Humankind has some lovely bugs
@Nzall The "taking my toys and going home" strategy of open source development, pioneered by the left-pad guy. Some people really don't know how to act like adults
@murgatroid99 There is a certain irony in complaining about not being paid, then making yourself (even more) unhireable by pulling a stunt like this
And if you want to get a job, there are better options to try before publicly sabotaging a bunch of people
@PrivatePansy Amazing
How is Humankind?
huh, okay, so in Deaths Door you can do a sequence break to get the hookshot early by using the hookshot.
Yes, you read that right.
Use the hookshot to get the hookshot
00:31
...how...does that work?
@ToxicFrog I missed the start of it that fully explains it, but basically due to some glitch they were able to use the hookshot without actually having it. However, if they ever switched to a different item, they couldn't redo the glitch.
So they do this one time glitch to use the hookshot without actually having it, that way they can sequence break to get the hookshot super early.
After which they then go get another item they need.
I'm assuming the glitch is something akin to "Have hookshot active in another save when making a new game", or something.
Which is why it only works the once

@Wipqozn I'm playing it on Game Pass, so I think it's reasonable, but I would be pissed if I got this for full price
The graphics and sound is good. I think the simplification they made to systems are okay - it's more streamlined than Civ which does mean it lose some depth but the game is also easier to pick up
The neolithic era and the system of switching culture every era is pretty fun
The game is quite buggy though. You get weird things like that and very occasionally it softlocks. The AI is also quite bad, so the higher difficulty mostly just gives them ridiculous buffs instead of playing smarter. The cultures are not balanced - some of them are very good and others are so bad you'll almost never choose them
Also because of the way the game is structured there is basically one standard "build" unlike say Stellaris where there are enough choices to play in several different ways

@PrivatePansy Yeager that studios games always have bad AI
4x games have terrible ai in general
Makes it hard to enjoy them
@PrivatePansy That's a shame

Q: Why does speed fliping make you go faster than normal fliping in Rocket League?

LeahI understand how to speedflip but what makes you go much faster than just normal flipping?

@Wipqozn Shouldn't this be 2022, or is AGDQ just starting way late
Guess starting GDQ on January 2nd was considered a little too soon after new years
so they went with the next week
any good nights you guys are checking? for me i think its mostly friday, where theres the tetris guys again
@Batophobia I can't even blame this on the year change since I'm 2 years behind
yeah i think since the beginning of the pandemic i didnt watch GDQs
but at some point taking a break of GDQ is a good idea, becomes samy after a few years
Like when you watch way too much of an anime in. a short bit of time and i just becomes meh because you are overdosing on it
15:14
@Nzall Yikes. Thank goodness I haven't gotten around to using colors yet

@SaintWacko There are two types of apps in NPM. The app that is professionally built and maintained, and the thing called by 98% of other NPM modules that is maintained by Bob that created it 20 years ago and never touched it again.
the fact that things like that where someone pushes voluntarily or not shitty code to npm and crashes tons of apps doesnt happen weekly is crazy
Like I showed last week. I created a basic react project. it refers to almost a thousand of NPM modules that I would guess, if one of them gets demolished like that it would make my react development impossible to install
You can't demolish the modules any more, so as long as you set the minor version the previously worked you'd be fine, it's people either newly installing a module or updating the version that would get hit by this

@Ronan It's a bit more complicated than that though. Essentially, NPM's core weakness is that if you don't tell it to take a specific version or limit itself to a specific range, NPM will automatically upgrade any packages based on semantic versioning, meaning it'll take the latest release that isn't a higher major version. The reasoning is that generally, newer minor versions should be compatible, but improved, and as such should be drop-in replacements
17:43
And that is why we pin all versions of NPM packages
@SaintWacko Yeah usually in my projects is within a major version
Guess the protection comes from you cant go and modify an old version
afaik
