I was just watching Ink Master (US tattoo competition tv series) and looking at some of the tattoos created by Ryan Ashley and realized some of the elements would make decent brushes..
I never really spent much time making brushes like this. I guess mainly because ornamented frames are so rarely used these days.
I really love the diversity of frames they used 100-150 years ago. But I have a hard time finding use for them in what I do. I think a double stroke is the most ornamented frame I've made. 😀
True.But I often used these as things other than frames. Spot illustrations for one thing or another.... The jewels probably will never be used, but the chains brushes make it easy to wrap something in chains :)
For frames I do a lot of very ornamental corners or center pieces, flourishes or ornaments that just don't work as brushes.
There's a place in some of my work for that 30s-40s stock certificate "feel" at times
I would love to have use for something like this. I even made the parts into puzzle pieces I can move around knowing that I probably never going to use them.
