@Memor-X It is not even clear if the original HAPPENED by now.
Look at the intro of the game.
In the original Aerith starts with open eyes.
You get the intro, and then the last scene has her with closed eyes.
After you see the effects of Holy, the scene cuts to Aerith face, surrounded by particle effects. She raises her head and opens her eyes like she just "saw" something in her mind.
Now...
Go watch FF7 Remake intro again...
The remake... is a sequel.
The only thing I am not sure of right now is if the original happened or if it was just a vision that somehow both Aerith and Sephiroth saw.

@Elva Neat! I'll hit you up when I plan it.
👍
@SPArcheon personally i took that scene as Aerith finishing her praying for Holy and the Life Stream
when the cast realized that Aerith is trying to cast Holy the images they see of her (i think it was in Cosmo Canyon or the Forgotten City) showed her with her eyes closed praying. just moments before the Lifestream joins with Holy, powers it up and there is a blinding flash but not what happens to Meteor, and then Aerith opens her eyes as if she's finished praying
infact i still don't know what happened to Meteor in that flash. neither Advent Children or Dirge of Cerberus showed anything that looks like it's fragments around the ruins of Midgar
could have very well been obliterated into nothingness but not seen anything to confirm it
14:42
@Memor-X Despite how the scene was originally intended, the change in the remake has to be deliberate considering how precise they are on other things.
If you also remember how she constantly has knowledge of details she should not know, it is easy to see where they were going with this.
Some fans think that Aerith can "see future events" when she touches someone, but that don't seem to cover everything, as she knew who Marlene was before even meeting her.
@SPArcheon because of the Whispers and if they are a function of the planet like the Weapons, the Ancients may have had a means to commune with them
@SPArcheon yeh that last one makes zero sense in the "seeing the future" context
> [Marlene]: Daddy too? [Aerith]: You mean Barret? Yep. He's there too.
Do not even try to tell me that someone looking at Marlene would assume she is related to Barret.
@SPArcheon quite sure Tifa and Cloud mentioned Barret while Aerith was around
@Memor-X oh, yes, she mentioned that Barret EXISTS
not that Barret has an (adoptive) daughter.
when Wedge almost falls down.
That is all she says.
"That guy up there is Barret".
i thought they mentioned him while in the sewers or Train Graveyard
14:52
should check, but pretty sure she didn't.
Also worth noticing that Aerith know that RedXIII is a KID.
> Stop. This child's a friend.
Why? Because in the original he hides is actual age up to Cosmo Canyon.
In the japanese version he even alters the way he speaks to look older.
@Memor-X Also worth mentioning. Wanna play a game? Its a mind exercise...
Suppose you are Sephiroth.
Also suppose you know the original plot.
You realize that Aerith is your biggest enemy.
and you realize that killing her would only result in the same outcome: Holy, the only thing that can really stop you.
What would you do?
not to mention Aerith is quite intuitive even in the original. despite how ruthless they can be she not scared of the Turks. in Crisis Core if i recall she mentions how SOLDIER is scary yet it's implied that she was somewhat aware that Zack was in SOLIDER. then you have to remember she's also an Ancient and even as a child she was hearing voices from the planet and that's not just hearing the dead
What is the weak link in all the plot? What should you try to attack to compromise Aerith and Cloud?
@SPArcheon which probably also goes back to Cetran culture. after all, all life of the planet are children of the planet
@SPArcheon nothing
@Memor-X Nope, that is a word she use specifically on RedXIII. It is too deliberate - she is talking about his age - a detail she should not know yet.
because going by Advent Children, the planet would become the next Meteor
15:00
@Memor-X oh, but that is not what Sephiroth wants. He isn't just content of being Jenova's "dragon" trope. He wants the "god" status.
If you think about it, what was Cloud weakness during most of FF7?
not because of the remnants, because Jenova's corruption was already in the Lifestream after Meteorfall, a taint that still existed in Dirge of Cerberus as the "unclean" that DeepGround executed were those who had been infected by the tainted Lifestream, even if they were no longer suffering from Geostigma
@SPArcheon who know actually
Sephiroth has Jenova Cells. his will might as well have been Jenova's from the start
@Memor-X Sephiroth is still going around as a "separate" entity in some side material and most noticeable in KH (and again I find it extremely relevant that FF7 remake is done by the same people working on KH).
Anyway, missing the point here.
Let's try to reformulate the question
Obviously in the remake Sephiroth is trying to ensure a different outcome.
After all, if he was content with the original... why bother?
Aerith was resigned to live that life, die when she had to. Why put more trouble in motion?
In the remake, Sephiroth basically work so that you end up fighting the shadows, and so that fate is changed.
@SPArcheon yeh just ignore anything relating to Kingdom Hearts. trying to use that as proof doesn't help any case made
Why should he do that?
Why trying to change thing if he thinks he "won" in the original?
Obviously he doesn't. He wants to change the outcome.
