help the cause. — Jyrki Lahtonen ♦ 11 mins ago
So Jyrki found another related thread:

Q: Change Taxonomist's definition

Joel CoehoornHow 'bout we change the definition of the Taxonomist badge from "Created a tag used by 50 questions" to "Created a tag used by 50 users"? That would prevent users from trying to game the badge by editing 50 questions just to add a new junk tag. Promoted from my answer here: Stop stupid tags

I have added (taxonomist-badge) there - that will at least bump the post.

@MartinSleziak rarely in passing, not systematically. But SE staff follows all the metas.
Thanks for the reminder about the morphisms. It was in the back of my mind. I'll do it shorty.
Thiis afternoon usuually.

And do you think that having a question on our local meta along the lines I've suggested could be useful?

Yes, it could make sense I think. The other thing is that often times there is just not all that much that can be done. But still to collect some technical/practical information about the process could be useful.

Should we created tag on our meta, similarly as they have on the main meta?
I am looking at this recent question: Why does Duck Overflow start listening although I explicitly tell it I don't have a microphone? There are already a few posts related to QuackOverflow on the main meta.

@MartinSleziak I'm not in favor of this.

@quid I see you don't have taxonomist badge on meta. So maybe you can introduce it :-)
Although I am not sure whether and how fast this one can earn you the badge. (Especially if Asaf's suggestion gets implemented.)

10:56 AM
@quid Sorry I misread. (I am not sure how I was able to miss the word "not".)
Since the question was deleted, this is now moot anyway. But I'll keep this in might if something like this appears the next time.
BTW I have made a post about feature requests on meta: How can I help feature request to get noticed/implemented?

Given the voting below, I cancelled the (pending) synonyms. — quid ♦ 13 secs ago
^^ this is about the group and ring homomorphism. (Also shorty was meant to be shortly.)
