@Eugene I don't find the dogs to be terribly useful, tbh. diablo doesn't summon enough minions to make soul harvest worth it. the fetish army, on the other hand, will distract, and they can't be killed (they can only time out)

also, find a really good weapon on the AH, just set a buyout limit to 15k or so, and look for +50 int / +50 vit / + life on hit, sort by DPS descending

then find one that's a good value and buy it. do something similar for a few other bits of gear and you'll have no trouble.

I think I died once in the diablo nightmare fight due to lag, but then I owned him on the second try.

It's kinda odd... The Rune itself has a 120 second cooldown, but
the Gargantuan Skill has a 60 second cooldown....

Q: How far are the farlands?

I really would like to go and see the farlands, but don't walk for days and days until I get to it. So I want to try with mods and teleport where it pretty much starts. So, if my world is centered at 0,0; At what coordinates will the farlands start?

@badp I like playing demo on this map. You can constantly bombard the objectives from near a spawn locker while your team catches up. Lots of hiding places. Ample chaos. Fun to play as a soldier on this map too.

then if the team is an engie powered one we lose a couple minutes after the cart finally does get pushed

@badp Understood, but a bit passive for my tastes. If that situation arises, I usually back up the sentry nests there as a demo and use ample stickies on/near the cart to hold them up while using a sword for quick spy-checking. TF2 objectives tend to be best tackled with aggressive approaches I've found.

if you don't defend you lose but if you do defend properly going against that defense is more effort than most (including me) are willing to expend

especially without medics

so again you can try to be the hero soldier/demo without a medic or the hero medic without a demo/soldier

@Eugene yeah you can, this is called 'elective mode' - you can set it in the options. you can't set the same skill to two keys, but you can set skills from the same group on different keys.

I think most coherent builds I've seen for any class require elective mode, but who knows, maybe there's a good non-elective build out there :P

@Eugene if you get a good DPS weapon w/ life on hit, plus a good off-hand mojo with some good damage, a lot of +VIT / +INT gear, and you'll be laying waste to things in no time flat.

I tend to not summon the fetish army/big bad voodoo unless there are tough monsters about. usually gargantuan and spirit walk were enough for normal encounters.

but if you have spirit quest running (all 4 in cooldown) + big bad voodoo, you can just sit there and deal insane damage, while healing with life on hit. doesn't work as well in hell, but it should be fine for nightmare.

in hell I switched the gargantuan out for hex, which I'm still kind of on the fence about. I've tried zombie charger/bears instead of the plague bats, but plague bats is just soooo nice...

I think @StrixVaria has more expertise with WD builds than I do, I think he's in inferno.

I'm still act 2 hell.

@badp You don't need a medic quite as often if you know where/how to hide and where/how to aim. I never said to not defend. I said more aggressive approaches and not relying on defenses was important.

Q: How are gem prices on the auction house determined?

Gem auctions are finally (re-)enabled for Diablo 3. However, they don't work like all the other auctions: there are no auctions to choose from. Instead, it gives you a unit-price and tells you how much it will cost to buy X-number of them. How is this unit-price determined?
