@RedRiderX after the amount of times I've done something that somebody has questioned I refuse to do something if I can't get an answer out of somebody who has been around here longer than me as to how the community would accept it being done
Once you get to the Inn in Gran Soren, you can unlock the rest of the available vocations.
Aside from the differing playstyles, are there any mechanical or character-development reasons to switch?
I cannot afford to equip my Templar with really good items, as I have to use all my money on my main char.
The Templar seems to do really nice in Act 1 with the gear I gave him.
This looks quite different in Act 2. Here he can only divert the enemy for a few hits until he dies. Act 3 is a disas...
I recently got a wired (USB) XBox 360 gamepad. It was nearly plug-and-play on my laptop running Ubuntu 12.04. However, some control axes were mixed up. I used jstest-gtk to reconfigure the mapping and jscal-store to (supposedly) save the new configuration. However, when I run Xonotic or Nexuiz (F...
The first time that the phone icon appeared, Juliet answered it automatically, but since then I have no idea how to take the call. I've tried every button and combination of buttons I can think of.
I played infinity blade 2. Then I chose new game +. For weeks no problem. I enjoy the fact that I can gain level again.
Then suddenly after some update or what, I am back to the original rebirth.
With all of my powerful weapon intact.
I press new game + again and it goes back to the original s...
@GnomeSlicE Is it actually applied as a texture in the bump map channel of the material applied to the proper faces of the coin? Also, are you sure the UVs on in the texture channel for the bump are set up correctly? There's UVs for the texture just as there are UVWs for the model.
@GnomeSlicE Also, for the UVWs applied to the model, you'll want to check your modifier stack and sub-object selection as the modifiers only apply to the sub-object selection. To get them to stick with a given sub-object selection, you'll need to collapse the modifiers in the stack as appropriate to your design.
@GnomeSlicE if you apply a checker pattern yo your coin I'll see the the uvs aren't applied properly to the object (you'll see it's distorted). Take a look at this tutorial and see if this helps: youtube.com/watch?v=GrBt6gWi0jQ
I've got an older version of max on my tower here so I'll see if it opens up. 1 sec. I know this stuff inside and out so I'm fully confident that I can sort it out once I see your material and model setup.
@QAzer Apparently I scuttled my max install on that tower for certain reasons. I believe I have the installer on an external drive here. I just don't know if I wanna go through a max install right now. Have you got this one in hand?
@John I can sort of see what you're getting at with a flimsy tower built by adding flimsy structures on top of flimsy structures, but it's a poor analogy as Jenga is played by taking blocks away to make the structure intentionally unstable.
When making a question.... how do you make an "enter" show? I think its a carriage return technically, but currently while in the preview it shows sentences like "Type 1: Something Type 2: Something"
Table of Contents: Page with heading "Introduction" is Page 1 Footer with Page Number: Table of Contents Page 1, page with heading "Introduction" is Page 2
thats how it looks inthe editor
but in the preview, it looks like....
Table of Contents: Page with heading "Introduction" is Page 1 Footer with Page Number: Table of Contents Page 1, page with heading "Introduction" is Page 2
@John A more apt analogy would be a house of cards
@QAzer I know max every which way. If one of us is going to have to install it, I guess I may as well anyways. I need to do some 3D work soon enough anyways, but was putting it off until the weekend.
@QAzer I could try my old version, but while most simple .max files should be compatible with older versions, this one may not depending how Gnome saved it out. I should probably see about grabbing a current version while I'm at it. And I thought about sleeping tonight.
@QAzer Actually 2009 XP. I was doing this stuff at work and then school for a bit the last few years and didn't keep my home setup up to date to keep costs down.
@QAzer If he saved with it marked for older versions of max, a .max would work too.
@QAzer I seriously thought I had max installed on that tower. Just adobe suite and stuff for for font and DVD ripping/editing/conversion that I did for some TA work in the new media and music departments.
@QAzer But then you can't clearly tell Gnome what was wrong with it. I could probably create the model for him in less than 5 minutes in max (f I had it installed) and just give them something possibly even better than they could do, but then they wouldn't have learned anything from the experience.
@QAzer Yeah. Mine's looking like an over-nighter too. I could get 2009 up right away as I have the installer right here, but I've lost all enthusiasm for that version now. If only Gnome would've posted the ~6 relevant screenshots for the setup and I could have clearly told him what was up without effort.
@QAzer Default Cylinder so yeah, but looking at the screenshot, the setup is terrible for the heart texture used there. It looks like neither the model nor material is setup as it should be for something this simple.
There are really 2 approaches here, but the simplest would be to fix the textures to map correctly to the desired target, correcting the material (possibly by adding a second mat to the object or an unwrap or something) and maybe touch up the model/UV-mapping if needed.
@QAzer Oh. There's smoothing applied or something, I think. The edges of the coin are chamferred. That would explain the excessive poly count. I don't think many people have a very solid grasp of smoothing groups in max.
Wow, that description of the process came out dyslexic. Fix the mat (possibly by adding more) and/or fix the UVs (possibly with an unwrap). That's what I get for writing technical descriptions when looking at another part of the screen
That texture really shouldn't be set to be tiling.
@QAzer I know. I'm not trying to attack or anything. I'm just trying to analyze the problem in the absence of the proper tools or any additional information beyond the textures and the screenshot.
