@Chippies This is the way that makes companies the most money. They get customers they otherwise wouldn't through an initial discount, and then some percentage of them stay on paying full price even after the initial offer. People who are already paying don't get a break because they're obviously willing to pay more already.

I get that from a customer perspective you would hope that loyalty would be rewarded, but from a business perspective that concept barely makes sense.

@Yuuki In previous games, yes. In this game it looks like he might just be Nightmare plus a bunch of broken moves.

He's definitely the boss character of the story/arcade mode, and he's not useable in any competitive modes.

I hope they do have a character who gets random movesets, though.

@Chippies i like Naruto: Rise of a Ninja and The Broken Bond had world exploration and you could use various Jutsu's to get around the world like climbing onto buildings to getting across to islands and the Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaiichi on the Wii (probably spelled that wrong) you could develop your character with accessories and there were some optional stuff in the world map at times

Another thing I like about Soul Calibur is that if you screw up and give your opponent a full combo, the combo is short and you can get back to playing quickly.

@Chippies well with Rise of a Ninja and the Dragonball Z game there were parts that you could mistake as being an arcade mode since it was fight after fight. like in Rise of a Ninja during the Land of Waves arc or the Chunin Exams and in Dragonball Z for like when fighting Perfect Cell or Freezer (yes that was on purpose)

@Chippies Tekken 7 has combos that can last ~5 seconds, which feels like a long time.

And you also really need to know at least your character's basic combo to really be on even footing.

If you hit with a launcher and then just do like one move in the air you're severely handicapping yourself.

Tekken 3 was on par with Soul Calibur and Dead or Alive in the feel of it, imho

whereas street fighter, guilty gear, blazblue and mortal kombat are all much faster paced

perhaps faster paced is not the right term here

but all the moves are quicker

I don't think that Street Fighter is even in the same realm of pacing as Guilty Gear and BlazBlue

If anything I think Street Fighter is one of the slower, more methodical fighting games.
