Q: Do we really need separate tags for momorphisms between certain objetcts when there's a tag for the objects?

MatheinBoulomenosCurrently we have tags for ring-theory, group-theory and semigroups and separate tags for ring-homomorphism, group-homomorphism and semigroup-homomorphism. (The latter tag is used a total of 11 times, 6 times by the same user.) In my opinion, the tags about the morphisms add little value to a qu...

A new tag was created. (Probably by Michael Katz.)
Previous incarnation of this tag was removed after the discussion on meta:

A: Tag management 2016

Asaf Karagila Resolved: manually removed from all questions. The tag bourbaki is entirely useless. It gives nothing that searching "Bourbaki" doesn't already do.

Q: Is the Bourbaki treatment of Set Theory outdated?

seraphOn page 5 of the following write up, the author asks why the Bourbaki did not notice that their system of Zermelo set theory with AC was inadequate for existing mathematics. Throughout the rest of the discussion, the author asserts that the Bourbaki group never acknowledged Godel's results on inc...

Q: What is the legacy of Bourbaki?

Emilio NovatiAs I was preparing a short lecture (for amateurs) on the mathematics of the '900, I realized that this year marks the 70-th anniversary of the founding of the Bourbaki group. I remember that Bourbaki has been important in my formation (in the years 1970-80), when it was considered as a "school" ...

Q: Bourbaki influence on the current mathematical research

user243301I know that the bourbakism had an influence in the academic world and an impact in secondary school and university. There are remarks in this Wikipedia dedicated to Nicolas Bourbaki. Question. Does Nicolas Bourbaki have an influence on the current mathematical research? In what branchs/field...

Q: Introduction to Bourbaki structures, and their relation to category theory

Alexei AverchenkoI just opened vol.1 of the Bourbaki treatise to take a look at how they define mathematical structure. I was amazed by its sheer complexity. Can you recommend an introductory text that wouldn't require as much effort to understand? Also, a few related soft questions: 1) Is category theory more g...

Q: Can the Bourbaki series be used profitably by undergraduates?

user31029Can the Bourbaki series be used profitably by undergraduates and high school students? Are we the target audience? I came across the N.Bourbaki texts while surfing the internet(I have not had the opportunity to access them though) and was a bit amazed by the Wikipedia article suggesting they did m...

Q: What is "Bourbaki's style in mathematics"?

GeremiaI know Nicolas Bourbaki "is the pseudonym of a group of (mainly) French mathematicians who publish an authoritative account of contemporary mathematics." But what characterizes "Bourbaki's style in mathematics"?

Q: Is there really anything wrong with Bourbaki's Set Theory?

user 170039Recently I have started reading Bourbaki's Theory of Sets on my own. Regarding one of the explanations of a concept when I went to a Professor of our college, he asked me why I was wasting my time reading a book which contains so many pitfalls. Besides, he also told me that Bourbaki's treatment o...

Mikhail Katz also created a tag-excerpt: "This is philosophy- and foundations-related material on Bourbaki, not technical questions on volumes like Algebra, etc."

@MartinSleziak Current incarnation also removed. After no meta discussion was initiated for the rebirth of the tag by the same person who created it last time with complete disregard to people who try to actually make sense of the tagging system.

I see Mikhail is immediately adding the tag back.

Yes, I see this leading to a retag war. Fun. I'm going to flag this and head out now.

Did you make a comment pointing him to the previous discussion about this tag?

He was part of the discussion. Mostly the comments were deleted because they devolved into an inappropriate stuff.
I would be happy if you could step in and request him to at least withhold further tagging.
This guy seems to be allergic to me, to the extent that if I said "black" he would immediately argue "white".

It seems we were here before:

@quid @quid, can you elaborate on the objection? My point with the bourbaki tag is that it corresponds to a certain style of mathematics and also a certain philosophy of mathematics. Sometimes this is helpful. Sometimes it is not, as argued by Adrian Mathias. A number of questions at SME deal with this by now.
Other than the above message in this room, I do not see whether Mikhail Katz participated in discussion of this tag elsewhere.
@MikhailKatz I do not think creating (bourbaki) tag is a reasonable thing to do, considering that result of previous discussion about this tag was strongly in favor of removal. At the very least, discussing the tag on meta first seems like a reasonable thing to do. (As far as I can tell, you are aware of the previous discussion.) — Martin Sleziak 15 secs ago
