@Fredy31 you should also watch every movie in existence to prepare for multiverse of madness

Hi. Do you think 5600G APU will give better FPS with SSD rather using just a normal Hard Drive?

I read some articles which say that SSD/Hard Drive don't matter in game FPS it only matters in launching the game.

So I'm curious.
@Vikas generally storage speed only affects loading times, but an SSD is still definitely worth the investment
Thanks

@Unionhawk papyrus was the only possible thing that would make this okay
well played

@Yuuki Sometimes it does feel like that with the MCU
@Yuuki and TV series
For most Battle Royales an SSD is necessary.

For other games a HDD will usually suffice, but it will sometimes hang because it tries to load something. And the load times are a miracle on SSD
Like jusst having your windows on a SSD compared to an HDD.

HDD: Boot, you can go do a lap of the block, go get a coffee at Tims, come back and your PC might be ready to go.

SDD: Boot, 15s, ready.
So yeah, if you are currently buying/building a PC, invest on a SSD instead of HDD. For sure.

If you are keeping your old PC up, its a good investment.
@Fredy31 Wasn't one of the reasons why they got rid of or replaced most Avengers and merged some of the teams because they didn't want people to feel forced to watch a decade of movie history to catch up to the new ones?
@Fredy31 I really would NOT recommend trying any modern game on a HDD. I mean, some of them have loading times that are measured in minutes with spinning plates
@Memor-X Fuck it does really feel like wandavision will end up mattering hard in Multiverse of madness
@Nzall Yeah, true, thinking about it: A lot of indies will be fine. Most if not all AAA will not run smooth
@Fredy31 that and in the trailer i saw i think i saw Strange Supreme who is from What If...
13:20
But hey if the only thing you play on PC is League of Legends/CSGO, HDD is fine
@Memor-X Im like at half of the Captain america one
think ill just skip to loki
But yeah at some point disney will burn themselves of giving too much MCU
@Fredy31 half of the Captain america one? isn't that like the first episode......meaning you're only half of the first episode?
at least after infinity war it was a soft reboot of sorts, but idk if it will bring new people
wasnt it a 10 episode series and i'm about at the episode 4-5?
dropped it a while back
@Fredy31 It's 6 episodes
Might have stopped at the 3rd one then
@Fredy31 9 episode series. Episode 4 was Strange Supreme and Episode 5, Zombies
13:24
@Memor-X Oh I was not talking about what if
@Fredy31 ah, I see. For a particular reason?
I was talking about the Falcon and the shield
@Fredy31 oh that's what you meant by "the Captain america one"
@Nzall just the series i dont think hooked me and my so
@Memor-X yeah could not remember the name to save. my life
the name is Falcon and The Winter Solider
thank god they don't use longer names
13:26
lol
But yeah, i dropped it like 6 months ago
but yeah I have a bunch of other series to watch/video games to play so if something doesnt hook quickly, next
especially since early in the year we jumped in critical role and thats a LOT of content
Yeah, in my opinion it does take until the second half for it to get up to speed. There are some shocking moments and decent fight scenes in episodes 4 and 6, plus maybe a couple revelations that may end up relevant later on. but honestly, episode 5 is pretty weak as well in my opinion with just 1 fight scene and a lot of "calm before the storm" setup for the season finale
But yeah, Falcon is pretty much "you can safely skip it unless you're invested in the mythos"
Yeah I also think i'm borderline on the MCU fatigue
So yeah the link with TV shows I hope that its gonna be minor or explained within the movie
I think the consensus among critics and viewers is that Falcon would have worked much better as a movie
and I personally think that if they force people to watch the TV show to understand the movies they will lose most of the public
they will keep the diehards sure, but think most of the common movie goer will just bail
@Fredy31 I don't think that's the case though. I believe they understand that requiring people to watch their shows on an additional subscription service is not a good idea, and thus far the shows have at most set up a Phase 4 or 5 villain or hero
13:42
I was dreaming of 5600G for last few months and when I was really serious to buy it, AMD announced 4600G today 🤣 I will need to wait to see which is value for money.
@Fredy31 Battle Royales is a game?
@Fredy31 Oh yeah I was also wondering like the game might not load all data into RAM always, so even after you have launched/loaded the game, it still might need to read some data from storage and that's where role of SSD/HDD might come into play.
@Vikas Battle Royales: Fortnite, PUBG, Apex, etc
Just read, games where one person survives?
I haven't played these games.
Yeah, but huge map that needs a huge portion of it loaded at once will make most HDD jump out the window
Haha.
But as @Nzall corrected me, any recent triple A game that is released will need an SDD to run decently
And id add anything that came out since the last generation of consoles
because its one of the major changes between the PS4 and PS5, an HDD to an SDD
13:49
only if you can't deal with loading screens
@Fredy31 Oh. I can't play recent or newer games any way. 5600G won't handle them.
@Memor-X If you want to play multiplayer, you pretty much need an SSD or some games might end up kicking you for inactivity
@Nzall At the same time, mostt esport oriented games are made to run at least decently on a toaster
@Nzall seriously? that sounds kinda messed up
Like LoL, CSGO, Valorant, Rocket league can run on really subpar computers
13:52
like the only "recent triple A game" i can think of that i've played recently was Horizon Zero Dawn and Satisfactory, aside for waiting a few minutes with loading a game they both play perfectly fine on a normal HDD. though the former has no multiplayer and the latter i play offline so maybe the difference is there
@Memor-X Apparently Rainbow 6 Siege will kick players for too long loading screens. Same with Overwatch and ESO
Though to be fair generally in these games, if your loading times are too long, it's unlikely to be caused by a slow hard drive
14:23
it's likely that you're a ghost masquerading as a human.
@MattE.Эллен huh?
ghosts get bad loading time. they prioritise cpu cycles for the living. (sorry, I'm just talking nonsense)
but noöne can tell you're ghost on the internet
SSD is the biggest way to make your computer "feel" fast
14:39
@Unionhawk Yup, especially considering how cheap they are. You can get 500 GB ones for under 50 EUR
SSDs are so great. I've slowly replaced everything in my computer with SSDs. Now I have a 120gb SATA SSD as a boot drive, a 500GB NVMe SSD as my games drive, and a 1TB SATA SSD as my everything else drive
@SaintWacko My next computer will most likely have a 2 TB M.2 SSD
Yeah even just a small ssd boot drive is very nice to have
reduces windows load times by minutes
15:41
Yeah I remember my old computer booting on a HDD.

Boot the computer, and you would have to wait a good 2-3 minutes before being able to do much of anything.

SSD: Boot, and I didnt even have the time to take a swig of coffeee and its ready
Exactly
"Alright, gonna hit reboot and run to the bathroom while it- Oh."
Oh have to update windows? Guess i'm done for the night. Reboot.

Didn't even have the time to pull out my switch... oh its done
