9:00 PM
@Charlie Hehe. Actually my favourite operatic tenor is Carerras.

@JasperLoy I love Pavarotti

@JasperLoy It may be just a typo, but it is spelled "Carreras"

user19161
@busman Ah, it is not a typo. It is my mistake. I never remember which is which.

carerras sounds rather awkward and funny

user19161
@busman Don't they sound the same?

9:02 PM
nope

@JasperLoy absolutely not

double r is like in "rather"
while single r is like in "parents"

user19161
@busman In English, those two r's are exactly the same.

i thought that rr sounded like H in High

though at the beginning is always a single r, 'cause it can only be the sound like in "rather"

user19161
9:03 PM
@busman I am still not sure what you mean, because rather and parents have the same r sound.

no, no, double is called (roughly<) "sound r", while single is called "deaf r"
@JasperLoy Hum, ok, you¡re right, let me think of another example

in portuguese single r in the beggining of a word is roughly

yeah

in the middle is deaf

user19161
@busman I think you mean that you read the r in parents as a "flap"?

user19161
9:05 PM
The tongue makes a light touch with the upper part of the mouth.

@JasperLoy double r, rr is equivalent to the sound of H in english

I think there is not an englsh equivalent for double r, nor to single r
@JasperLoy Yep, it's like that

@JasperLoy holy

while with double r, you make your tongue vibrate towards your ceiling of the mouth
I think that if you're trying now it is gonna be rather difficult...
english speakers who learn spanish usually never get to make it sound properly

@busman what makes me very mad

9:09 PM
what is it?

@busman it what?
mad?

you said "what makes me very mad"
what is making you so mad?

third base?

@busman speak with the damn accent, jesus.

user19161
Baseball is beyond my understanding, as is cricket.

9:11 PM
Well, I understand that for most people it is difficult to abandon their native habits
but yeah, everybody should try to adapt to the language they are speaking

@busman i try as hard as i can to make accent. my techers liked them, the english and spanish. I think it respects the language.
@skullpatrol HEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!

hi @Charlie

I agree for the most part (it happened the same to me when I was in school, and happens now since the master's degree is in english) but after years have passed, it seems to me that not everybody has the same skills for languages
for me is quite easy to learn a new language, but for other people it isn't

@busman yes it's weird,but yes
@skullpatrol wassup?

in the other hand, I'm a rather mediocre mathematician, while other people learn in a very fast, natural way

9:14 PM
@Charlie Chillin' ... you?

of course.
@skullpatrol goody
@JasperLoy sports are beyond my understanding...

Shopping is beyond my understanding ;-)

@skullpatrol hehe

@Charlie hoho

@skullpatrol haha

9:27 PM
@Charlie hihi

@skullpatrol huhu
@Jasper don't turn your back to me!!!!!

and sometimes hyhy.

or high-high

the opposite of low-low

great!

9:29 PM
nope, because of double negation, low-low actujally means high
oh man, this is truly mathematician-like humour, it is loathable

but he's not denying

I know

it's $2low$
$2low<high$

you put dollar's as if you were TeXing?

@busman because i am
we use chatjax

9:32 PM
chatjax? it is obviously not working

Oh my f**k, such a thing actually exists

it does

The thing is, I run under Ubuntu/Linux, and I feel lazy to go and manually get the packages at the moment
but ok, I actually understand TeX code, so who cares
let's go back to $2-low < high$

@busman you just have to drag "start" to your bookmark.piece of cake,no problem

9:36 PM
in a sense, "low-low" is like a second-order lowing, like "the level of lowlyness is low", so in this way, low-low can mean high
okay
in the other hand "the level of highness is high" (yeah, I know) still means high
ah, look, now it chatjaxes all, thank you very much

@busman But you just said it was "double-negation"?
9 mins ago, by busman
nope, because of double negation, low-low actujally means high

yes I did
it was a poor try to make the joke bigger, I know

hi @JayeshBadwaik

@Jayesh !!!!!!!!
isn't 3h14min?
a.m

Well, I leave, it is midnight in this time fuse, you know
nice to meet y'all

9:45 PM
@Charlie yup. just got up to drink water. going back to sleep now in a min.

@JayeshBadwaik Ok.
Good night again!

@Charlie :-)

@busman My pleasure!

same here, bye

@PeterTamaroff $S_{\delta}(y)$ is an open sphere of a radius $\delta$ around $y$ in a metric space. On real line its an open interval $(y-\delta, y + \delta)$

9:47 PM
@JayeshBadwaik sleep tight

Okay. going back to sleep now. @Charlie Good evening/ Night.

@JayeshBadwaik Thanks!Now it will be.

@Charlie $\Huge\text{:-*}$
...

user19161
@JayeshBadwaik See you in your dreams. I am going to sleep soon too.

user19161
@Charlie You can always talk to me in your dreams.

9:53 PM
@skull when someone asks your name , you can say:"The coldest blood runs through my veins..you know my name!"

Chris Cornell?

@skullpatrol yup

@Charlie Snakes are considered "cold blooded," no?

user19161
@skullpatrol I think reptiles are cold blooded.

@skullpatrol yup

10:01 PM
@JasperLoy Reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects and arachnids are all cold-blooded animals.

@skullpatrol fish?
insects does not have blood

Cold-blooded is a generic term used to refer to a complex suite of characters that determine an animal's thermophysiology. These characters include: * ectothermy, controlling body temperature through external means, such as by basking in the sun * poikilothermy, the ability of an organism to function over a wide internal temperature range * bradymetabolism, the ability to greatly alter metabolic rate in response to need; for example, animals that hibernate Popular culture * "Cold Blooded" (song), the title track from Rick James's 1983 album *Cold Blooded (Rick James album) *Coldbloode...

insects have Hemolymph
Well , good night Gentlemen!
fish are cold blooded

Bye bye, Skull!

10:07 PM
later

10:56 PM
@JayeshBadwaik Oh, well. I use the notation $B(y;\delta)$ and call them balls.
