What you can actually do, is install steam on your external hard drive also. It's a touch annoying to have to quit one instance of steam to start up another, but it works, and shortcuts will work appropriately too
Steam is steam. It doesn't care that you didn't download it from that installation of steam. As long as it's been downloaded by Steam, and steam recognizes it on your account, you're good to go.
When players of a multi-platform game compete online, are they segregated by platform? For example, do PC players of Left 4 Dead ever meet Xbox players?
In the late game, if I'm on a 3-4 bases and building tier 2-3 army (Terran Air), I end up with a ton of extra minerals. There are usually no more available expansions and I only have 1 or 2 rax because I raced up the tech tree. Where should I be spending my minerals?
