the overarching one i still have no clue where it goes
genshin is kinda like an anime, each region is a season/an arc, and then theres an huge story that links it all together you get small tidbits every once in a while
star rail goes the same way, but we have very little to go on for the over arching story as of now
genshin at least went easy; they threw in a bad guy and its always them; for some reason, that create the problem.

like in genshin every god has a Gnosis, which is the source of their godlike power, basically (spa will probably tell me im wrong); someone is going region to region and stealing them in some way
Who are the Knights of Ren? No clue. When did the First Order change from being the Empire? No idea. Who is that alien lady running the tavern who has Anakin/Luke's old lightsaber? Beats me.

and you are always a half step behind that organisation. hell, you even often try to stop the steal and for some stupid reason they make out with it anyways
ffs second region you are with the god of business deals and after beating them to a pulp, you figure out the god made a deal with them that if they did something, he would just give them the gnosis... they did, and even if by doing so they are thouroughly shown as being bad guys... well a deal is a deal
basically 'hey i did ask for them to fake a coup, and they did, violently, so i gave them a nuke; a deal is a deal'
