11:00 PM
It's a comprehensive test covering our course, @Hippa. You can see the syllabus on my webpage :P I actually covered what I wanted to.

@TedShifrin Email send. I trust you to keep my name for yourself

Of course, @Hippa ... Just like I trust you not to put up memes of me all over :D

LOL
gosh I start LOLing like @BalarkaSen

well, @Hippa, I haven't ignored you yet.

Pfft, who does that? closes several windows of memegenerator

11:02 PM
@Hippa likes to do it to me, apparently, teadawg

@teadawg1337 Check my profile

Hello Professor @TedShifrin

hi @skull

LOL

11:03 PM
It is a sign of how much @Hippa loves me, @teadawg

@TedShifrin best prof :3

Sarcasm duly noted, @Hippa.
If you click on the link, there's a slightly more detailed syllabus, @Hippa.

It's not 100% sarcasm since I actually watched about 10-20 hours of your classes :)
I still prefer my math teacher though
He makes funnier exercise sheets, with simpsons

LOL ... well, I'm not teaching high school
I put a question on my exam about the Marx Brothers ... but no one knew who they were :(

11:05 PM
>:c

@Hippalectryon Are you serious, my T.A. does the same thing

Simpsons not in the exercise.. they show the exercise's difficulty

Eh, I'll wait on posting this question until tomorrow. I've got a few more calculations to work out

@JorgeFernández :O

Ah, I'm boring, @Hippa. I do that in my differential geometry class with a flower, a pine cone, and a pyramid.

11:06 PM
That meme is hilarious, @Hippa!
That's @Ted, isn't it?
Pahahahahah!

smacks @Khallil

Whatever happened to stars?

In my books, a star indicates that the answer is at the back, @skull

I'm sorry! It's just the face you made with the "I'm shocked" that tipped me over the edge!

That might heal the boring state
$$\int_0^1 \frac{1-x}{\log(x)}\sum_{n=1}^{\infty} x^{2^n}$$ :D

11:07 PM
With respect to $y$, @Chris'ssis? Easy! =P

@KhallilBenyattou what gif?

@TedShifrin Ah we didn't cover continuous probabilities
@KhallilBenyattou :)

well, @Khallil, that was part of the point ...

I meant meme, @JorgeFernández! Check out Hippa's profile!

@Hippa ... That's what you get for being in high school :D
So you guys didn't discuss the normal distribution?

11:08 PM
@TedShifrin I'm not really in high school ...
@TedShifrin Prepas weren't in our math program until this year's reform
It's quite new

It's nice to know that you give your readers some stars to guide themselves by @TedShifrin

smacks @skull

I guess that's why we only do probas on sets at most countable

(since I'm still ignoring Balarka, I have to smack someone)
well, @Hippa, I really never learned any probability officially until just this semester, teaching it.
I wish I had taken in it in college

@TedShifrin We didn't do the normal nor the exponential, but we did Poissons, which is pretty close

11:10 PM
not really, @Hippa
philosophically, quite different

is that Theodore Shifrin the writer of Multivariable Mathematics: Linear Algebra, Multivariable Calculus, and Manifolds ?

Would you recommend your books for independent study @TedShifrin ?

@JorgeFernández It's Theodore Shifrin, the writer of the awfully expensive book Multivariable Mathematics: Linear Algebra, Multivariable Calculus, and Manifolds
2
Not his fault though

@Hippa: Unfortunately, all books except free ones are expensive ... not under my control or any other author's

@TedShifrin Yours are still pretty expensive. I know it's not you who decided, though

11:12 PM
I've heard from people (high school to adults) who are so using them, @skull. They liked 'em.

@Hippalectryon How expensive?

500 dollars

@Hippa: There is a lot of content in my books, as opposed to all the crap out there that's the same price.

@Chris'ssis $187 on Amazon

damn, I got ripped off

11:13 PM
It's about doubled since it was published, @Hippa.

@TedShifrin That's regrettable :/

@Hippalectryon Well, the knowledge has its price. I think it's better reading such a good book than doing like me, doing research on my own and finding results this way only.

But students pay that much for a one-semester course covering far less than half ... Oh well. I'm not going to debate it. My diff geo notes are still free and used all over the world because they are :P

Any plans on newer editions?

No, @skull. Not so far as I know. I have sent the publisher corrections for a second printing, and I don't think they even bothered with those. I'm fed up.

11:15 PM
@Chris'ssis But my parents would never buy me such an expensive book :/ (hopefully this one can be found as a pdf on the internet)

All sorts of books are illegally on the internet

@Hippalectryon You mean as an e-book that can be easily downloaded, right?

