@Memor-X i mean, that's still putting them on ore
03:10
@Yuuki i'm talking about the edge around the miner since they have a +1 range of where they will actually extract from

@Yuuki Starcraft (placement is everything) -> Simcity (placement is simplified) -> Master Of Magic (there is no placement, your city is considered a single space with everything)

@Yuuki That every gathering building had a certain VERY small range around the building. it makes gathering annoying because you need to place more than you can support using your meager population
And related to that meager population: they don't have tooltips for what each type of civilian is optimized for gathering, they just place a small icon
I also bought Old World at the same time and it felt more up my wheelhouse, so I refunded AtS.

Last I checked, buildings don't have a range for gathering.
They did introduce logistics, which might be what you're seeing.
In which case, that is the range for which secondary production buildings in that range will go directly to the gathering camp to pick up supplies instead of going to the warehouse.
It's just that they will prioritize nodes closer to the camp and they will return to the camp to drop off gathered resources.
But no, you can place your gathering camps anywhere on the map and the workers will go to wherever to gather resources.

It's kind of a moot point as you've already refunded the game, but AtS does tell you in multiple ways that you're not so much building strongholds as you are building exploratory outposts. Which is why even 25 individuals is considered a high population.
@Yuuki I saw a golden aura around the gathering buildings I placed and it gave a warning about marking trees when I pointed out some trees to farm
18:20
@Nzall Lumber camps definitely have a range, but it's pretty huge
Also, camps can be moved for free at any time
18:32
Yeah, all camps have a range, but I can't say it's ever felt limiting

@Yuuki That's my favorite part of it. I get bored with city builders once things smooth out. The best part is early game, where mistakes are punishing and you're struggling to survive. And AtS is just that part over and over again!
