During the Monster-Slayer admission quest, you are required to spit in the Black Pool.
I found the pool, fought some monsters in and around it, but cannot frob the pool itself.
How can I accomplish this tier of the quest?
@fbueckert Ah... I tried it out this weekend and I have to say I think it worth while to give a try.. Its oddness, like playing a very well designed single player game with multiple people :)
@James, payment issues. No idea what caused it but payment was declined. I tried to sign in without noticing this. I guess that caused the ban. Funcom wants me to email their default support email with a jpeg of Driver's license & credit card
I heard quite a few people were having issues with Paypal validating and such properly.

@agent86 policy guidance, and I don't now that I've seen it used in practice. I think it's being abused to substitute common sense community moderation with another hard and fast rule. I'm writing an answer on the older discussion
@tiddy My problem with the signup was it appeared to all be on an unsecured connection. After I clicked the submit button it was HTTPS and I just have to hope funcom are not daft enough to have put the first page just over HTTP
@MarkTrapp From what I recall from the discussions that lead to that question and answer, it was grace's intent that those things not get re-opened, and that they get deleted, and it seemed like the community agreed...
I don't really know how we can separate pre-release questions into categories of "stuff that should get re-opened" versus "stuff that should get deleted"
@James, I also noticed their CC info form only contains one address line. My CC is billed to my old APT, I've since moved into a house. That address change is still being processed by bank. So all and all I have no idea what is causing the issues
@tiddy Blizzard required a scan of my PhotoID when I was monkeying around with my battle.net accounts which I can understand and such. But if you do send them that information (cause the game is kewl) then I highly recommend you do not just send them unobstructed.. LIke blank off all the numbers but the first 4 or so... I dunno man.. Just that whole thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth
@James haha definitely. Im considering emailing the picture. But I will remove all photos, numbers, information. The only thing I'll leave will be name. And the name and last 4 digits of CC
@fbueckert That I do.. about 50min from Blizzard actually.
Ahh..

@agent86 You don't need to. Trying to sort things into concrete boxes without looking at the context of the situation is exactly the type of thing I'm saying is abusive. We should be judging individual questions on their merits, not whether some rule that only a few people who follow meta have seen and understand applies. We don't make the internet a better place by deleting questions that would be just fine had they been asked after a certain timestamp
@MarkTrapp without rules that everyone can understand and can be applied consistently, we're just going to make a mess of things. if it's not clear what action should be taken in most cases, we end up with edit wars, close/open fights, inconsistent/hypocritical enforcement, etc.
this was the problem we had with ITG - people didn't know what constituted "too vague" to cast a close vote, and then we had people who hated ITG and would close vote everything, and daily we had fights over the questions.
@Shinrai I am eager to get a bit further into the dragon character I am playing right now. I have to say overall I am liking the dragon's take on things but I would like to do a templar next and maybe an illuminati last.
@Shinrai I think I should have taken the hint when I was surrounded by guys with twice to 10 times my health while trying to make it to the air lines :)
I've been taking my time and have never been in serious trouble. (Except for the area southeast of the airport in Kingsmouth though which is obviously endgame tier stuff)
@Shinrai Yeah I was in the savage woods and every quest rated as 'Devistating' :D I asked about it and was told to fix my gear, didnt change anything and they went 'So uh what QL is your gear?' hehe.. Apparently that place is a QL3 place :D
Yeah those giant hulking things with 21000 health?
Those are what I was talking about.. and then teh zombie packs where each of them have like 4000 health and do 1/5th my health a hit.. I was like 'Why am I here!?' and then I stupidly walked into a bear trap :D
@James Still no chance to check out any of the Gust games, I take it? :P

@agent86 If a rule prevents the site from fulfilling its function to make the internet a better place by providing expert answers to relevant questions, that rule is invalid (q.v., Wikipedia). The "fairness" justification for the rule does not supersede our site's mission. Life isn't fair.
@MarkTrapp we have lots of rules in this vein though. For instance, "why did the developer do it that way" questions are sometimes answerable - the developer said why at one point. we still close them all. That's not really making the internet a better place, but it's still the rule.
So basically I have a ton (400+) of Inferno Essences, because I salvage every iLvl 61+ item with less than 1000 gold vendor price in hope for a Fiery Essence.
Now I want to "invest" those crafting materials in items. I know I have to buy a recipe eventually, but which one? My goal is to either g...
@FAE: Since you loved the Bach one I linked, I'm thinking you'll like this one too! Unless you hate Mozart for some reason. But that would make you a monster.
I have direct rendering enabled on my ati radeon 4200
I have changed all of my registry and game settings to make it work correctly and well.
BUT WoW still wont run past 8 fps. I honestly have no other ideas Ive searched all over google and tried everything. Ive heard wow usually runs better on w...