And again, what would you do to achieve that?
who says he is though?
his interactions with Cloud could be more trying to attack Cloud psychologically. infact that is something Jenova would do
an alien creature that takes the form of loved ones with all their memories to lure them in with a false sense of security before going in for the kill
@SPArcheon also just because people who worked on Kingdom Hearts are working on Final Fantasy VII Remake doesn't tie it to Kingdom Heart's multiverse. otherwise because Garuda, Ifrit and Titan are called Eikons in Final Fantasy XVI and YoshiP is working on that then Final Fantasy XVI must be related to Final Fantasy XIV given the Garlean Empire refered to them as Eikons aswell
15:16
@Memor-X He attacks them on the bridge. He shows to be content when the watchers comes in mass to attack them. He seems to be the one who guide the group on the Destiny Crossroad.
@Memor-X I didn't mean that they are PLOT connected. I meant that I would not be surprised if they were THEMATICALLY connected.
Sephiroth actions seems deliberate at the end of the game, made in order to change fate.
@Memor-X now you are starting to get closer....
Again, I am not asking you to believe that Sephiroth is trying to change things.
@SPArcheon not sure what you mean. Jenova was doing that in the original too
@Memor-X Let me reformulate that. Assume that Sephiroth wants a different outcome. He knows that killing Aerith doesn't change anything since she would still be able to cast holy.
What is the next best thing to do?
You already said that yourself.
Who was the weakest link for most of the time in the original game?
Who was the one that could be the easiest to attack?
Cloud.
And since you seem to be quite intrigued about how Jenova and Sephiroth manipulate feelings...
What could REALLY mess up Cloud mind now, as he is a mixture of himself and... someone else?
@SPArcheon easily explained by the fact that the cast didn't sit around in the Lab cells for a while and woke up to find the doors opened and Jenova having broken free. they do waste time having to screw around with Hojo in the Drum but they are still early
@SPArcheon don't need to attack, Cloud's already a thrall in waiting because of the Jenova Cells in him. even in the remake we see them activate
@Memor-X so, doing nothing?
the psychological attacks would more play to Jenova being more sadistic
you know, toying with your food
15:25
The thrall still revolted in the original, and Mr. Long Sword took an Omnislash in the face.
I repeat, should you want to change fate, how could you try to mess Cloud mind even more?
And possibly compromise his relationship with Aerith?
I think you even suggested something similar sometime ago.
Or maybe it was b_jonas in another room
@SPArcheon well we don't really know what other changes they have planned for the next 2 games. just from what i know given the plan was to infect a gaping wound in the planet and then have Sephiroth/Jenova absorb the Lifestream if you want to make sure Holy fails, dump Jenova into the Lifestream
the lifestream gets corrupted sooner. likely wont be able to power up Holy. Meteor wins, the planet tries to heal itself and Sephiroth reabsorbs Jenova
@Memor-X To be fair, the end of the game almost seem "dragonball" in nature. They planned to absorb the Lifestream as it was just "energy", didn't consider that Holy would awaken the "conscience" in it. It is a theme quite common for their games. But I agree, it isn't that clear.
@Memor-X nice plan, not sure he could get hold of the whole thing in the first place, drag it there etc.
Furthermore, I am not sure Sephiroth and Jenova can "merge" with the stream at all.
@SPArcheon what do you mean "whole thing"
@SPArcheon well they can....well more Sephiroth dies and Jenova is made whole
@Memor-X sorry, my bad, incomplete sentence, see edit. I meant "merge with the stream"
@SPArcheon Sephiroth had. how do you think he went from Nibilhiem to the Northern Caves
15:36
@Memor-X the fact that he ends up to the cave actually suggest he did not merge, just "float" there.
For comparison, merging with the stream I suspect should be closer to Zamatsu becoming the universe.
Aerith gives the idea to have merged - no longer physically body but pure consistence that manages to get the life force to fight back.
Sephiroth seems to be a parasite that is there but is actively refused by the stream. He can suck energy but he has no control, the planet refuses him.
Similar to Lavos in Trigger, and both games were made at the same time
And to be completely honest, I would not exclude that killing Sephiroth inside the stream actually was the thing that helped his conscience to linger afterward.
atlas, Back to the original question.
If I was trying to mess up Cloud and Aerith to get in a better position in our chess battle...
I would try to bring back the one that Cloud mind is mixed with.
See what happens then when you put back Aerith real boyfriend in the picture. See if you can get them to fight by telling him that Cloud will get Aerith dead. Show him the original future when Cloud attack Aerith at the black materia temple...
To put it simply: my guess is this.
Zack will live. Sephiroth will make him an antagonist for some time. Aerith may still leave you for a while in an odd parallel to the original game, but this time it will be because she will leave with Zack.
They will join again in the end.
And since Omni Slash has already been used this time, the game will end with a double attack, the fusion of Zack and Cloud versions.

