^ This but with anything in general

@Moacir Solution: turn everyone into capybaras.

@Wrigglenite meh, personally I like reviews but I don't have a problem with them being made optional
It's not hard to find reviews of anything online

Back to my original question, which was: assuming that Platform X has optional reviews, opt-in vs opt-out?

Opt-in shows transparency, opt-out shows shady business

I am mostly uninterested in random reviewers so meh
in > out, but only barely
it's not like they're moderating reviews it's a "do we show them" thing

6:04 PM
Also, if they have no review system, someone will do one
I am pretty sure that are already websites that get the metacritic, esbr or whatever other thing

Oh yeah, Reggie's retiring this week.

I am furthermore wholly uninterested in seeing "3000 hours I don't recommend borderlands 2 because borderlands 3 isnt coming to steam at launch", and "0 hours hello from pol night in the woods is a sjw game" which ignoring random reviewers also solves

@Yuuki I would say opt out would be better but I don't think it really matters either way

(both of the above made up reviews are true statements, it's that I just don't care)
hmm I have a slightly stupid question idea

@Yuuki I thought you'd misspelled this at first because of a tool I use at work called "copybara" which copies code repos.
Which I see like 100x more often than the real word.

6:11 PM
actually it might technically be a dupe
dang
yeah going to go with "it's a dupe" unless I find a specific caveat that doesn't work ("can you add epic games to your steam library as non-steam games")

Q: What happens if you use Pathfinder's hook while on a zipline?

Lucas EspindolaMore specifically, what happens if you use your hook on a enemy player? Do you pull him to the zipline? Do you get let go of the zipline and fly to the enemy?

TL;DR: Tom Scott waxes nostalgic about the NFS2 demo and how he managed to know parts of the Vancouver area without ever having been there before

6:31 PM
@Nzall oh that's what's going on? I was so confused.

@Ash World of Warcraft: Cat aclysm

@Nzall Thanks to GT5, I am fully prepared to run a lap at Nürburgring, if I ever get to Germany.

I guess strikethrough is one of the styles that you can't use mid-word.

@Yuuki I wanted to make one called "The Burning Crude" and it's just an oil fire

wow battle of azeroth (BofA)
thank's

6:35 PM
It's actually "for" but whatever.

yes "of" is an edit to give it a dumber abbreviation

Unfortunately, there's no "the" in front of it so we couldn't make "World of Warcraft: The Battle for Azeroth".

@JasonBerkan I'll use my experience in Asseto Corsa (sp?) to get a sub 10 15 minute lap.

An EVE Online politician who is also real-life lobbyist has been permanently banned for corruption https://buff.ly/2YZcRWQ
?
what the hell is this game
why is "an eve online politician" a series of 4 words that has meaning

"the CSM is a body of elected players who serve as lobbyists for various player factions and work closely with developer CCP Games to provide feedback about the game and weigh in on the design of new features"
Basically they're an elected board of player representatives who liase with the game developers
Players on the CSM are expected to keep any information they learn as part of their tenure there confidential, so that e.g. CSM members can report bugs and balance issues even when properly reporting them involves revealing sensitive information about what their corp is doing; this guy allegedly did not, but instead funneled CSM secrets back to his corp to give them an advantage

6:48 PM
@ToxicFrog Yikes

@ToxicFrog they also get to know planned changes in advance, many of those affect the economy and you can earn a lot of ISK if you have insider information.

Q: Majora's Mask: How Do I Achieve the Fourth Day Glitch

FierceDeityLinkI know that the main story mode occurs the three day time period(54 minutes in our world). So how do I achieve the Fourth Day glitch? Are there some functions that don't work on the Fourth Day?

Aah right, I forgot about that

cc @GodEmperorDune @Wipqozn @Ash

@MBraedley I'll be happy if I don't wreck the car.

6:59 PM
@JasonBerkan or someone else's car

Yes. Or someone else's $4.5 million super car.

That only gets driven once a month... at Nürburgring

user15026
@Yuuki I need this.

7:35 PM
@Ash It's a tea-rex.

user15026
@Yuuki yes! And who doesn't need a tea rex in their life I mean really

@Yuuki I love this Tea-rex, but it needs to be much larger. That's hardly enough tea for a day.

ugh
I'm moving desks again but apparently they want us to have PC tech move our stuff
I will be moving my own computer thank you

Q: Any downsides to "Employee of the Month" edict?

Mark CassidyAs the title states, is there any other downside other than the obvious $350/month charge for the edict? Will the workers have less fun, be more tired, or anything one should be aware of?

Is preemptively adding a game that has not being released yet ok?

I mean

It is a question about borderlands

ehhh
I'm not interested in reverting it, and I suppose technically that is likely how the play order would play out
and indeed, it is also the same as release order
and it's not a question so unreleased as a close reason doesn't really apply

Yeah, I'm fine with that, even though we don't know for sure that it is the best order.

