@JoonasIlmavirta Found it! In Pompeiian election graffiti there is "oro vos faciatis"--" "I beg you that you may do," "do" must be, "do the right thing" being understood, which would be "vote for me". Why is "for me" not included--some readers could easily construe "the right thing" as voting for a rival candidate?

Q: "something qua something" vs "something simpliciter"

user501724I am wondering if there is a difference between the phrases. I have recently come across a text that uses the phrases "ideology, simpliciter" and "ideology qua ideology" near each other. While this could just be a pretentious author, I do feel like they have slightly different connotations, but ...
