so if you're looking to do recording and wondering what kind of mic to get and you're confident in wiring stuff, might be a good idea to try making your own mic as it appears to come out much cheaper
04:34
got my second jab. no dick pics from Bill Gates, my internet is still shit, can't summon the devil and i'm not Magneto
WORST. VACCINE. EVER. didn't get any of the fun stuff
joking aside i just have the normal sore arm and chances are it's going to feel like someone is tearing the muscles out of it when i go to accidently sleep on it again because i'm an idiot and got it in the same arm
but have been told that if you're not immunosuppressant you don't need a booster for atleast 12 months which given what we currently know about the virus, makes sense
advice can still change but it remains like this, just turns the vaccine into my yearly flu jab
@Memor-X Pssst, it takes two weeks for the 5G signal to pick up. The microchip takes a while to charge up
@PrivatePansy lol, microsized only to take forever to charge. such technology

8 hours later…
13:12
@Memor-X yeah for me dose 2 hit harder than dose 1
still fucking better than getting the rona at full force
13:32
The more I look at the E.M.M.I. the more I think they are probably made by Apple.

1 hour later…
14:39
That is one hell of a headline

14:55
@Fredy31 I tried out v34 and it's quite nice tbh
veeery buggy tho
@Memor-X Yeah, watched that last night. I don't think I'd have made the shock mount that big, and probably would have used an actual XLR cable to plug into the pre-amp/ADC.
but that would have also made it more expensive.
Although the use of O-rings for the shock mount is a neat choice
@ave You tried what? Punching children?
:p
ave
ave
@Fredy31 yep
loads of fun. thanks zuck for making me discover the joys of accidentally punching kids!
3
lol
But yeah I havent yet jumped into the VR game, the headline was just too good to pass
ave
ave
a lot of vr stuff is fairly uninteresting to me tbh
15:19
really seems like theres a good afternoon, or 2-3 days of fun in VR.

But then you got your 300$ setup that collect dust
ave
ave
@Fredy31 that's why you get into rhythm games
then when you burn through boneworks and hla you have something to play on your $300 facebook meta spyware :p
@ave I didn't even know you HAD kids in your household you could accidentally punch. Or did you kidnap someone again?
ave
ave
@Nzall "again?" shhhhhhhhhhhh
More seriously: I have accidentally "hit" my partner (who is not a child) in VR before
when she was passing through etc
not like, hit hit in the viral videos, but just light bumps
and in return she had that happen with me too :p
15:52
@ave yeah the only game on VR that is a 'you'll come back to it over and over again' is beatsaber
ave
ave
@Fredy31 there's also pistol whip etc to be fair
@ave Glad you clarified that
16:24
@ave I've just kicked cats before
5
Oh man, I haven't tried it since I got the dog. That's going to be a disaster
@Yuuki NFTs are an interesting idea, its just... why? Like I'm the owner of that internet image, but its not physical in any way, and really, anybody can screenshot it and post it anywhere
and people pay more than I expect to do in my entire career for one?
Oh damnit
I really should have known better
Like with physical art, I get it, because you got exactly the work of the artist. Every one of his brushstrokes and all that. If I buy a mona lisa, its gonna be a reproduction, and wont be the same as the one in the louvre
but if I buy an NFT, I just see a bunch of pixels and someone that just screenshotted it has basically the same thing
16:40
in some cases, isn't it that you don't have the image itself but rather a link to the image?
it's like owning the directions to a museum spot, you just have to hope the museum doesn't renovate the mona lisa gallery
@Yuuki In all cases. The blockchain can't store the actual file, only a reference to it.
17:02
@Fredy31 not just screenshots
right-click -> save image is one of the biggest threats to NFTs
17:23
@Nzall Kinda funny that people are ready to put down millions on something that can be 'hacked' as easily as a right-click + save
Just prooves once again that some people just have too much money
@Fredy31 It's an inherent problem with all digital goods distributed through the Internet. To view them, at some point they inherently need to be on your computer in a human-readable form. That's just how the Internet works
And i dont want to make a TIF leak, but I think thats what is causing unrest rn. Nothing is more annoying that while you see that you have to work your 40h week or wont be able to make your bills, and even then you make them barely, you see that other guy drop enough to buy a house for you and your whole family on something as dumb as NFTs
@Fredy31 they're not just dropping that on NFTs. That restaurant in London where they feed you gold coated food is another fine example of gratuitous consumption
20-30 years ago people that were stupidly rich were basically in their own world, and you would not really see them.

But now with social media their kids post all about that 3rd yatch, or sometimes they will do it themselves. Showing everybody how stupidly rich they are while most of the population struggles to put food on the table or even own the roof above their heads
and well anybody thats been in a school playground can tell you, a quick way to piss off somebody is flaunt that you have something they want in their faces
ave
ave
17:46
@Fredy31 it'd make more sense if you could get copyright transferred alongside the nft
as that's a legal concept that exists that we accept
18:13
@ave Even then, unlike music, its not like you could make money off every time an image is seen.

1 hour later…
19:27
@Fredy31 wait 'til i tell you about the hubbub over right-click + "view source"
@Nzall i mean, even then at least there's gold in your stomach
So Amazon is currently beta testing a new game, Lost Ark. Because Amazon, you could get a beta invite through Twitch Drops, and my favorite streamer was one of them. So after watching them for about half an hour, I could register my drops... And I got 4 emails for beta keys within 20 minutes. ALL 4 KEYS WERE ALREADY REDEEMED!
How the fuck does Amazon fuck up a mail merge that badly?
@Yuuki We had a client one day that REQUESTED, NON NEGOCIABLE that we disable right click on its website because people would steal their images.
I blew his mind by showing him F12. And that there is absolutely nothing we can do about that one
Still wanted us to disable right click tho
I swear working in webdev sometimes makes you want to punch puppies
at a certain point, you just do it and don't bother proving anything to them
I've had to deal with clients like that. Telling them that regardless of what you do to the app, anyone with a camera can just take a picture of the screen
or there's plenty of screencap apps out there
or the PRINT SCREEN button
19:39
yea, but a camera is something literally everyone has and knows about
plus it disconnects it from the computer, so they get the idea that there's nothing that can be prevented
And later I think the same month I open the site of a client, and the big hero picture up front and center has a watermark 'Alix'. I google it, its a town in france, and their images look basically the same.

Had to explain they would receive a fucking copyright notice if they continue looting images off the web