The 10 ways of Bashing, by prof T.Shifrin
@Chris'ssis As a free pdf
I guess that can be called an ebook too

@Hippalectryon As @TedShifrin says, that might be illegal though ...

mais on s'en fout, n'est-ce pas, @Hippa?

11:17 PM
It is. Which is why I try to have my parents buy the books I use on the internet. @Chris'ssis

But we all know that all the best books are French :)

@TedShifrin >.> I try not to do it too much

(not totally sarcastic)

@TedShifrin Of course all the best books are French. I only write in French.
:D

I won't comment.

11:19 PM
^ comment
how immature will I get

But I would never smack you.

@TedShifrin How long did you work on your book before publishing it?

@Chris'ssis I never published any book :) I never published anything actually. What I said above was a joke towards what @TedShifrin said

many, many years, @Chris'ssis, and part of it was already published in another book
@Hippa: Je n'ai pas d'email.

@TedShifrin O_o
Isn't that your mail ?

11:21 PM
Yup.

It does say I've sent it though
22 minutes ago
@TedShifrin It's an empty mail (only <object> is non empty), check your spam

Well, I even checked my junk folder, which is where you belong. Maybe it'll get here in a decade or so.
3
Our server may have put it in its spam folder, in which case I can't get it.

oh, burn
damn, grab a napkin hippa

@TedShifrin Re-sent

do you know why you should grab a napkin?

11:24 PM
@JorgeFernández ? no
Does it prevent from being bashed ?

Of course not, @Hippa.

it's because you just got served

@JorgeFernández -________-

Lol

OK, received this time, @Hippa. I'll try to remember to send it next Wednesday.

11:25 PM
@TedShifrin Thanks

OK, out of here. Night, all.

Later

good night

Oyasumi

Japanese?

11:27 PM
indeed
hai

-_-

@skullpatrol I still can't manage to convince @Chris'ssis :/

Like I said pal, don't worry about it.

@skullpatrol When you're 16-17, it fells weird to be taken for a ?? (30 maybe) y.o. pro

That should be a compliment.

11:36 PM
@skullpatrol But I've learned nearly everything about special functions, sums and integral tricks from @Chris'ssis !
And now she believes I'm a pro :/

A sign of your mathematical maturity

@Hippalectryon Great. Now learn about more abstract things, eh? =)

@PedroTamaroff I'm following math classes you know :) I'd gladly learn a lot more by myself if I had more "free" time

@Hippalectryon No free time? Lies.
One can always make some time.

Well if some=epsilon->0, maybe

11:38 PM
@Hippalectryon I think some people still treat me like a 30 y.o. on here sometimes...

@teadawg1337 Oh what a relief I thought you were 75
:3
@teadawg1337 :D

I'm 18, lol

That's close
18|81~75
Mirrors win

well, he screwed up when he said people STILL treat him like a 30 y.o.
why did he say STILL?

@Jorge I've been telling people I'm 18 for a couple of weeks now

11:40 PM
Haha #conspiracy

People still treat me like I'm older than I actually am

oh I see. I thought you where remotely manipulating our minds

@teadawg1337 You're 18? I thought you were 12.

@Pedro That's beginner, not me

Go back to the election room with your propaganda pal :-)

11:42 PM
@skullpatrol Woah. You're mean today, eh?

I tell it the way I see it.

I'm 18 and I'm going to read Rudin

@teadawg1337 Good.
@skullpatrol I'm failing to find the propaganda here.

You bought me @Pedro I will vote for you! That's the best propaganda I've seen since early-middle 20th century!

A 12 year old isn't even suppose to be in here

11:45 PM
what is the propaganda?

Lying.

Beginner is 13, not 12

@JorgeFernández The Pedro Party forbids you to ask

Try wiki

11:47 PM
That was supposed to be funny. Sounds better in French.

It made me laugh
But I am in an amused mood

Me too
Thanks for your support @Studentmath :)

I supported you @Skull?

He said it was not propaganda.

Oh I was being sarcastic, I couldn't see what's the propaganda

11:51 PM
Saying he was 12, without evidence.

How's it propaganda?
I was sure he was 12 too, by the way. I mixed up with beginner I guess.

A 12 year old is not suppose to be in here.

why not?

SE policy.
That^ makes the statement political.

what is the minimum age?

11:53 PM
13

@skullpatrol I was playing with @teadawg1337.

Hey @DanielFischer!!! Did you mean this algorithm:
1) Subtract all numbers by 1.
2) Since the range is now 0 to n2, do counting sort twice as done in the above implementation.
3) After the elements are sorted, add 1 to all numbers to obtain the original numbers.
?

And I am playing with you pal @PedroTamaroff :-)
