Perhaps also I can request a Latin word for truism, and to see if this concept existed back then. After all, a truism is a somewhat fuzzy idea, often more colloquial than logical.
There even seems to be two definitions of truism, a colloquial one and a philosophical one.

@Cerberus Nah, I was just reminded of the Varian defeat when I read the news article. If they name a predator (?) after Arminius, it would make sense to name some prey after Varus.
Perhaps humor is discouraged in taxonomy, no matter how much I would appreciate such references.

And this English girl's accent sounded oddly Dutch to me.
Turned out she had lived in Holland until she was 6 years old or so.
Now she's like 25 and having lived in Oxford since then.
