I'm not sure how he prioritizes chomping but I think collectors are lower on priority than foundations.

But I have seen him chomp collectors.

The priority for collectors is higher than internal foundations though so if your collectors are all on an edge and fortify the rest of your edge foundations, he'll start chomping your collectors before internal foundations.

I really wish there was some more use for plastic.

Flotsam (which is basically Raft but a city-builder) uses plastic to generate oil, which is nice.

I really like all the building designs in Flotsam, they're really amusing.

One thing I think is really interesting is that the game is structured like a roguelike, with sequential areas separated by upgrade shop things, but it's so sandboxy that you can escape the roguelike structure with the right stuff. Though you can never really escape the "dying instantly to bullshit" potential.
