I think I finally understood the No Man Sky model.
All these years of FREE updates
No Man Sky is actually the beta test ground for Lights No Fire.
OUR PRAYERS HAVE BEEN FULFILLED!!!!!
Now, please increase the FREIGHTER storage limits while playing in "limited storage mode" - the limitations should be on your CHARACTER not on your HOME
The beta incenerator is born.

So what you're saying is I should finally pick up NMS since it's on sale for ~$31CAD on Steam.

@MBraedley It depends - would you play a game that hasn't a clear ending or main mission and is instead about going around exploring just for the sake of it?
Mind you, there is lore, but you have to go looking for it most of the time. Plot won't make you realize most of the actual story
@SPArcheon-onstrike From what I understand, NMS does in fact have a main mission. Isn't there a story that sends you on a quest to the center of the universe?
@Nzall There is but if you take the game lore... it would be like FF7 stopping right when you escape Midgard
you realize the nature of the universe and the mess behind it, then... all the rest is more of a "tease" than actual resolution.
@SPArcheon-onstrike You mean like in Starfield, more or less?
@Nzall not completely unlike.
Here we DO know the actors and we get an idea of how the pieces fit together, but it is never spelled out for the player.
and because of this you never get to really "fight" some bigger bad or anything similar
Example:
The main "get to the center" mission starts out as you searching for another traveler called "Artemis".
You discover what happened to them.
But you don't "see" it, you can only place the puzzle pieces together.
And the bigger pieces?
Probably hidden in a time limited event .
"The Cursed" expedition is probably the closes you get to see what they saw.
That said, most NMS players don't even realize the nature of Nanites and why the Gek race changed.
