@SPArcheon don't know about the third one but it's more trend following
like the core concept is sort of the same between Lethal Company and Content Warning but the loop is different where the former players just collect stuff, the later one person is recording the others
oddly the recording works well. not sure what's being done in the background
07:41
@Memor-X True. But I can't help but smile when the "trend" is basically "oh, look, that game got viral! Let's make a similar game as quick as we can so we can join in the money milking"

YAY!!! New drama! All the stellar rants were starting to get old.
Luckily Assassin Creed provided us with something new.
You mean the historically accurate black samurai that's pissing off people with no knowledge of history?
09:55
@Nzall yep, including Wikipedia who has been pointing out that he probably wasn't a samurai... :P
Yasuke (弥助 or 弥介) was a man, likely of African origin, who served as a servant and retainer to the Japanese daimyō Oda Nobunaga in 1581–1582, during the Sengoku period. He was retained by the daimyō as a koshō (小姓, page) for a period of 15 months until Nobunaga's death in the Honnō-ji Incident. == Birth and early life == Among those whose names have been ascertained, he is the earliest African to appear in Japanese historical records, but his confirmed period of stay in Japan was very short – about three years, from 17 August 1579 to 21 June 1582. There are few historical documents on Yasuke, with...
And how to forget the comment section on the trailer for Ring of Power season 2
@SPArcheon I've seen multiple real scholars on Twitter state that due to the nature of Wikipedia, it's best to look out other sources
> What impress me the most about this trailer,..
they haven't turned the comments section off.
@Nzall true that. The issue is mostly that I don't expect "Assassin Creed" of all to actually "match the setting".
I mean, I am perfectly fine with Yasuke being a samurai. I would raise an eyebrow if suddenly there are Templar knights involved too
Also, I am quite convinced that they didn't choose the figure just to give credit to a mostly forgotten historical figure.
Alas, to be fair, there are also quite a bit of fans that are mostly annoyied not by the fact that they choose a "black samurai"... but by the fact they choose a "samurai" instead of some popular ninjia figure (you know, those who were assassin by profession)
10:10
AC has always had a fairly accurate depiction of the larger lines of history, like using real historical figures, events in history like deaths and catastrophes, locations etc. the artistic freedom usually is used for the more fantastical elements like the overarching Assassin/Templar storyline, the tools and abilities of the characters, the Isu and mythical creatures,...
@SPArcheon I mean, there's literally a ninja on the promotional material
@Nzall they wanted to play as the ninja, not have them as a side character I guess?
Alas, my suggestion is just one.
@SPArcheon the ninja is also playable
find a distant place, prepare some popcorn, watch them ranting.
There is a reason I mentioned wikipedia before but probably I wasn't clear enough.
Let me fix it, and forgive me for the lack of clarity.
> yep, including Wikipedia who has (currently, and probably alternating every few second for quite a while) been pointing out that he probably wasn't a samurai... :P
better version.
By which I mean, have fun watching the revision history.

