all the models on grabcad of stirling engines that i checked were done in solidworks, and in order to convert them to a format i can use, you need to have solidworks. so, i'm building the engine myself using them as a guide.
and in a while, when there aren't other things that take priority, it very much seems that adding this model of a stirling engine, in .stl format, to grabcad, would be very useful to other people who don't have solidworks.

hm
which model do you need - stl?
and which do you find attractive? few examples maybe
yeah, blender can import stl
or obj
i actually wasn't very happy with the selection of models
yes they are mostly toys models I guess (haven't searched yet)
IDK throw some and criticize it then a bit
and yes, more or less powerful strirling looks more like ordinary combustion engine
basicaly a block of steel nothing to see there - that kinda thing
they have served well as an indication of how to model them myself, which is now far enough along it wouldn't make much sense to change my mind
ok. but why stirling in your case
why not, mostly. the performance is comparable, they have fewer parts that look easier to manufacture in situ, and i can make better models of them.
idk, a matter of preferences may be, by is possible I prefer turbines, they have long and glorious history of making energy
nice model)
tada! at least the shafts are in the right place and in proper proportion, and now i can make a housing and start putting in the stuff that cools and heats the fluids.
i have to connect the two tubes
it took me a surprisingly long time to do that. again. :P
yeap, those are time eaters. tried to model simple steam engine it took me few days in openscad (at least one day, no my previous work )) )
19:37
it took me a long time to even start, i checked and rechecked things. i think partly i just felt it was unfamiliar and i was nervous about how to do it.
19:48
there. just that one tube already makes it look much more impressive.

@MolbOrg wow. it is hard to follow what is happening from the photo, but i think i get it. They said 17% efficiency from that thing? amazing...
I stepped away from my usual habits - it just looks good )))