@QAzer Sometimes. If you know what you're doing, you don't need it as much. In this case, I don't think it would help. The UVs are essentially mapping a tiling square across a circle (on the cap) and, while part of the tiled pattern is in the right place, it shouldn't have been tiling in the first place. Moreover, there are other material settings which are apparently making it render grey so I'm not sure that checkered pattern would be all that revealing here.
Can you beat LIMBO without dying without any a priori knowledge? Obviously, if you know the proper path you can (there's even an achievement for it; though even that spots you 4-5 deaths). Some of the traps are obvious (bear traps, trip-wires), but others seem impenetrable without hitting them ...
One approach would be to create a sub-object selection where you want the square to be and then apply the material with the texture to just that area - poor solution. Another would be to unwrap and then setup the materials/textures properly - good. Another still would be to correct the tiling of the texture - good. As far as the greyness, I'd have to see it in a material editor.
@NiQAlasT oh according to my authentic Italian expert, this is what you call a finger purse. you can either hold your hand still or move it up and down at the wrist. it means "ma che vuoi?" or roughly "what do you (really) want?" or "what do you mean?"
@QAzer OK. I see what you meant. Yes, in episode 5, Robin refers to Aster about 7.5 minutes in, but I was referring to the Whelmed reference in episode 1 which I was watching at the time.
I've been playing portal 2 and sometimes I see a bunch of "secret" places, and weird music starts playing when I get in them. I went on the net and searched about what it is, and it said that there was a dude called Ratman that was there before Chell.
I just wanted to find out who he is and wha...
@QAppei Exactly. As the person(s) in the above clip move their hands, it would appear to me that at least the soccer player is rubbing thumb and index finger (+middle finger) together.
@QAppei What? You can't make 2 gestures at once? Even if it makes me laugh to think it's possible? What's wrong with letting someone believe? Do you hate optimism? Do you go around telling small children that Santa Claus and The Tooth Fairy and The Easter Bunny aren't real? Why do you hate the thought of hope so much? Have you had a hard life? Do you want to talk about it? :P
@QAppei I intend no offense, but that's not a very meaningful statement. Tone of voice is important in any spoken language and always carries a importance to the communication as far as meaning and intention, given context. It's more meaningful to note that in some languages such as Japanese, inflection can change the meaning of homographs, differentiating alcohol from fish for example. English thankfully (confusingly at times) lacks such subtle difference.
the original question is generic, my specific point was creating one with the question that the average internet user will type into google when trying to find out information regarding it
the other questions are like "how do I get dlc for mass effect 3?" "what is the resurgence pack" etc
but it doesn't matter, I got bored of the idea already
I'm trying to create a chart showing video game software sales and units sold from hopefully the 1990s to now, but if possible even earlier. I found http://vgchartz.com that has numbers going back to the early 2000s, but their numbers aren't very comprehensive and don't go back far enough.
@ickleislands That happens. Success is built upon past failures. Also, meta is driven more by personal feelings and opinions so things can get a bit less cordial at times. Did you learn why your previous meta was "shot down"? Did you learn from the experience how to improve your meta posts to find a more receptive response?
@skovacs1 Raven Dreamer had made a post about how the D3 class tags hadn't got tag wikis, I said I had added one for each that was missing and got a dismissive 'not relevant' post
Can we keep terminology please?
There are many instances (for example) where a gaming related question is raised asking for a definition of gaming terminology. In these instances removing this tag would result in these valid questions not having a relevant tag to live under.
@ickleislands I didn't see it so I can't form an educated opinion on the subject, let alone take action or offer advice or understanding for any of the involved parties. I sympathize with you having had an upsetting experience, but life's an ocean of ups and downs so grab your board and come along for the ride.
@skovacs1 didn't upset me per se, I'm not that fragile. I am however of the mindset where if something becomes a pointless endeavour by my definition I will simply refuse to do it and classify it as a waste of my time
@ickleislands now who's being dismissive? :P Jokes aside, you're entitled to your opinion, actions and the consequences thereof. If you don't ever want to make meta posts again, you are under no obligation to do so. Likewise, you are under no obligation to analyze past failures to glean a methodology more prone to success in an endeavour which you have foresworn.
@ickleislands I was referring to the fact that you were dismissing the endeavours as pointless, not my suggestions if that's what you took from that. Moreover, I said this in jest so there's no need to explain yourself on the subject as your point was well understood already.
@skovacs1 would you rather I assume that you understand me when it's been demonstrated more than once that sometimes I am completely misunderstood here? ;)
If I was dismissing the endeavour as pointless, you wouldn't have seen me asking for a merge, as I would have dismissed it as pointless and be doing something else instead!
@ickleislands That's a strange question and I can't clearly answer yes or no. I think I don't feel there was a need for further explanation moreso because I spent several sentences advocating that your point about your freedom of dismissal was entirely understood. Especially for someone who refuses to perform things as wastes of time, I merely hoped to indicate another such waste of time and save you the effort in the future.
@QAppei due to it not being answered, being off topic, being closed, being hated upon, and generally not having a tag of its own, I'd personally say 'delete'
@skovacs1 I actually wouldn't mind invoking groundhog day for a month or two worth of days, under the provision that anything I did would still happen in the next iteration