I think we're a little too aggressive on classifying questions as "why did the dev do it that way?" I mean, the bad ones are usually obviously bad. if we have to argue about if it's bad or not, it's probably okay
@fbueckert They are absolutely my favorites. Especially the newer ones. If you haven't played them, I can't suggest them highly enough - criminally underrated.
Let's take Lethal Application for a moment. Is there a single best weapon? No. But some weapons still shine vastly above the rest, there's definitely sets of recommendable weapons (synergistic or otherwise, circumstantial or otherwise), which would warrant "What are the best weapons?" as merely misguided rather than unacceptable.
@fbueckert Bringing up LA was more of a followup to my original statement, which was, "Is this possible?". It isn't a judgment that's identical for all games - sometimes there's either too many factors involved, or the question is better directed in another direction.
I don't personally know enough about craftables to know how exactly they work in terms of consistency, because the fact it's being asked as such implies there's enough consistency that the consistent parts are what is desired to be ranked.

@fbueckert How long did it take you to do the bestiary completion fragment? That's the one I keep putting off (and the two Void Beyond paradox endings, but I think I can knock those out pretty quickly)
@MarkTrapp More tedious than hard, except for the Proto-Behemoth in Academia 500 AF. That thing will destroy you even at maxed out Crystarium, if you're not prepared for it.
@GraceNote The items for D3 are too vague to go, "This is the best item you can get".
@fbueckert Then that should be the judgment on the question
user2334
@fbueckert Yeah, that's what I'm wondering: how many hours did it take you? I feel like it's going to add another 10-15 hours to my playtime so I've kept ignoring it
@MarkTrapp I don't recall exactly what I used; knowing me, probably dual Durable Collector's Catalogs.

I was also trying to get OP monsters for the sake of having them and finishing all the coliseum battles. Ah, FF13-2: you'll go un 100%ed like all the other Final Fantasies.
So, I have been playing quite a bit of The Secret World over the weekend and have worked my way through the main story line in Kingsmouth.
I have noticed two things. First is that when I run into something that can squash me, usually by accident, I have a very hard time getting away. Second is t...
@GraceNote and that's why I pinged you. No matter how clearly I think you've stated your position, I always find it's practically the opposite of what I thought it was :P
Ironically, we created this "guidance/policy/magic hand wavey thing" after I suggested we wait and re-open a mass effect 3 question: meta.gaming.stackexchange.com/q/4051/13845
@GraceNote I don't really see that much room for perspective or interpretation in what you said on that question. that it's been enforced in the manner it has been is surprising?
@agent86 Give me a moment to more collect my words when I'm not in the middle of summat and maybe I can phrase myself more clearly (as to what I'm saying in here, not what I said back then)
I'm just chuckling that we did things on a case-by-case basis, and then this seemingly very hard-and-fast (but not really!) guidance came along that disagreed, and now the pendulum's swinging back towards case-by-case.
and each time I get into a discussion about it and get to change my mind about what I think is the best course of action :)
@fbueckert I'll hafta think on it a bit, tied up with work on the other monitors lol

Guidance on SE, as I understand it, is more like Asimov's Three Laws. "1. Provide quality answers to relevant questions. 2. Do X thing except when such thing would conflict with the first law." The second clause is always implied.
@Shinrai The "used game" shop in town likes to price things at their absolute highest market value. They had a boxed copy of SNES Ogre Battle priced at $150.
@MarkTrapp the "why did the dev do it that way" questions were also something I didn't precisely get (when they're answerable). feel free to crusade against both, since it seems like there's far less opposition to our viewpoint than I had assumed.
@fbueckert I actually still own a copy that I bought a long time ago. I own very few PSX games, but that one is among them. It's OK, the back half feels rushed and weird, but it's overall pretty fun.
recently I played a fan translation of the DS SaGa 2 remake, which is a solid RPG from the golden age of the game boy era. It was released here in the states as "final fantasy legend 2" I believe
the translation was kind of so-so, but the game itself is quite good.
I've been exploring the first real quest area after joining the Illuminati, and (expectedly) found a bunch of other people also wandering around, killing zombies.
If I decide to help someone kill a few zombies without grouping up with him, how is experience handled in that case? Am I stealing ex...
I know in many other MMORPGs, it is standard for health bars or other parts of an enemy's information to be marked in different colors depending on how difficult that encounter will be. Is there any similar system for The Secret World?
I noticed that the enemy's name can vary in color, but does ...
Wtf kind of mail carrier doesn't carry slips to sign for the packages they are delivering!? I have to wait until tomorrow to get a package that I had in my hands because the idiot forgot the most basic part of their job...
People make mistakes. Raging at us if fine, let off steam, et cetera. but I don't think callling up the company and raging over a simple mistake is a good idea.
@Wipqozn The problem is that the employee has forgotten a basic component of her job. The very reason for her job is to deliver packages.
If she is unable to do that, that indicates there is either a training problem (on the company's end), or an attitude problem (on the employee's end). Either way, letting the company know will help them do their job.
@Wipqozn So it's ok for someone to hand you a package, go, "Oh, wait, you need to sign for that!", tell you they forgot the piece of paper you have to sign, and run away?
@Wipqozn I agree that mistakes happen; what I don't agree with is going to deliver a package, and at that point, realize you're missing a key piece of equipment.