Q: What happens if you transfer a fully EV trained LVL 100 Pokémon from Gen 2 to Pokémon Home?

Trebor De MayoBasically, on modern gen Pokémon games, you can only EV train and max up to 2 EV stat at most (255-255 or 252-252-4). But in Pokémon Crystal Gen 2, you could EV train and max all EV stats, meaning it's stronger than those that were EV trained in the newer generations. I heard that EVs would reset...

Sony suggesting users to gift a PS5 as a Valentine Day gift.
First, people in Japan still can't find your console.
Second, 500$ for a Valentine Gift to someone who could not fell the same is a tad risky....
Third... things will get funny on White Day a month later

> Sephiroth fell into the lifestream, his willpower too great to allow himself to be consumed. Over the next several years, Sephiroth traveled the lifestream, the planet's life energy, and the afterlife for its spirits that contains the summation of the cognition its inhabitant have accumulated. Growing in power and knowledge, the fragments of his body congregate at the Northern Cave inside the North Crater, joining to recreate Sephiroth's physical form in a cocoon of mako.
not to mention a processed form of the Lifestream, Mako, is infused into people. though can't be sure if Sephiroth/Jenova would process the Lifestream at the impact site during the Reunion
and further proof that Sephiroth reformed. in his Mako Cocoon he only has half a body
@SPArcheon sort of funny that Larvos and Jenova are quite similar. both are parasitic extra-terrestrials who feed off the planet and it's possible that Jenova too does influence the development of mankind when you consider Hojo's trans-human experiments
@SPArcheon actually i've been reading that Sony's fixed their Stock Issues
though i suspect it's more a distraction
> New Sony patent would have players rent NFTs for a limited time, then return it so other people can rent it
once again NFTs showing they can't do anything new, only complicate existing systems
also i saw someone trying to defend this saying it will benefit the developers. yeh if this is anything like Movie Rentals Developers will see jack shit
i don't think Sony or even Blockbuster was paying movie studios every time a movie was rented
