@Cerberus Which were outclassed when the Americans & the Brits were on form. Unable to compete both the Vietnamese & the American revolutionaries resorted to guerilla tactics; both military powers found themselves fighting the local populations as well as....Creating unwinnable wars. Interesting similarities: the 18th C Brits dogged by weak political leadership (they were fighting each other in London) and some indifference (they were busy milking other parts of the Empire).
@Cerberus The British press viciously attacked the war and all involved, turning the public against it, undermining what was already a lacklustre effort. Look at how publicity influenced the Viet Nam war--films of children on fire from napalm; the My Lai massacre....