8:08 PM
I can't find the burrito message
In the transcript

"I can't find it"
OG bridge people will know which one I mean

Yeah but I didn't invent that

hmm

8:10 PM
Those are all by me who originally posted it

No it wasn't bp either
I can't remember the guys name

I had a burrito!
That's the first burrito

May 23 '13 at 1:07, by Ethan
What is that like a buritto of some sort
Got it
Burrito spelled wrong

ah
yeah that'd do it
I knew I should have gone for "some sort" as the next search

8:12 PM
Top ten chat messages
I actually just tried searching "buritto"

@BunsGlazing Burrito is Spanish for "small donkey" (mix of "burro" and "petito")
so from that you can tell that it's 2 rs and 1 t

I know?
Fwiw Canadians don't know much about Spanish but I know how to spell burrito

8:31 PM
-ito/-ita isn't really a portmanteau of a word and "petito", it's just the diminutive suffix.

user15026
Yeah, it's like -je in Dutch.

user15026
Just means "this thing is now a small thing"

> Sales of Anno 1800 will be discontinued on Steam after April 16th, due to a publisher decision to limit distribution of the game. The publisher has assured us that all prior sales of the game on Steam will be fulfilled on Steam, and Steam owners will be able to access the game and any future updates or DLC through Steam.

We don’t know whether or not the game will become available on Steam again in the future. We wanted to let you know in advance so you can buy the game on Steam if you wish.
did Anno 1800 get brought by Epic aswell?

10:55 PM
ok, so if i search for "Anno 1800 removed from steam" as opposed to "anno 1800 news steam" i get an announcement and not just the steam pages
yep, was brought by Epic (because it costs no money to release on both Steam and Epic) and checking the Epic Store can't find a single mention of the 3rd Party Account or DRM that Steam Lists

11:21 PM
@Memor-X It's part of that deal Ubisoft has going with them for some reason, I hope they knock that out before the next Assassin's Creed game comes along

11:34 PM
@Memor-X Isn't this the new one?

@Frank yes
@TimStone my bet is that they don't

Welp, if they're trying to drive players to piracy, that's an awful good way to do it.

@Frank well Ubisoft was doing that already with having Denuvo in it

@Memor-X Yeah, but at least you could buy the game.

@Memor-X does the Epic store actually list that information? Steam didn't until quite recently.

11:37 PM
Honestly not even sure what Ubisoft's game is here, I can't imagine that the Epic Store version somehow doesn't require UPlay?

@ToxicFrog Steam's been listing DRM for like a year maybe? i know it's been a fair while

Yeah, I mean, it probably does, they just aren't disclosing it

The play is probably "Epic's giving us money and we still use uPlay? lol ok".

@Memor-X right, my point is that it took them like 14 years to get around to it and Epic seems to have launched without a lot of features we take for granted on Steam
Like offline mode, or the ability to search for games

@ToxicFrog well there's some even more basic features like a cart which predate steam that they are missing. it's a problem with Agile where they put out the Minimum Viable Product
and not sure who decided to skip on being able to search for games when the plan is to get these "exclusives"
like you can get away with it if your library is small but Epic wan't to be as big as possible
and the lack of a search in a growing library means worse discoverability, more so with indies who i bet will get pushed under the rub for the AAA who have the marketing budgets to pay Epic for front page spots

11:43 PM
There's a crapton of backlash to this decision in the comments on the game.

@Frank for Anno 1800? i bet there is

It'd be nice if there'd be some nuance to the conversation, instead of just, "Epic sucks, you and it can burn in hell forever."

this is like Metro: Exodus where they pull out from steam after being available for it
Better way about doing this, release on both Steam and Epic and if you want more customers to buy from Epic, have a lower price on there compared to Steam

They don't want "more people to buy from Epic", though, they want the bigger cut that Epic gives them (i.e. they want everyone who is at all convinceable to buy from Epic) and inking the exclusivity deal makes their cut even larger.

My understanding has been that Epic pays companies a large flat fee to become an Epic exclusive, so once they get that money it doesn't even matter if anyone keeps buying the game

11:49 PM
cc @GodEmperorDune @Wipqozn @Ash

@murgatroid99 what i see as "we know you're going to loose money by moving your game off Steam, so where's some money to cover the losses"

@Memor-X Or "for anyone who'd rather have money than a playerbase, here's your chance to make that a reality"
Apparently the Satisfactory devs made a statement to the effect that the deal was worth it even if nobody buys the game

@ToxicFrog yeh, which they could still get without the whole exclusivity thing. like the likes of EA and Ubisoft would benefit more from people buying from their platforms than from either Steam or Epic and EA already tries to "entice" more Origin purchases with the pre-order charts