I mean most of the raging was that it was IMPOSSIBLE a black dude was in japan in those years
...it was
and fits within the AC cannon, that assassins would travel a lot to beat up templars
But hey its not the first time AC gets hate for being historically accurate
cue the tweet of the dude being mad there was same sex couples in AC: Odyssey, set in ancient greece
But yeah the funniest of the announcement to me is that I always told myself 'the day AC will be in trouble or they don't know where to go, they will pull out japan'
and here we are
14:07
to be fair, I am not sure it is "historical accurate" - as far as my understanding goes, the historical figure didn't "travel" to Japan - he was deported/sold there.
Different sources make different claim about the whole "he was made samurai/ he was a regular soldier / he never fought anything big", but imho then you have to define "samurai" in the first place (during Japan history it went from "mostly a soldier at the service of someone" to some form of "noble status" - see the whole Seinan Sensō).
Next people will be claiming there's no such thing as magic DNA memories
If I had to point out something is that based on the time period, I totally expect that the original Yasuke was probably treated as a "curiosity" there, almost like a trophy to show off.
Pretty much all historical fiction is historically inspired rather than historically accurate anyway
@SPArcheon Could you imagine how bad it would feel to play that game though?
@Ronan Oh, I know perfectly. But that wasn't about the game at all now.
Yeah I wasn't suggesting you were one of these fools
14:16
Multiple source states that Oda Nobunaga was so fascinated by this "man with black skin" that he ordered him to bathe to check it wasn't a trick using INK.
Nobunaga cancelled?!
... I fear that while today we are arguing about him being a "samurai" or if it works as a protagonist for Assassin Creed.... the poor real Yasuke lived the live of a "luxury pet"
(which probably was still better than living as a slave... but I hope you get me. A gold cage is still a cage)
Then maybe he was lucky and what started as curiosity did became some form of "friendship".
@Ronan Anyway, while part of the rant is indeed racism speaking I also think that some players are mad more because they wanted a game that was 50% Dinasty Warrior and 50% Naruto Shippuden...
I never know how I feel about criticisms that are basically just "I wanted a different game"
We dont know the story yet
Could be Yasuke is using his 'luxury pet' status to be an assassin and to get places he could not if he was a commoner
could quiz someone I know lol
@Fredy31 That would be intriguing actually.
14:25
Went to school with a dude that now works at Ubi Quebec city, that sounds like its the lead studio on the thing
Yesterday right after the announcement he switched all of his facebook things to the poster of the game
@Fredy31 either they know nothing or if they do, then they are under NDA
yeah
and havent talked to him in a decade so dont think he would break it for me
ave
ave
@SPArcheon (that sounds 100% uninteresting but that's just me)
Its the studio that did Immortals Fenyx Rising
guess that was the test run before going into AC
@SPArcheon Yeah they wanted Naruto, and got something that looks very close to Ghost of Tsushima
Who would have known that assassins creed would not give their historically semi-accurate story jutsus
even if, with the last few, it would not be far off
@Fredy31 give me a game about the original Sasuke.
Manga Mitokōmon would be a great candidate too.
14:34
I should find my sources, but also pretty sure that the ninjas we know are about as hollywoodian as pirates
like that never existed, its something that was created for movies and stories
far west is not far off that too
I... beg to dissent....
obviously there was no "do an hand sign and breath fire" but...
Also, this will never be not funny.
mumble... you mean Nami as the thief, Usopp as the gunslinger, Zoro the samurai and Brook as the elderly French pirate?
@SPArcheon That's blasphemy. Naruto is historically accurate.
14:37
seems pretty much One Piece imho.
Especially the Naruto run
It's sort of true, the reason ninjas wear black is because they're disguised as stagehands, so they can just appear on stage without the audience seeing them
It'd be more accurate for them to be dressed as farmers
@Wipqozn that is not the Naruto run. It is also not the Sonic run nor the Goku one. It is the ARALE run.
also, since I mentioned Mito Komon...
^ let me leave this piece of art here.
@SPArcheon apparently these weirdos are engaging in an edit war on this article yeah
wait until they find out Pope Alexander VI never engaged in an epic boss battle using a crucifix as a weapon
@Unionhawk ^ I would like a replica of this one to be fair...

18:44
oh god
im currently in the process of buying a house and there was a little confusion, making our mortgage start almost a week early
notary assistant and bank lady just throw blame to eachother and not going anywhere
notary HIMSELF throws in an email like 'BITCH, WE ASKED IT THE 22ND, ITS GONNA BE THE 22ND AND REINBURSE YOUR CLIENTS'
Meanwhile me and my so seeing the emails cue MJ popcorn meme
Also pretty funny how the notary, that is supposed to be the big, straight laced kind of job, is writing his emails in fucking Comic sans
19:03
@Fredy31 No, notaries are nothing special, but still a bit of a red flag
19:59
What I fucking hate is that they are making us play messenger between the bank and the notary, while we dont know shit and they know shit
just talk to eachother FFS.
and then you have to take a decision on the fucking spot and oops, was the wrong one
all that after the grueling long process of buying and selling a house at the same time
also all that while its their job to talk about it, but I have to play messenger while doing my own job
20:48
I guess I was lucky in that respect. Wasn't selling, but my lawyer handled everything except the dozen or so signatures
Yeah dont remember it being such a hassle on the buying
but what is annoying is that basically we buy then the day after we sell
and with banking delays, we need to pay both mortgages at the same time for like a week
because basically the cash we make from the sale finances the buy
so its a bunch more signatures and documents and shit

2 hours later…
22:45
@MBraedley Yeah, anyone can be a notary
