Turns out, your actual speed is the minimum between hour much you can download and how much bandwidth the remote host has for you, plus latency times such as handshakes and the such that aren't a function of your connection speed

In other words, the improvement in orders of magnitude in the download speed only matter for Steam and Ubuntu and generally very large downloads
